Sym is six feet, five inches tall and a good 180 pounds. Not that he's ever been measured. And even if he had been, you'd have no idea it was true. But we'll get to that later. Sym has incredibly long fingers, toes, arms, and legs, and yes, his hair is naturally white. On another man, his features might look gangly, but he exudes a kind of calming, benevolent power. The black markings on his face he has all over his body, which is powerful but not muscular, and almost looks frail. That is deceptive, though. Most things about him are. Sym wears no shoes, and often is garbed in loose-fitting, flowing clothes that give off a soft air.
Personality
If someone asked you to describe a liar, saying Sym's name would not be too out of place. He tells distruths like normal people breathe. Which he doesn't have to do. Sym has no particular guilt about lying, he actually enjoys twisting someone around his finger and knowing he has the power to alter their world. So a bit sadistic, with the characters normally associated with a human psychopath. But Sym doesn't enjoy physically hurting people. A cerebral demon, he is all about the confusion and mind games, twisting and warping. The more threads he has attached to human "puppets", the happier he is, and he seeks to collect as much confusion as possible.
Because of his high intelligence, though, Sym is very often bored, and finds little enjoyment in a lot of life, especially the parts where he's incarcerated. Thus, he tries to manipulate everyone around him simply to fill his time. He's the kind of person who needs to constantly have something going on or he will make something, and then hide it just because he can. Rarely guilty about anything he does, Sym hides his nefarious acts not to avoid getting in trouble for them, but for the pleasure of that power. Because of his enormous pride, Sym is not easy to offend. Anything someone says negatively about him will just wash off, because he believes himself to be so generally amazing.

Sym, as an Illusionist, has the power to make people believe things that aren't true. With a soothing, honest voice, people are inclined to believe him anyway, and he has schooled his mannerisms to be perfectly credible. However, in addition to that, he has the power to distort someone's mind so that they view reality differently, especially if they are mentally weak or suggestible. This is a hard thing to do, and most effective over time, as it would take an enormous amount of raw power to change someone's mind in an instant, and that would wear off.
History:
Symarin comes from a line of those in service. Tied strongly to the demonic throne, he was born into servitude. The Taril family is called advisers to the king, but in actuality, they are missionaries, sent to change the mind of any who would oppose him and to keep the population in check. As they age, their power increases, and they become more and more effective at what they do. Comparatively, because he hasn't practiced as much, he's rather weak in his family. Anyway.
Symarin stayed close by the throne and his father through his childhood, learning a combination of silence and charisma, as a child, he was not allowed to talk, but with his tattoos, white hair, and soothing expression, he became something of a curio, and adults quickly found themselves fascinated by the little intellectual. It wasn't a condescension or a marveling, it was a true captivation, and Sym found he could wind them around his fingers. He found that he liked nothing better.
When allowed out on his own, Sym worked to manipulate every member of the palace staff, but especially children around his own age. He would lie to them, make them believe insane things, tell them whatever he wanted and ultimately break them in whatever way he could. The power was intoxicating. The older he got, the more Sym exercised his powers, until people noticed him. Always a "behind the scenes", even in his own family, Sym didn't want to be the puppet god but the silent puppet master. However, just after he took the position from his father, he took it too far, and a demon princess he'd been spending a little too much time with committed suicide around the time an angel he knew fell. Because of that combination, Sym was facing investigation and possible a persecution when he got sucked into the curse on Hirach Au'Far. Though he's bored, he thinks this way might be best.
Secrets:
Sym's greatest fear is finding someone to whom he would want to tell the truth, as he sees that as the crumbling of his power.
