Nicknames/Aliases: Kip
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Occupation: Thief, street performer
Description: Kip is a distinctly ethnic young woman. She comes from a race of humans that, while not unfamiliar to the Capital, have all but disappeared from the city since the rise of the Empress and Esoteric Technology. Naturally copper-skinned from birth, years of nomadic travel under clear, sunny skies have further browned her skin tone. She has dark hair as well, with bold brown eyes set into the rather dramatic bone structure of her face. In general, however, she is rather small-boned, standing at an average five feet fours inches. She likes wearing bright colors, particularly in her skirts. She wears wooden beads braided in her hair.
Personality: A little naive, optimistic, and curious, Kip is young at heart. She is quite lighthearted and believes in good in the world, if only because she has had so little exposure to anything bad. She marches confidently (though not necessarily arrogantly) to the beat of her own drum, which may sometimes get her into trouble because she doesn't have a full grasp of her situation in the city.
Kip doesn't like direct confrontation and would rather run than stand and fight. She does not possess great offensive or defensive skills, so in some situations this is probably wise. She prefers to take a sneaky or sly route, rather than sticking her neck out. However, she will take more risk for other people than herself. She takes insult to those she cares about very personally, though, as she is at the moment, she currently knows nobody and tries to keep her head down. She has strong views of what is right and wrong and tries to be good; however, she quickly learned that she would have to forsake some of her values in order to survive.
Skills: Kip has the ability to channel energy between herself and a given target. At one time, she can either draw energy from someone and into herself, or channel her own energy into another person. Skin-to-skin contact is her most effective means of doing this. Though she could by no means draw enough energy to harm someone, she could knock them over with a moment, and not much more, of fatigue. She can also extend the effects of her ability to those she is not in contact with, though the effects of this are so weak and her range so small (perhaps about a meter or so) that she isn't aware of it. Once she stops using her power, energy levels return to where they were before she affected her target; thus, she or a target do not retain energy gained or lost.
Weaknesses: Kip knows nothing about city life in the slightest. After a life of being surrounded by a close circle of friends and family, she tends to be overly trusting of other people and unsuspecting of unpleasant behavior. She also may act on assumptions based on stories of city life that may not quite be true.
Brief History: Kip grew up as a member of a southern nomadic tribe. Their business in cities and towns was often to sell pseudo-magic services. The practice started out because many members of her tribe did possess mild magic abilities, and while some of it today is still real, it is more often not. With the rise of the Empress, it sudden became very difficult (and potentially dangerous) for them to pretend to wield magic, and they now tend to stay away from big cities where Magefire is prominent.
Kip has always longed to see the Capital for herself, so a few months back she separated from her tribe and family and finally made it to the city. However, once there and faced with an environment she knows nothing about, simply surviving in her new surroundings has proved to be an unexpected challenge.
