Rin kept drinking her juice as the women in the room continued their assessment of the past year since Mikoto died. She felt her mood lower as she thought about the amazing man who recruited her into HOMRA. She stopped sipping at the apple juice carton, remaining silent for a moment as she missed the King of HOMRA. She wanted him back, but she didn't want to offend Mariko, Mariko was great too, just it wasn't the same.
“You know I'm here for every one of you, to carry this on and finish it. Do not think I'm just sitting here wasting time. Mayu, keep your mind sharp and straight, we must take our situation and use it as an advantage. If a king dies a clan should declare defeat and mostly would disband. For the public and most people, we are no more. Let us use this to our advantage, we must and should lay low yet at the same time, find out what the others are doing.”
She nodded her head, smiling to the Queen, giving her approval with a nod of her head. She didn't want to leave HOMRA. She didn't want to have to find a new clan. At HOMRA she felt she could be herself without anyone interrupting her. She could just be the shy, broken, irritable girl she was and no one would question her.
“We don't have much time, I'm sure you understand that.”
Rin jumped slightly once she realized Mariko was addressing her directly, nodding her head, "Time is of the essence.." She replied agreeing with her, she wanted to do anything she could to help HOMRA, even if it meant changing herself a little.
“I was going to explain this while you both were here but, the fact of the matter is like I said, we were to be unknown. Someone who has been spreading “rumor” of me. They do not know who I am but If word reaches the other's ear. There are a few possibilities of what could happen.”
Rin swallowed hard, realizing the severity of the situation, "We have to do something.." She agreed, taking a drink from her juice before throwing it into the trash can, across the counter. She pulled a piece of pocky from her jacket, chewing on it as she continued to listen to her Queen patiently.
“One, they will seek to immediately end us, believing that because we have a new leader, our morale is less capable for command and that means we'll lack the strength to defend ourselves. Now granted we may believe we're fine but we're not. Some of us unfortunately are still in a devastated state and some although they respect me, still aren't comfortable and compare me. The second, is that they will investigate us, specifically me and if we play this like a game of chess. Any investigations and key observations will become like a game of chess and we'll eventually become cornered. They will try to reveal information and most suspected would be of revenge and rebellion. Do not think we're out here for revenge. We simply have to do what we must to survive and keep this clan alive.”
She closed her eyes, trying to think of a way out of their situation, and nodded her head again, "As much as I'd love to avenge King Mikoto... We couldn't accomplish that as we are.." She added, then looked over to her, smiling, "I respect you, and I do miss Mikoto.. but you're two different people who can't be compared. It's like trying to compare a car to fruit.." She stated flatly, deciding to not sugar coat anything she chose to say.
“The last option would simply be a bit risky but can be done. If the clans did learn of “The Red Queen” its safe to say we'll be assigning decoys to hold the title of Red Queen. They will already know by that point that we're alive but they won't know who the real focus is. These are what I've come up with. This is why we're going to find this person as a priority and try to end the seed of information before it goes further. Any objections or thoughts?”
"Mayu would be a believable Red Queen... She's got the fire and anger.. She may not always direct it properly, but it would keep the attention off of you while we make a battle plan... I would do it myself, but if they were to watch me it would interfere with my intel work.. I can't sneak around if everyone suspects me.. " It was possibly the longest reply she'd ever given since Mariko took her role of power. The typically quiet girl then stood, taking a deep breath before staring determinedly at her Queen, "What can I currently do for our clan?"
"You make an interesting proposition Aika, and I believed it to be benefactual to my clan to agree with you. However, I must admit that should any of the other clans attack my own, I will fight back. This peace treaty is one I will only have with you as I trust you, the other leaders however, I can not say the same. It's nice to see you Aika, I hope the Joker didn't give you to much trouble. He can be awfully rude and I apologise for that."
Koneko noticed her Queen's shaken composure and turned her attention fully to Aika, "What's wrong, Mi'lady?" She asked worried, but Kamin's agreeing surprised her as well. He seemed to want to throw the offer in Aika's face just moments ago. Koneko kept silent about her growing irritation with the Green King. Aika wanted peace and she wasn't going to do anything that could possibly ruin obtaining it, so long as Kamin behaved himself. Then she remembered him mentioning "The Joker". Oh he has split personality disorder.. Though it didn't reassure Koneko, That could pose as a danger to Queen Aika.. He's a wild card..
"The feeling is mutual, Kamin... Ah, don't worry about the Joker. He was a bit hurtful at first but it was nothing that I couldn't handle. How have you been?"
She has feelings for him.. That could prove even more dangerous.. She thought to herself as she watched the interactions between the two, taking another sip of her Earl Grey tea, noticing the blush on Aika's face. Her Queen amazed her every day. She felt safer with Aika than she did with anyone else, but Aika's Achilles heel was her lack of protection when it came to her heart. She left her heart on her sleeve, and it was easily mistreated. Koneko made sure to do everything she could to protect the friendly Queen, but she knew even she couldn't protect Aika from the heartbreak Kamin could cause her.
Koneko finished her tea, dropping the cup when she noticed Aika got a vision, she ignored the broken mess, putting a gloved hand on Aika's shoulder, "Mi'lady, are you alright? What did you see?" She asked concerned, noting the expression on Aika's face, Koneko deduced it probably wasn't something she wanted to hear, but was definitely necessary. She gently squeezed her Queen's shoulder comfortingly, starting to look around.
"S-Sorry... It's just... I got a vision. This one was about the Colorless clan. They attacked us. It was specifically a green haired girl and a black haired boy... Do either of you see them somewhere nearby?"
"Queen Aika, please get behind me.." she whispered, gently pulling the woman behind her, hoping she'd comply. She wasn't often demanding of her Queen, but if they were about to be attacked, Koneko wanted to be fully prepared, "I don't see them yet.. but your visions have never been wrong before.." She added, scanning around quickly. She looked to Kamin, "You agreed to peace, so can we count on you to help keep Queen Aika safe? We'd owe you one for the future when you're in need of aid.."
She went wide eyed as her eyes fell on a green haired woman outside of the shop, "I think I've spotted one of them." She stated quietly, "If anything bad happens.. please get Queen Aika to safety.." she stated to Kamin, though she was closer to begging.
"So, you want to kill someone all because you don't like them? That seems a bit fun... Shall we go in?" Kyle replied to the midget's words. Monotonal as usual, he showed no motivation even though he stated it being 'fun'.
With that, he began walking towards the cafe. The same one he walked past and saw the three weirdos. Oh wait, the target is the one of them. That's even more perfect!
"Well?"
"Yes we shall~ Finally you screwing co-operate."
Soren then entered the café with Kyle. Seeing the purple haired rust hiding behind a black haired rust made her blood boil. Soren grinned, pulled out her gun and shot at the purple haired rust, the bullet grazing the purple haired rust's head.
"Scrap, I missed..."
Soren's grin never left as she came running up to the purple haired rust, ready to kick her away.
"Oi, Midget-chan. Calm down." Kyle muttered, altering his sound waves to make it seem more like a shout. He then continued standing there, his cup in one hand sipping away at his coffee while his other hand was stuffed in his pocket.
"I think I should report this irresponsibility to my lord." Kyle muttered, considering calling the colourless king on his phone.
"Ow..."
Soren then glared at Kyle.
"Hey, what the hell?! If we get rid of the purple queen, she can't pose a threat towards our king! Seriously, think about it!"
Soren's left eye twitched upon mention of Kyle calling the king.
"Cog, you're a killjoy... Fine. How do you propose we kill the rust then?"
Aika could hear the two arguing.
'Now may be a good time to get out of here as soon as possible.'
Soren continued to glare at Kyle.
"Well?! I'm waiting!"
"Why don't we give these guys a chance? Fighting is useless. But the most important thing is;" He glanced over to the Green King. "...Why the Green is here."
Kyle took another sip of his coffee as he wandered over to the table. "We should be cautious, from the idiot things you have done already, I'm surprised that the authorities aren't around."
