Keep Your Feet on the Ground

Keep Your Feet on the Ground

0 INK

Just another run away. You are misused, a huge mistake, but what if you met someone who was the same; and whats more, they wanted to become a family. HAS STARTED BUT STILL ACCEPTING NEW RPERS. :3

1,107 readers have visited Keep Your Feet on the Ground since +delusional+world+ created it.

Introduction

A cry in the night by the young unlawful child.
Running away from life into the wild.
A scatter of leafs up under running feet.
Off the ground into a tearful defeat.
A child who could no longer take life.
So he just uses a knife.
Down on to his knees to pray.
Please god take the pain away.
A lost soul in a world of black and white.
A war against love because he lost the fight.
Hearts burst into fire.
Honesty from a complete liar.
As the coins hit the floor and people run.
A life done so quick now the pain is gone.

Image

Your sick of it. All of it; you want to run away and never return... and you do. Problem? Police are out everywhere, or you have no money, your sick, hurt, or even have someone with you. You ran away from your home, orphanage, or life in general; but when you entered the city, your truly alone. Whats worst, your of age where you could not only be sucked back into where-ever you came from, but you could also be stuck in either a foster home or an orphanage. So, you run to the darkness and safety of the alley ways until night where you begin your new life; but what you didn't know, is that it was the turf of a famous gang. When you are caught on their turf, you are surprise by who is the leader; a nineteen year old boy and his younger sister. Whats even more surprising is that they allowed you to join their 'family' of other delinquents and runaways. Will you accept? Or be better off on your own?

Plot.

So you have ran away to some where in the huge city. When you did, you realize it was a bit stupid to run away without much and now your only resort is to work at night and do what you can to survive; until you walked upon a gang's turf. What you didn't know, was that the leader was a young boy and his sister who want to create a family and want you to join it. We will start the rp the instant you run away, which will be better explained in OOC.

This is where they all live, or stay at. (Abandoned Church.)

-Rules~!-

+Romance+
I don't mind it; don't get over board with it though. Also, be realistic about it and don't fall in love with a person right off the bat, better yet, have that love/hate relationship with them before your relationships move onto the next level. Also, since your runaways, a eighteen year old person could always fall in love with a fourteen or a thirteen year old; so age isn't really a big deal in this rp, its more on how your character acts.

+Characters+
I don't mind how you make your characters, you can have the maximum of two characters, they must be different genders and you must have a character over 15 and below 19 before you can make a character that is below 15 and above 19. Also, USE anime; no powers and DON'T make your characters fall in love with each-other...

+Cussing.+
I don't care how much you do it, just don't drop the F bomb in every post.

+Posts+
I want AT LEAST a good paragraph which means 5-7 good sentences. Also, be a bit realistic and detailed. I love AWESOME POSTS~! :P I understand writers block.. so drink milk and don't do it very often. :)

+Frequency+
Try to post once or twice a day if you can. If you do not post more than three days WITHOUT an excuse, then your out of the role play, until you come back and explain yourself. If your gone more than a week with out a good excuse, then your done for. :P But if you give me a heads warning.. then I will accept it and be reasonable. :]

The days where getting warmer as summer approach the big city. It was exactly 12:30PM and right around rush hour here; giving Skylar a better chance of wages in McDonald's. After three long years of working in here in this greasy old place; he had gotten on good terms with his boss, though, because of him not even having a highschool degree, the highest he could go was up to cashier or cook. Skylar normally spends his day at his job, looking for homeless kids like himself and his sister and just trying to survive. He watched as people stopped in, taking their order and sometimes pouring fries into the holder. He disliked the smell of the fries and grease, always making him sick, so he tend to just stay as a cashier or a 'cleaner'. He didn't particularly know where Kisa was, and as long as she didn't bring the cops home again, he was fine on what she was doing; you know, as long as it was safe. He watched out the window, as he typed in the orders of a large man and his kids infront of him who was ordering a feast, or at least to him. "So, three large fries, two big macs, one cheese burger with four large drinks..." He said as the large man nodded and paid up.

Skylar typed in the order as he watched them go towards the side, and wait. Today was going to be a long day, even though his work day was going to be over in two hours. He worked from five in the morning till two o'clock in the afternoon, bringing home dinner for him and Kisa and who ever was going to be at their 'home' that evening. Skylar and Kisa normally brung home runaways often, whether it was fugitives, or young kids trying to escape their homes, they would always take them in as long as they got something in return.

Mean while, Kisa was in the local library about six or seven miles away from the main city; why? She was doing some serious hacking in the other libraries, trying to enter her and Skylar's name into the local school system. It was only about a year or two ago where she brung home the cops, not only was Skylar furious, but it took him two months to pay for her bale, not only that, but they had to lie about their living conditions. It was a real nascence that caused everyone trouble, and well, Skylar made sure that Kisa didn't leave his sight for six months. This time, she was searching for the recent job ads. She was a bit too excited for one since she had just turned fifteen a couple of weeks ago, and she could get a job if she had school's permission; which was easy to get since her and Skylar knew people who made fake IDs and what not.

Santana sighed boredly, resting her head on the desk at which she worked in the tiny little library. It sure as hell wasn't the city's main library--unlike this place, which was miles from the areas of the city anyone actually wanted to be in, that library was huge and often bustling with people. Not to mention, most importantly, it did a heck of a lot better job of researching the backgrounds of its workers than this place did, which Santana had found out when she had tried to apply at the city's main library--that was a rather awkward moment, suffice to say. So the girl had to settle for this neighbourhood library--which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Santana found herself liking the quiet and the general lack of people for the most part, which meant that she pretty much just had to sit around and read until her shift was done with; despite the fact that the pay was a lot less attractive, as long as it gave her some means of making a meager living without running the risk of being found out, Santana was willing to take anything she could get.

She glanced to the side, where a familiar figure was seated at one of the library's few computers. Glancing around and seeing that no one seemed about to check out a book (and if anyone actually wanted to, well, they could wait), Santana left the counter behind and strode over to the girl at the computer, glancing momentarily at the screen and recognising a number of ads for local jobs. "Barely fifteen and already looking for a job. I just don't get you, Kisa." Kisa Baze was one of, if not the only person whom Santana actually called by their real name--anyone else usually got some nickname that Santana knew they hated. And it was true that Santana was much less of, well, a bitch with Kisa than with nearly anyone else--though to anyone it would be evident that this was because Kisa had been the one to find Santana, being pursued by police and completely miserable, and drag her out of the world of utter destitution. It had taken a long time to get to the point where Santana felt like she could even trust the other runaways, but whether she consciously knew it or not, Kisa had become more or less Santana's first true friend.

Glancing up at the clock on the wall in front of them, Santana sighed. "Looks like my shift will be up in fifteen minutes..."

Yoshi sighed as she carefully brushed her hair and applied some chapstick. The police noticed when she looked too ragged and poor, and other thugs noticed when she looked too nice. There was a very fine line that made her invisible, too plain to merit attention, but just pretty enough that people wanted to do her favors. She adjusted the bag slung cross-wise over her body and left the subway bathroom, strolling easily along with the crowd. It wasn't quite tourist season yet, but there were always a few early birds, and there would be more and more of them as summer approached. Yoshi absolutely loved tourists. She loved the way they never imagined that their trip could include something as mundane as petty theft. Natives of the city were smart enough to keep their wallets out of their back pockets or to set their purses on the ground. She smiled sweetly at a middle-aged man who was busy staring at her her legs and lifted his wallet as she stepped around him. She was lucky, this one carried a lot of cash, about sixty dollars. She ditched the rest of the wallet. She wandered the streets for a while until she came upon a library, remembering that Kisa had mentioned that she would be there for the day. She went in and quickly found the younger girl glued to the computers. She slid into the seat next to her without a greeting.

"I grabbed some cash. Is there enough food at home or do I need to make a stop?" she asked, balancing the chair back on two legs. She glanced up at Santana, including her in the question. "Tourist season is almost here. It'll be easier then. Until then, though, I think we're out of eggs?"

---

Jack stared morosely at the crumpled wad of bills in his hand. He wanted a big mac and large coke, but he needed every penny he could save if he wanted to get a decent appartment any time soon. He sigh, but then shook off his funky mood and approached the stern looking cashier at the McDonalds.

"Hey, man, can I get the double cheeseburger off of the dollar menu and a water cup? Thanks," he said with a smile. He knew he looked rough, he hadn't shaved in a few days. It might be time to bum a night or two with a friend, have a real home experience.

Naomi hoped to hit the dumpster behind the local McDonald's today she hadn't eaten in a couple of days and was now desperate. She had been sleeping in alley behind an abandoned building for a couple of weeks now and she figured it would be time for her to move on here soon. But the thing was she was running out of places to go, she looked around the corner of the building where she saw the dumpster surrounded by it little locked fence. She pulled out her lock picking equipment, she didn't do this often and in fact she hated doing this but she was grateful the the fence faced away from the building or she would get caught lickity split. Shel started to pick the old weathered lock and it soon popped open allowing her to get in she left the lock where it still looked as though it was locked but she could get in and out easily. She pulled her backpack off her back and opened up the dumpster the smell of old food wafted from inside. She often wondered why McDonald's locked up their dumpsters like this, was it really so bad if someone got in it and took old double cheese burgers really what was she hurting by doing this. She balanced precariously on edge of the greasy dumpster trying not to fall off, "Maybe this is why", she said quietly. She hopped in she some plastic bags that she knew had the wealth that was the "under the red lights to long sandwiches". She peaked in to each of the bags trying to avoid spoiled food, she found a bag that still had warm food in it, she took out her pocket knife and cut the bag open revealing it contents. She unzipped her backpack and started to sort through the food, making sure to smell it and thoroughly inspect it before shoving it in the bag. She at least would wait until she got out of the dumpster to eat her prize. She tried to grab some extra just in case she ran into so other homeless people that probably hadn't eaten in a much lounger period of time than she had. People who were older than her that were not so dexterous as she, that couldn't climb into dumpsters to look for food.

After she felt she had done as much as she could with out being caught she started to try to get out which was always more difficult than getting in especially after digging through mountains of greasy food and having a full backpack on your back.

Bre ran hard, gripping her knife in one hand and Jo's wrist in the other. She dragged her twin along with her as she ran. The sound of gun fire still ringing in her ears, though they had lost them hours ago. She spotted a McDonald's close by and decided to go there.
She pulled Joseph inside and dropped onto the ground her back resting on the wall. She breathed hard as she pocketed her knife and pulled her jacket down over her wrists. Since she ran away, Bre had started cutting again, but Jo didn't know. And she didn't intend to tell him. She looked at her brother, the only person that she cared about anymore, and carefully ran her hand over his bruised face.
"Are you okay?" She panted, looking at the scrapes, scars, and bruises that covered his body in various places from years of beatings. She had them, too, but she didn't care about those, she only cared about his.
It was good we got away now, she thought, looking around the eating place, noticing people staring at them, father and Tim are going insane, coming after us with guns.
Breanna stood up, offering her brother her hand, "I have some money, do you want anything to eat?" She hated all fast food places, calling their food, 'food from hell'. So, she was probably going to just get a smoothie.

~Akemi Okazaki & Haru Okazaki~
The two twins were in a ally way, just sitting and relaxing. It has been about a week since they were on their own and to be honest...it was probably the best thing they have ever done. Of course, they would still need to find some sort of job to help feed them. Life on the streets wasn't going to be some walk in the park, it would take some work. Akemi had her normal relax expression on her face while she tuned her acoustic guitar, on the other hand Haru was across from her leaning on the ally wall sucking on a lollipop with his normal emotionless expression. The sound of Akemi tuning her guitar rang through the ally way nicely, but was soon disturbed by Haru's soft voice. " Emi, have you found a job for us yet." Akemi had just finish tuning her guitar and placed it back in it's black case. " I thought you were doing that." she turned her gaze back at him from her guitar case " I remember telling you to look for it."

Haru pulled the remaining stick of his lollipop and toss it onto the ground. " I don't recall you ever saying such a thing." Akemi groaned..." Liar, I bet you just got lazy. You were born a couple minutes after me, so you're older. Big brothers should look out for their little sisters~" She snickered. The topic was changed, obviously Haru did not want to continue talking about the subject of him being lazy. " I do recall the antique store needing some employees."
Akemi shook her head " I think me and you both know I would end up breaking things, why not the bread shop?"
" No." Haru said.
So...Blunt Akemi thought to herself. " You enjoy books don't you? Why not the library, I am sure they will hire us." standing up she threw the guitar case over he shoulder. Haru stood up as well and nodded, indicating her agreed. That was that, they were off...then the sound of a stomach rumbling made Akemi pause. " Oh candy, are you hungry?" She chuckled at him, he simply glared at her and smack her upside the head. Rubbing the back of her head she smiled at him " Ow, no need to be so violent~ Here I think there is a McDonalds up ahead, let's fill you're stomach up shall we? I have some money from when I did my performance last night." ( She played her guitar.)

Just like that their destination was changed, the headed off into the McDonalds near by and approached the register. " Go ahead and order~" Haru nodded and took a look at the menu "...Large fries please...and a coke." he stared at the boy, almost as if he was demanding it right then and there. Akemi took out the money, she had just enough to pay for his small meal. Haru looked over at her, not with a concerned expression...though his voice sounded the part. " Aren't you going to order?" Akemi shook her head " Not hungry, I kind of picked the wrong spot last night...so it wasn't to busy." Haru stared at her for a moment and then turned his gaze back on the boy. It was quite obvious she didn't have enough money to buy anything else. " I will share then.." " Huh? Oh no that's fine, you're petite body needs it more then I do. Princess~"
Haru smacked her upside the head once again at her little 'princess' comment, it was true however that he was frail some times. " I don't know, you need it to grow...shorty."

Akemi grumbled, she would let the short comment pass...this time.
( The register boy is aimed at Skylar.)

Damien Forester

Damien had been living out in the city streets for about two weeks now and no one seemed to be searching for him. Not that he wanted anyone to find him. His cuts and brushes were healing as far as he could tell and he never planned to see his father's bald head ever again. Sleeping in random places on the street each night Damien walked through the city streets avoiding cops and looking for food. Today walked slowly blending into the people in the streets. Staring at the cement he clutched his pack tightly over his shoulder. Clothes, another pair of sneakers, and two beer bottles were its contents. The beer obviously buried deep within the cotton clothes. He also managed to steal twenty dollars from his father's wallet which wasn't much but it was a lot more money than he got his hands on before.
Now the twenty dollars in cash had been reduced to a meager 2 dollars. He had tried to steal some money but he almost got caught. He had ran faster than ever to get away from the guy he tried and failed to pickpocket. So in his jeans pocket were two one dollar bills. The thought of dumpster picking nearly made him hurl. McDonalds came into view and he almost entered. Right at the door he backed away, going for the back of the fast food place. He was hungry was he couldn't buy anything. He didn't plan to actually go to the dumpster. Only to look and check that it wasn't as horrible as his mind played it to be.
Damien stopped short as he saw a girl around his age get out from behind the fence that sealed off the McDonald's dumpster. She probably got food, he thought. He started to approach her but again stopped. What was he doing? Asking a stranger to share her garbage? He hoped the girl hadn't noticed his staring at her. He stared to walk quickly past her. (Naomi is dumpster girl.)

The McDonalds was crowding up fast. "Hey, man, can I get the double cheeseburger off of the dollar menu and a water cup? Thanks," Skylar looked at him and nodded. He typed it into the register before nodding. "Ok, that would 1.07..." He knew that the guy would probably already know that; but hey, it was his job. He gave him a plastic cup to put his water in before two people came running in. They seemed to be in trouble. He bluntly looked at them, examining them quickly. "I have some money, do you want anything to eat?" was all he heard before continued. Something bothered him though, but then again, why should it be his problem? Another set of two people came and he started to ease drop on their conversations. When they walked up, the guy and girl started to ague a little; something about being short and what not. He didn't smile, but instead, looked as if he was glaring at them. "Are you homeless or something? Talking about busy spots, it sounds like your poor. I wouldn't talk like that around here. People will look funny at ya." He said coldly before he waited for their order, quietly keeping an eye on almost everyone who had just entered the McDonald. When they had ordered, he nodded. "That would be 3.59. Can you afford that much?" His voice was almost criticizing them as he glared them and the two set of siblings behind them.

Mean while, in the library, Kisa was met by one of her good friends. "Barely fifteen and already looking for a job. I just don't get you, Kisa." Kisa smiled like an idiot at her before turning back to the computer screen. "I want to try and help out Skylar as much as I can. You know he is like a father to all of us here, hell, if it wasn't for him, I don't think you would be here right now." she said as she typed fast, her eyes not leaving the screen. "...Santa." She snickered, it was meant as a joke, since the only person who really called Santana that was Skylar. Every other time they met, they would have an all out quarrel of name calling for about five minutes before they would stop. When Yoshi walked in, she peeled her eyes off of the computer screen and towards Yoshi. "Hey Yosh~i!" the 'i' of Yoshi's name was dragged out like in a song or something. "I grabbed some cash. Is there enough food at home or do I need to make a stop?" everyone of the runaways had a special talent to call their own. Whether it was hacking computers, or lock picking to money stealing and people deceiving or street fighting; everyone had a nice talent that always ended up befitting them one way or another.

Jack handed over the money in a hurry and nodded his thanks, moving to the side to wait for his food. He frowned at the cashier's harsh words and even chaffed a little at them. What was wrong with being poor? Sometimes, that was just the way life turned out. "Yeah, well, I don't think anyone in a McDonald's is expecting to see celebrities or anything," he said with a wide smile at the girl and boy behind him. They did in fact look a little rough, like maybe they had been out on the street for a while... He considered offering them some help, but quickly realized that there wasn't much he could do in his position.

Yoshi wrinkled her nose at Kisa's general cheery demeanor. The girl never let up with the smiles. Anyone else that annoying would have earned a smack by now, but Kisa and her brother were all she had in the world until she managed to find a way back to Tokyo. They could both be naive and annoying with their habit of bringing every brat with a sob-story through their house, but no one was perfect she supposed.

"Oh shit", Naomi said under her breath when she came out and saw a guy looking right at her, "Please don't tell anybody I don't want to get in trouble", she called out to the guy he looked to be around her age, "I'm just hungry thats all please don't", she said while reaching out to him. She was afraid he would go back into McDonald's and tell the manager. She didn't have any money so there was noway she could buy anything and not to mention they would call the police and she had been careful to avoid them she didn't want to meet them.

Santana feigned anger and irritation at Kisa's comment. "Hey now. Only Smiley gets to call me Santa." It seemed only Skylar tended to respond to Santana's nicknames by giving her one of his own--which she had thought unusual, given she had pegged him for the serious, humourless type--which, perhaps he was, but that didn't stop them from exchanging just about every nickname they knew the other hated everytime they caught sight of one another. It was appropriate--Smiley hardly ever smiled, and Santa hardly seemed the saintly type. Of course, it wasn't like they actually hated each other. Santana had to admit--though never out loud, of course--that having Smiley around wasn't too bad. Hopefully that was a sentiment that Smiley shared.

She glanced up as Yoshi-Yuriko Ito came along--or, as Santana liked to call her, Surfboard. Or, when she was irritated (which Yoshi managed to be even more often than Santana, which was saying something), Santana settled for Yakuza Brat, since she had long learnt that calling Yoshi Surfboard when she was already not in the best of spirits usually led to a fistfight that then proceeded to piss off Skylar, and then no one was very happy. Yoshi was discussing how tourist season was approaching, which meant more money was approaching for Yoshi. She made money by stealing--which Santana didn't mind at all. You had to make a living somehow, and Santana was pretty sure she had survived for the time before she met Skylar and Kisa by depriving about half of the city of their wallets. But she hadn't planned to keep up living like that all her life. Right now all she could hope was to make an honest living without having to go back to resorting to...less than respectable techniques such as pickpocketing, or worse.

It seemed, however, that Santana's demeanour changed when Yoshi entered. Kisa, and maybe Smiley, was the only person around whom Santana let herself be more like herself, dropping the barrier she otherwise maintained at all times; as soon as anyone else appeared she kept it right back up. Her voice became harder and came to possess an almost condescending tone, and her expression shifted into something that managed to display contempt, boredom, and irritation at the same time--almost by instinct. "Come to check out a book, Yakuza Brat? Probably not, I'm sure you can grab one off the shelves and be out of here before anyone's the wiser, right?" She didn't expect Yoshi to react much to the same bitchiness most everyone had gotten used to for the most part; the fact that Yoshi had bothered to actually stop by at all, much less speak, suggested she wasn't especially pissed off at the moment. Not more than usual, anyway.

Yoshi tutted at Santana's tone and let her chair fall back down on all four legs. She twisted around in her seat to face her. "Not this time," she deadpanned. "As adorable as I'm sure you think you are, playing "sexy librarian" and whatnot," she paused to make the appropriate air quotes, "some of us have real work to do." She and Santana had a strange relationship, though it was no more strange than the relationship anyone else shared with Santana. The girl didn't have many skills in compromise... or manners. Although, Yoshi had to admit that getting along with others was not high up on her list of priorites. She had been in fights with Santana before, but then, she had been in at least one fight with everyone... except for Kisa because how could you hit someone who was grinning at you like that. At the moment though, they snipped just to snip. It didn't seem like either of them was in the mood for a real confrontation. "So, what's the deal? Do we need food, or not, because if we don't, I've had my eye on a few tools."

Ooooph, that one stung. "I wasn't aiming for that look, but I do work at a library, and I can't help it if I'm sexy while I do it," Santana tossed back almost lazily, standing back up to glance back around the counter to make sure there were no customers around before returning to the computer where Kisa and Yoshi were gathered around; she decided not to address the 'real work' comment, not much caring to get into a battle of words when her shift was about to end in a few minutes and then she was home-free to...well, wander around and see if there was anything she thought she needed enough to expend her meager earnings on. There wasn't much that fell into that category, and in general Santana didn't keep too many things around with her except for her clothes and the books she checked out from the library to read when she had days off (or, as today, days with shorter hours) and nothing to do but lie around the abandoned church that was currently home.

"Just get me a hamburger or something... I know I need to eat but I don't what you spending much money, Bre, things are going to be hard enough as is." Jo's eyes flicked around nervously, taking in faces and images and automatically committing them to memory. He made brief eye contact with one of the cashier, whose name badge, upon closer inspection, read Skylar. Jo then turned his attention back to Bre.

"And a bottle of water. That'll be easy to carry out and refill as needed." In his right pocket Jo was fingering something. On the way out of the house Jo had lifted two things. The first one was their 'father's' credit card, and the other one was a sterling silver zippo. Jo would hold on to this for as long as he could, but he knew if, and when, Bre became hungry, and they had no money, and the credit card was maxed, then he would have to pawn it. Until then though he would hold onto the lighter.

His fingers twitched absent-mindedly as his eyes wandered back to Skylar. Now, Jo didn't mean to stare, but Skylar really was a pretty boy, even in the McDonald's clothes and grime. "Should I find us a table?" Jo's smile to Bre was sincere, albeit a little distracted. Every five seconds or so his eyes would flick over to Skylar, and than back to Bre.

Jo wasn't quite ready to deal with that issue though. He really needed to focus on his sister right now. She was all he had.

"Fine." Bre answered her brother, once again tugging at the sleeve of her jacket, hoping it would stay down, "find a table, and I'll order."
She took her 'fathers' wallet out of her pocket and counted the bills, there was a bout seventy five dollars in there with a whole bunch of quarters. Then, she walked over to the cashier, not even bothering to look at him. She wouldn't look anyone in the eyes since the beatings, it made it easier to lie when you didn't. Plus, 'father' always ordered Jo and her to look him in the eyes, so naturally it became a habit to not do so.
"Give me a burger and two bottles of water." She said, slapping a ten down on the counter as she observed the contents of the refrigerator behind Skylar, the cashier. Yawning, she waited for him to take the money and get the food.
Her and Jo really didn't need Tim and 'father' showing up at McDonalds any time soon. They needed to eat and leave, and she knew of an abandoned grocery store a few miles from here that would be easy to break into, and 'father' was too stupid to think that they'd be smart enough to out smart an old store security system and be able to live in it. But, that was Jo and Bre's skill. They could out smart any security system and break into just about any building.

Damien stared at the girl again with a bewildered look on his face. She reached out to him and asked him not to tell anyone. He looked down at her pack and the weight of his seemed to double. "I won't. Don't worry," he gave a small weak smile unsure of what to do. People around them were bustling about their daily living.
He looked at her and noticed she looked a little ragged. He himself probably looked the same but he thought it different for women. "How long have you been out?" He began with what was leftover of his already tiny confidence. It's been weeks since he had a normal one on one conversation with anyone.
Conversations with his father were more like him barking and Damien cowering hoping to escape without a punch in the gut. Damien usually didn't speak to students in his class because he couldn't find anything to talk about. He doubting he had anything in common with his classmates. Did their father beat them? Did their mother leave them? Were they a mistake of a drunken night and misjudgment? Damien highly doubted it.
But this girl, whatever her name was, seemed to be a street kid. Now that was something they both had in common. Suddenly his stomach lurched in a grumbled and a growl. He gave her a sheepish look. "My name's Damien. I've been here for two weeks."

~Akemi Okazaki~

"Are you homeless or something? Talking about busy spots, it sounds like your poor. I wouldn't talk like that around here. People will look funny at ya."
Akemi rubbed the back of her head with a small smile, this guy was right on the spot. Then again, what was wrong with being homeless? She and Haru enjoyed it, that was all that mattered. "Yeah, well, I don't think anyone in a McDonald's is expecting to see celebrities or anything," a bti surprised some one stuck up for the two of them, she gave a small nod in thanks. " Oh well, we may be broke now;but we still have each other, right Candy?" I would sell you for $20 if given the chance... he said it rather bluntly, Akemi simply stared at him. "...How awful." she turned her attention back to Skylar. That would be 3.59. Can you afford that much?" he sure didn't try to sound nice. " How mean~" she pouted a bit before setting the cash on the counter. " Whatever happened to service with a smile~?" she snickered.

Awaiting for the food, she already noticed Haru was not by her side, he had already grabbed a table in front of a blonde boy. ( Joseph) It wasn't to long when the food was placed in front of her she didn't hesitate to grab it. " Ah, thank you for you're service Teddy. ( Skylar) " It was a rather odd nickname, but she based it off his brown hair. Akemi placed herself across from Haru, it seems Haru had already chowed down on a small candy bar. " ...You could at least share."

~Haru Okazaki~

Haru simply stood there as he listened to Akemi make her usual chit chat with the cashier, though he did have to agreed upon the 'service with a smile'. Seeing employees happy seemed to have a effect on the customers...in a good way that is. Looking around he noticed a empty table, slipping off he sat down in it and continued to watch his surroundings. He could already tell some of the people in here didn't seem all that rich either, but that didn't linger to much in his mind. He took out a candy bar and nibbled on it as he awaited for Akemi, he was hungry and couldn't resist the sweet smell of chocolate. He noticed a blonde boy who...well was keeping an eye on the cashier, he didn't understand why people didn't just walk up to someone they liked and announce it. It would make things so much less complicated, but then again...who was he to talk? He may have never had any 'special' feelings for someone, but it was sure that he wouldn't confess then and there. The red string of fate...interesting. Yes, the red string of fate, tied to you're finger and on the other end was the one you were destined to be with.

He was interrupted by Akemi sitting down, he had finished his candy bar. ...You could at least share."
" ...you would get fatter if I did." He grabbed the food and began to eat, he noticed Akemi's reaction and found it amusing. " Hah...wait, Fatter? I see what you did there. she began to eat as well.

Jo silently watched his sister order the food. He was still habitually scanning the McDonald's with his eyes though. It was a habit he developed when he was young, even in places he already knew, he was determined to see everything and memorize everything around him. It was one of those things that he had a love / hate relationship with due to his memory. His mind was crammed with faces and places, perfectly memorized and mapped out, organized into little filing cabinets within his brain, ready to be brought up at any needed time.

Jo pulled out the lighter from his pocket, and under the table flipped it open and closed. There was a silent click each time, but it should have been soft enough for no one to hear. This was a nervous habit of Jo's. He had to have something to keep his hands busy at times like this or else he would become a nervous wreck. He couldn't do that though.

What he really needed to think about was that old abandoned grocery store. Bre was right, it was a pretty good place for them to hide out, and shouldn't be too difficult to get into, Bre and he had gone in there before. What Jo was focusing on was how to reinforce the place so that no one else could get in.

As Jo was doing his mental mapping, his eyes were a bit glassed over. It never bothered him, but sometimes other people got weird around him because of it.

Casey slowly started walking into the city with an old grungy tshirt and a pair of worn jeans. He slowly looked around the city as he walked, trying to figure out if this would be a good place to crash for a while before moving on to another place. Just another part of his life, just another place to stay for a couple nights. As he is walking he sees the McDonald's arches a few blocks down the street, he decides to go there as it has been roughly a day since he has had any food.

When he reached the McDonald's he slowly opens the door. He approaches the counter and digs around in his pockets looking for change. After about a minute he pulls out just enough to get a chicken sandwich, french fries and a small drink off the dollar menu. He places the order and then walks over to a table. He places his backpack filled with a single change of clothes and other miscellaneous stuff that he has found on his journey.

The cashier calls him for his order. He walks up to the counter and grabs the tray, then walks over to the drink machine and fills his cup with lemonade. He then walks to the table and visciously attacks his food as he is starving, not caring who sees the way he is eating. As he was eating he was thinking about what kind of place he would stay in for the night or if he should just sleep in an alley. He thought he would have to scope out the city a bit more before deciding to sleep in an alley.

(If its alright with you, I kind of dragged Yoshi and Santana along with it... I) )

Kisa smiled at their bickering before she logged off the computer and stood up, bending backwards. "Alright, I have an idea~! Lets go visit Skylar!" She said, already walking out the door. It was a ten or fifteen minute walks away, but it was always fun walking with them. She walked outside, not even bothering looking behind her to see if they where following; she already knew they would. She walked down the street until she spotted it. She turned around, jogging backwards, before putting her hand in the air and waving it. "HURRY!" She yelled.

"Yeah, well, I don't think anyone in a McDonald's is expecting to see celebrities or anything," Skylar's eyes shifted towards the boy. "People like these chase our business away." He scowled rudely. " Oh well, we may be broke now;but we still have each other, right Candy?" Skylar looked at him before eying the girl rudely, as if he was about to eat her or something; like in the tail of the little red riding hood. Once the girl was done bickering with what had seemed her brother, he had set the food onto the counter behind him; he made sure that no one was looking before slipping a paper towel with some writing on it. It was his way of asking. He handed it to her and watched her take it to her brother. The note was simple and only said a few words; "If you do not have a place to stay; feel free to stay at the abandon church on Boulevard Road on North Meridian on the outskirts of town. There is an old abandon church that is quite comfy. Come if you want." He watched her sit down before watching the next person come up to the line. "Just give me a burger and two bottles of water." She said before slapping down a ten onto the counter; they looked ruff, as if they where being chased by a monster. "Sure, what-ever." He said even more rudely before taking the ten. "Your change is 6.50." He said coldly before handing them the change. "So are you a fugitive running from the police? Those bruises and those gun-shots weren't from just playing around. Its none of my business, but if you want, you are glad to get some friendly hospitality from me and my sister; if you decline, then you are on your own." Hs voice sounded as if he was about to skin her, rip her muscles apart and then cut her bones before she died.

He gave her her order; well more like tossed it onto the counter. Skylar felt... watched. His eyes scanned the area to spot a boy, who looked like he was staring at a piece of meat. Skylar almost glared at him like a hungry wolf with rabies; it was normal for him to be like this. His eyes widen as he saw Kisa, Santana and Yoshi walked through the door. He started to growl before he slammed his hands onto the counter. "Why are you here, Santa Claus?" He said almost as morbidly as he could do. He glanced at Kisa before looking up and down her, "Are you looking for a job or something? Twirp." He scowled as if he was serious, before he looked at Yoshi; Yoshi and him weren't particularly close, but he didn't mind her. "Sup..." He said as if he was about to yell at her give her one of his die-awful lectures. He pulled his attention back to Santana. "You should really loose weight, or you will be called Santa Claus for sure." He said, looking around himself at all of the commotion around him. Kisa laughed a little before putting her hand behind her head. "Don't be so mean..." She said with a nervous laugh and in a quiet tone.

Santana shrugged. "Okay. My time here is up and it's not like I've got much better things to do than go bother Smiley." After quickly alerting the manager that her shift was up and she was leaving now, the girl followed Kisa and, assumedly, Yoshi as well, as they began walking towards the McDonalds that Skylar worked at. Santana hated fast food with a passion, but hey--Skylar had to do what he could to get money for himself and his younger sister, and that meant taking any job he could get...even if it was at a fast food joint.

"Why are you here, Santa Claus?" was Skylar's terse, growled greeting, punctuated by the gunshot-like sound of his palms slamming onto the surface of the counter. Santana smiled, knowing he was joking--he wouldn't have been so expressive if he were actually seriously being hostile. "Is that how you greet an old buddy, Smiley?" she shot back, with a smile, though the comment about her weight hit hard. "Lose weight? You, sir, are seeing a beautiful girl in her prime--but I guess a guy with the soul of a crotchety old grouch wouldn't get that anyway, eh?"

Bre snatched up the change and food, then said in a harsh voice, "thanks. I might think about it." She walked over to the table and slammed the food on the table, opening her bottle of water, while swearing in several different languages.
Her additude was crappy so as it is after being chased by her maniac adoptive brother and father. Now, this bitchy, grimy cashier just was the last straw.
She looked at her brother, becoming silent as she noticed him with his eyes glassed over.
"Jo Jo, you okay? Just memorizing some stuff?" She sat back, deciding she'd tell him about the offer while they're safely tucked away in the abandoned store.
Bre took a long sip of her water, and stared at the group of people who were talking to the dumb cashier. "Puta." She muttered, slamming the water bottle against the table. She hoped it would attract his attention, because now all she wanted was to aggravate him.

Yoshi just rolled her eyes and slid out of her seat, trailing along behind Santana and Kisa without a word. There was another idiot with his wallet in his back pocket on the way to McDonalds and she swiped it under the guise of stumbling into him, apologizing profusely as she stripped the scrap of leather of all cash and one credit card before she threw it onto the ground and pretended to find and return it to him. Not so much luck this time, only $12. She almost wanted to pout. In the age of the credit card, her card was getting much, much harder. She sauntered into the McDonalds after the other two girls, and only flipped her hair haughtily at Skylar's greeting. The kid was competent enough, he kept their little "family" as he and Kisa called it, together and alive, but Yoshi thought that he was too soft. He never said anything against her daytime activities, especially because it put good food on the table, but she knew he disapproved, as well as a few of the other people in the group. Yoshi was the only one in the family who really was a legitimate criminal and had no intentions to change that at any time soon. She chaffed a bit at the idea of some American boy only a year older than her who was green as a blade of grass being in charge of her, but the fact was that he did a decent job.

"Your customer service is as charming as ever," she said, leaning against the counter. She turned to survey the full restaurant behind her and wrinkled her nose noticably. "Wow, nice crowd you've got in here today. Are people normally this... dirty in American restaurants?" Of course, she had been in America for almost six months now. Her accent was already amazingly better and always understandable, if thick at times. She liked to sound condescending, though.

Jack had just gotten his food when the group of girls walked in, all very pretty, who seemed to know the cashier, although he seemed not to like the very much by the way he greeted them. Jack was starting to think he didn't really like anyone. He just barely caught what the Asian girl was saying and laughed incredulously. "Wow," he said to them boldly, "tough crowd in here today for people hanging out around this joint. You know, there really isn't anything wrong with not having everything in your life all worked out and perfect. Sometimes, you need some time to get yourself back on your feet. If that means spending a night or two in an alley," he shrugged, "well, you do what you have to do. You shouldn't judge people for being strong enough to deal with it." He ended his speed with a smile and another shrug and waited to see what they would do. The Asian girl snorted and mumbled in what sounded like Japanese under her breath and didn't even bother looking at him.

Bre slamming a water bottle down on the table brought Jo back to the real world. He jumped, startled by his sister's aggressiveness, and too late her question of his memorizing things hit his ears. He couldn't very well answer her now, she was really agitated, and Jo hoped it wasn't just him that she was agitated at. If it was, well, this could be a long night.

"Sorry..." Jo mumbled passively as he looked down at his hands. Quietly he unwrapped the hamburger, pulled the top bun off of it, and then removed the two pickles. He set those in the top left corner of the wrapper and then replaced the top bun. He saw that his sister had not gotten any food for herself, but that didn't surprise him. She despised fast food.

There were too many faces and sounds in here. The deep knife wound on the outside of Jo's forearm was starting to ache. He wanted to get out of here and find somewhere to curl up and forget for a while. Just... forget.
