August was born to a Norwegian father and a Greek mother, which created a uniquely warm blend of traits, from his father's sandy hair to his mother's olive skin and dark chocolate eyes. His perfect health can be attributed to being raised as a scientific specimen, which brought him the very best in medical care, dental care, and diet and exercise for nearly his entire life. His sense of style is neat, comfortable, and a bit older than he is. A lot of the clothes he has he got from his neighbor, and she gives him all her husband's old sweaters especially. They are often hand made. He has thick, curly hair that he keeps a bit longer than he was allowed to in the facilities. Most of the time he is clean shaven.

Personality
August is truly an old soul. He is kind and respectful, and his unassuming demeanor allows people to trust him easily. He is very honest, but with that comes a deep misunderstanding of things like sarcasm and irony. In theory, he knows that people don't always mean exactly what they say, but he has a difficult time recognizing when not to take someone's words at face value. His lack of real human connection means that he doesn't always pick up on certain social cues, and people that meet him often think he is very strange because of this. He usually takes people at their word, and doesn't search for lies. August just lives on the assumption that most people will tell the truth and do what's right.
August can also be described as blunt. He doesn't sugarcoat any of his words. He says what he feels, just like his surrogate parents taught him to.
Take it up with the badlands
History
For the first six years of his life, August remembers being happy. He was born in Arendal, Norway, and lived there with his parents Lars and Elene Blomgren. They were a comfortable middle class family, and they sent August to the best schools they could. He showed an enthusiasm and talent for languages that allowed him to begin learning more than just his native Norwegian.
On a late December night, after doing the last of their Christmas shopping, Lars lost control of the family car. August does not remember much of the accident, except ice cold water and escaping the car with his mother. They laid in the snow bank and lost consciousness together, huddled together for warmth. When emergency services found them, the snow around them had melted. Their wet clothes were steaming, and August's temperature was over 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
Elene and August were expected to make a full recovery, but Lars's chest had been crushed by the steering column. The hospital ran blood tests to confirm their health. It was then when August's genetic volatility was discovered. Then, unexpectedly, he flatlined. The doctors told Elene that her son had sustained internal injuries that had been undetected, and he had bled out internally.
When August woke up, he was in a genetic testing facility in London. He was kept separately from all other subjects, and he was kept unaware of others existence. He was raised by the scientists of Genesis. They tried to do everything they could to keep him from physical, mental, and emotional damage. His primary caretakers were a woman who called herself Eve and a man who called himself David. They became surrogate parents to him, just as the scientists had planned. It was here he became fluent in English.
He became very valuable to the project, being one of the youngest subjects to start in the project and one of the few whose volatility was triggered outside of the project. When he was 10 years old, he was moved to a facility in Zurich, Switzerland. Here he was taken care of by Emma and Daniel and learned German, French, and Swiss German. At 15, he was moved again, this time to Italy. There he learned Italian and was watched by Erica and Dante. When he turned 18, his childhood was immediately considered over. The next day, the tests that had been put off for 12 years were scheduled to begin. Starting with electric shock "therapy." After the first round of shocks, August knew he had to escape. Over the years he had been at the facility, he had gained a certain amount of trust. It was not difficult for him to take advantage of that trust and escape.
Eventually he found an abandoned cottage on the outskirts of the town Livigno. Under the guise of a trust fund kid looking to live a simple life, he moved into the little cottage and earned some money doing odd jobs for the villagers until he could buy his first tools, seeds, and a chicken. He used his fluency in Italian and his trustworthy face to gain the trust and sympathy of nearly everyone he encountered, and within a year he became an accepted part of the village, even attending the local Catholic church with his elderly widowed neighbor Maria. Despite the prejudices between the two religions, there wasn't a huge difference between his born religion (Lutheran) and Catholicism anyway, and he didn't want to give anyone a reason to distrust him.
He fixed up his cottage and turned it into a small, self-sufficient farm. He has lived there quietly trying to process his captivity and the truth of what happened to him and reclaim his life. He has been known to take in strays, whether they be dogs, cats, or humans.
Creep on in like a concrete fever
Abilities
Ever since the accident, August has found himself with a certain control over temperature. He can control his own and that of anything he touches. With extensive testing, training, and prodding, the scientists pushed him into the ability to freeze things and set them on fire.
August tends to keep himself at a very high temperature without thinking. This is what kept him and his mother alive after they crawled from the wreckage into the harsh Norwegian blizzard.
