Personality

Is a very quite and serious character due to his inner psychotic nature stemming from extreme memory loss. Is known for a laugh but only if you like sick and darker humor. Likes to be out in nature, solving puzzles, and being around like minded people. Hates people who are overly flashy or showy, people who dont treat a serious situation as one, and when he lets something slip his mind.

History

Shifty can only remember as far back as 10 years ago where he realized that he was a mentally aware tree. He stayed the way for weeks before he learned he could transform in any form and morphed into a human. He has no memory of his past before that time including his real name, appearance, or if he is even human. After a few years of wondering and hiding Tony Stark found him and trained him to better use his powers. Shifty learned that he he could not only just change into any biological form but any form in general by structuring his brain into a self sufficient organ and shrinking and rapping it in what ever he morphs into. his size limitations seem to be as small as a dime sized pebble and as large as a 6 or 7 story building.

Due to his inner struggle with not knowing who he is and his actually belief to be is some sort of nightmare while his real body is in a coma, he left Tony Stark's group to train on his own until he ran into Wolverines traveling band of mutants. With Logan's own knowledge of memory lose and his talent of healing, Shift was able to help himself mentally alone with learning how to heal his own body on the fly. While Logan's body will heal own it's own with giving a though, Shifty learned to shift his body to fix and heal itself. As in if he lost his arm he could shift and regrow his arm. The only body part he can not heal on the fly like this is his brain, which eventually leads him to believe that he at one point knew this technique, but suffered a severe head injury mid morph causing him to forget everything.

After studying other dead mutants and super heroes such as Iceman and The Human Torch he experimented with turning his own body into flame and ice. He failed at both, not because he couldn't do either, but because he couldn't sustain either. He couldn't become pure fire or water/ice because there was no safe way to maintain and hold his mind like there were with more solid forms such as rock and metal. And while he could form himself into a being covered in fire or ice, (like Torch and Iceman) there was always the problem of killing his mobility by having to change his body into a insulative metal or the problem of having to consistently focus on healing his burning/freezing body.

In the end he decided to stay with the New Xmen. Not only had Logan helped him further his training, but he got to put it to use and be around someone who better understood his own personal struggles. While Shifty mostly works as a scout to spy out areas he is a formidable opponent in battle depending on what kinds of forms he shifts into.

Strengths: Can shift into most animals, plants, alien beings, and solid forms.
Ability to heal self on the move.
Solid strategist
Knows martial arts.

Weaknesses: Cannot form into none solid elements.
Cannot form into beings covered in elements fire and ice without risking serious damage to own body.
Cannot heal mind on the fly it suffers an injury. Must stand away and focus on healing himself. Time consuming
Brain injuries can hinder his morphing ability if brain injury is not healed.
Can still be effected with rapid and severe injuries, such as a bullet to a vital area that he can not heal in time.
Only heals at about half the speed of Logan's healing ability since he needs to mentally focus on doing it.
Size limits to morphing ability are the diameter of a dime to the size of around a 7 story building.

Favorite forms: Rat, Hawk, Raccoon, Tiger, Great White Shark, Cat Fish, Giant, Giant Preying Mantis, Human for with blade hands/arms.
