ABILITY - MIRROR MAGIC
The user can utilize different methods of inflicting and utilizing mirrors when harnessing and using reflective magic. They can use mirrors as a means of carrying out spells, transportation, entity creation and various other mirror-esc abilities, embuing mirrors with magical properties.

xxxxxUSES → "catoptromancy", or the ability to use reflective surfaces to see people or xxxxxobjects that are far away. mirror communication, or the ability to speak through reflections
xxxxxand communicate with others. mirror combat, or the ability to reflect attacks with a mirror
xxxxxor shield himself with a mirror. at a higher level of magic, he may be able to trap others
xxxxxwithin a mirror or manipulate reflections.

xxxxxLIMITS → a broken or obscured mirror cannot be used, she has to be able to see the
xxxxxreflective surface. if her own eyes are covered as well, she cannot use any of her mirror-
xxxxxbased magic. with her catoptromancy, she would need another reflective surface to see far
xxxxxaway and usually she cannot hear what's being said unless she is directly communicating
xxxxxwith someone. if she has put enough of her energy into the mirror and it becomes shattered,
xxxxxit could be physically and/or mentally damaging to her.

PERSONALITY
Elle was always looking to cause trouble. Maybe it was her nature, but she liked being a problem. If she wasn't being a menace in some way, no one paid attention to an outcast like her. She craved the attention of others, whether that was good or bad - and in a village like Desdarea, you had to be bad for anyone to take notice. It is a guard for the passion and care she keeps close to her heart.

HISTORY
The Dame family was infamous in Desdarea, and not for a good reason. The bloodline was plagued by madness and dark magic, some even rumored that their family was a direct descendant of the Ender of Kingdoms himself. While there was no proof that Kalgiraz had any family that continued his bloodline, the Dame family was originally fueled by insatiable bloodlust that made them an incredibly powerful family. That power has weakened over the years as the family became more and more of a pariah to the witch community.

Elle was looked at to be the one to redeem the family name when she was little. Her parents, Engel and Lyris Dame, had put so much pressure for her to be a "good witch" that she wanted to be the opposite. Elle was talented, that was of no doubt, but she often used her talents for troublemaking. Everyone in the village expected nothing from her, so there was a fight within her to be good for the village but bad for her parents. Her heart is torn, and the next few years of her life will determine what will influence her most.

The witch village of Desdarea was always blanketed in snow, aside from one day of the year. On the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, the witches of the weather specialty would rid the village of any sign of snow for one true day of summer. It was a sign of hope, that the witches and sorcerers of the world would continue on even in the harshest of conditions.

The village center was the heart of the festival. The weather witches and those involved with preparing the festival made sure that every inch of the square was filled with colorful lights and mind-boggling decorations that made the usual dullness turn into an actual dreamland. There was nothing more sacred to witches than celebrations, and Summer Solstice was no exception. It was the one time outcast and beloved were in one area to live as witches were meant to - without any abandon. There were even travelers that came in just for the Solstice, bringing in merchants and entertainers alike to partake in the memorialized day.

Cassian would have been completely content watching the festival from the comfort of his bedroom. His room in the house had a great view of the village center, but his parents knew very well that if he was left in the house, his eyes would not move from the pages of his books. So he trailed behind Nandor and Ilari, hoping to find some shadowed corner in the bright festival where he wouldn't be bothered. "Isn't it exciting to see all the grass again, Cassian? This is my favorite day of the year," His mother tried to encourage him, but he merely shrugged. This day, while joyous for many people, served as a reminder for just as many that they were trapped here in the snowy mountain top and could only enjoy this green grass through the efforts of their own magic, not from nature itself.

But his father gave him a look to play along, and Cassian finally murmured, "It's great, mom." His parents were also much more friendly and talkative with the members of the village, which was more of a struggle for Cassian. There were a few people his age that he could hold a conversation with, but a few of the older witches in the village always acted strangely around him, which made him feel even more self-conscious than usual. As his parents fell into different conversations, he moved to a more secluded area of the festival where he could read and hopefully avoid any further disturbances.

Year after year, Elewin had grown bored of the Summer Solstice. The only thing it was good for was keeping the Elder Witch and her council preoccupied with the event that they didn't bother with her or her family for one night. Engel and Lyris had stopped participating a few years back, leaving Elewin to wander out on her own to have a little fun for the night. There was no way Venus was going to miss the Solstice festival, so she wouldn't be completely alone. Most of witches in their generation would be there, including Cassian and Paxton - who she preferred not to associate with but Venus always enjoyed messing around with the two sorcerers.

One day a year, the snow melts in Desdarea allowing for the grass to flourish. One day a year, sorcerers gather to celebrate the sun shining brighter on their small village. One day a year, Paxton is anxious about his appearance before the people in his village. The Summer Solstice is very important to not only the villagers but to his mother. The people gather around to celebrate while his mother announces another year being in charge of the village. People gather from all over to take part in the festivities and feast their eyes on the powerful witch.

Paxton does not want to embarrass his mother or tarnish the reputation of the witches that had previously been so horribly tarnished. Though years were to pass before Paxton would be in charge of the village, he was still next in line. The people were watching him. His mother held him to an exceptional standard. Paxton couldn’t afford to let her or any of them down. ” Paxton?” His thoughts quieted as he turned to look at his mother, a bright smile on her face. ”Sorry, mother. I was daydreaming.” He explained simply. She giggled and linked arms with her son. ” Try to have fun on this Summer Solistice. If I need you, I will summon you.” She placed a kiss on the top of his head and split off from him, heading towards the center of the village. Paxton wasn’t familiar with the fun his mother was referring to, but he took this opportunity to find his friend Cassian. It wasn’t hard to spot him, he was face-deep in a book.

” We only get to grass once a year and you prefer to read.” He stated with a small smile. ” I was told to ‘have fun’ today and I would like you to join me on that. Preferably before Venus finds us both.” He stated hoping his friend would agree. Paxton did adore Venus, more or less, but she enjoyed rule-breaking and doing things outside of her comfort zone. Paxton needed his structure and rules. It kept him sane, more or less.

Venus loved the Summer Solstice more than anything in the world. The sun was high in the sky and she could feel the grass between her toes. She didn’t bother with shoes. Frolicking about in the grass without them, sounded like a better time. Her parents were hosting a booth telling the fortunes of travelers for extra coins. Venus eventually would help to provide blessings, but she wanted to enjoy the festivities first. She had been ready for this event when she watched the weather witches melt the snow. Venus genuinely did not know where to start, but she wanted to meet as many new people as physically possible. But she was going to start with someone she knew.

She tiptoed up to her friend Elewin, covering her friend's eyes with her hands. ” Guess who, love?” She questioned, a smirk appearing on her lips. Venus didn’t wait to hear her answer, she was too excited to get started. ” If you had guessed anyone other than me, I would have ended our friendship.” Venus linked arms with Elewin and started tugging her towards one of the merchants to see what they were selling. Venus always acquired the most items during this event. Some she purchased, others she swiped. Merchants never knew better and she loved shiny magical objects. ” Are you ready for the best day of your life, Elewin?” She asked, with the enthusiasm of a small child.

His reading was interrupted, as expected, but at least it was Paxton. He was the closest Cassian had to a "best friend", so it was unsurprising that he was able to find Cassian first. He rolled his eyes as Paxton mentioned the greenery around them. "Right, the reminder that we only see this once a year. Unlike those people down the mountain that get it for most of the year," Cassian huffed back. He didn't mean to sound so resentful, especially when Paxton was just trying to be nice, but the Solstice had lost its glamour long ago. But he pulled himself from the corner he was hiding in, dog-earing the page he'd settled on before the interruption and stuffing it into his satchel. "For you, I will try to have fun. But I make no promises," Cassian said with a hint of a smirk, showing that he was teasing Paxton.

His parents liked that he was friends with Paxton, being the leader's son and the expected future leader of the village. Cassian's parents always had high expectations for him, despite his poor affinity for the magic he could control, and always believed he would continue their family's history of being one of the trusted families of the town. But it wasn't just that for Cassian. Paxton had no expectations of him, which made him feel more at ease and himself when they were together.

Cassion surveyed the stalls around them, wondering what would be the least likely to summon the two troublemakers that liked to bother Paxton and Cassian. "Did your mother mention anyone new coming in this year?"

Elewin had barely wandered into the festival when she felt two hands wrap around her eyes. She couldn't help but grin, knowing who it was before Venus revealed herself. "Who else would it be?" Elewin asked in return, letting herself be tugged towards the vendors. Truthfully, there weren't many people in the village that would openly associate with her family, but she had an easier time than her parents or other members of the Dame family. Plus, she had Venus too, and it felt like there wasn't a soul in the village that disliked Venus.

Looking around, everything looked the same as always. "I don't know how you get so excited about this every year. It's always a bunch of traveling merchants trying to take advantage of the 'mountain folk' and those storytellers who always exaggerate," Elewin commented on Venus' enthusiasm. It never ceased to amaze her the energy that Venus had every day, especially on events like this. Some of the objects caught her eye, but she would wait until the end of the festival where merchants could be haggled down to get the rest of their stock sold off so they wouldn't have to carry it down the mountain.

"You know what would be the best day of my life?" Elewin said in a low voice, making sure that no one else would hear her. "If we visited the Capitol one day. I bet if we follow the merchant paths it wouldn't be that dangerous," Elewin said with a mischievous grin. Leaving Desdarea for anything other than a life-threatening emergency that couldn't be handled by magic was basically out of the question, but it didn't mean Elewin would stop dreaming about it.
