Personality

Rain is a rough, tough, mans man kind of guy. He enjoys things like combat, sports and mechanics, and he prefers efficiency over grace, and strength over finesse. If you don't find him at the gym, or tuning up his mech, you might find him gambling in card games and drinking with friends. His rough and rugged nature however does not make him antisocial, just hard and challenging. He doesn't put up with much and expects to be treated directly, and with the respect he has earned. He cant stand pansy people, over emotional drama kings and queens, or people too obsessed with their own pain and strife to not see the world around them. War and loss touches everyone, and anyone who is too blind too see that is either weak or ignorant as far as Rain is concerned, and both weakness and ignorance are things he doesn't tolerate.

He has been in a fair few battles in this war, and has many times been touched by the loss it brings. Many times he too has touched others with loss, slaying enemy soldiers. This has given him the attitude that a battle is one man on one side of the field fighting for survival against another man on the other side of the field doing the same thing. Nothing personal, just following orders. Sure, hes done some things he regrets, but hasn't everyone in war?

Equipment

Carries a hand held pistol with him at all times, as well as a combat knife.

Description
A mech made for special forces. One of the newer generations of Earth Federation Mechs, its extremely variable and made to be customized. Special forces aren't made for one kind of fighting, and neither are there mechs. The hull has a high grade base armour that makes it extremely durable and strong, yet still light, but its designed to allow extra armour to be added on for missions that need high armour, like ship boarding. A task that needs lots of armour due to the narrow corridors and lack of space to maneuver. The arms and legs are the same way. When left to its base armour and no armour is added on, it is a very highly maneuverable mech, this option being prime for high atmosphere and space battles. It also has a rather customizable variation of weapons depending on what they have and need for their mission. All of their weapon slots are easy to change, and very few are rigged weapons. There are slots for weapons on both shoulders, and either side of the core (the holes in the picture) can be fitted with weapons or armour. There are also small weapons slots for either machine cannon or other small weapons in both arms (The small holes in the forarms.)

The weapons the squad has to outfit their mechs are Vulcan Cannons for the shoulder and core mounts, missile launchers for the shoulder and core mounts, machine cannons for the arm mounts, a Halberd for close combat that can be mounted through the hand held weapons as a bayonet, and a Phalynx class mech shield. The shape resembles a round, half dome, the dome itself rotates to the right at high speeds, so that any shot fired at it is never a direct hit, making it repel any bullets that hit it. It protects the mech from the blasts of missiles, but not a missile itself. Any direct hit destroys the shield, and likely the mech as well. The squad is also fitted with carriable Vulcan Cannons, and a high caliber sniper rifle powerful enough to easily penetrate a mech if it hits the right spot. The mechs can also be equipped with stealth jammers, making them undetectable save by sight untill at close range, and also prevents them from being target-locked unless at close range, making them very hard to pin down with missiles and artillery.

Of course the Mech cannot be equipped with all of this at once, or its a sitting duck, and must make compromises for weapons if extra armour is added, but those are the current options open for customization.

In its standard form, its equipped with a carried Vulcan Cannon, halberd mounted through it as a bayonet, armour in the core weapon fittings in stead of weapons, and shoulder missiles. This gives it medium armour so it can keep its maneuverability and increase its durability, as well as a close, mid and long ranged weapon option. Its stealth jammers are fitted into the forearm weapon slots in standard form. Customization occurs when the mission type is going to change, and there is time to re-outfit.

History

"I grew up on a farm in a small area of the American continent on Earth. We worked for a food corporation who sold groceries out in the metropolis. We didn't live too far from the metropolis, but these days you cant live very far from it can you? Well, growing up on a farm, your always working, always. Fertelizin' crops and tendin' to the animals. We even had a couple of working class mechs we used to make the work easier. I guess that's how I grew to like em' so much, prolly how I got so good at usen em' too. I grew up driving and piloting mechs since I was a little kid. Sure the mechanics are different in a military mech and a wrokin' one, but the basics and the principles are the same. Not hard to transfer the skills over."

"Well like I said, we didn't live too far from the metropolis, so finding me a school wasn't too hard. Never did like school though, wasn't ever very good at it. Its not that I'm dumb or anything, Ive always been real creative, great at making things n' fixen them. Even good with tactics, real good infact, thats why the Spec Ops. saw fit to promote me to Sargent Major. Ive always been an inventive thinker, just school, it suffocates the inventive thinking out of you. Not much room to think out of the box there you know? So I never really did too well in school. Was always great at sports though! Hahaha! Ya I loved sports. I guess I was the jock in high-school. I was a pretty popular guy, and I had some real good times! Man, this one time, there was this total dork who thought he knew better about fixen mechs than me. He was a freshman I think, I must have been a junior. Haha, me n' my buddies shoved him in a trash can and rolled him down a hill! It was hilarious. He got out and spewed everywhere! Hahaha. Ya, I guess I was a bit of a bully back then, but I was in high-school, didn't know much better, and I had a rep to protect you know? I never did get good grades though. Its pretty lucky I was actually accepted as a Mech pilot, usually you need pretty good grades. Triple that for my chances of actually being in the Silver Hawk Special Ops. Unit! I guess they let me be a pilot because I already knew how to pilot a mech from my farming, I just needed some military style touch ups is all, and you know, its real expensive to train a new pilot. I prolly cut their costs in half! Lucky me I guess right?"

"Why did I become a mech pilot? ... ... ... Oh, ya right Im still here. Uh, well, its a long story really... Oh, you like long stories... Great... Well, it all started back in high-school see, I had always wanted to travel. Earth was gettin' kinda boring you know. Building after building after building. It all starts lookin' the same after a while. Even on the farm it was like that. I wanted go someplace and do something... Extraordinary. And I was always good at piloting mechs see. I was better than all my brothers at moven' em around back home. But I felt tied down you know? Why? Well there was this girl... I mean, ya sure there were a few, I was captain of the sports teams back in highschool after all, but this one, Cathrine... She was something special. We started goin' out Senior year. Man, she was everything I ever wanted in a woman. Smart, sexy, positive, charming. Hell her smile could knock you flat from a mile away. I loved her. After we graduated we were planning on moving to the moon. I know sounds romantic huh? Well, it never happened. It was harvesting season see, and well, shes not much of a farmin' woman. She was all graceful and delicate. Well... There was an accident... She never made it... ... ..."

"Oh ya, Im fine, sorry bout that. Well anyway, I had bad grades n all, so not many places would take me. Turned to the military cuz it seemed to be the best option for me. Sure there was a war going on, but I knew how to pilot a mech, and how often do mech pilots get shot down right? You always hear about them wreaking havoc on the front lines, you never hear bout them gettin' taken down. I figured I could pilot a mech, so I went and talked to the recruiters. They said my grades weren't good enough, so I told em I already knew how to pilot em, and that they should just give me a chance. Did a little fancy talkin and they gave me a chance after all. I managed to impress them with the simulation tests they had me do, impress em enough to train me as a military mech pilot."

"Anyway, trainin' went smooth, and soon enough I was deployed on the moon, with Cathrine. Oh no not her, shes dead, haha... No my mech. See I was stationed on the moon because it was a critical place for the defense of the Earth, they needed a good few mechs there, plus they were going to invade Mars, and well, the moon is closer to Mars than earth, so that was the logical launch point. And I figured, you know, since I got to live on the moon... Well Cathrine is my mech now, satisfied? Now stop askin bout that!"

"So anyway we got to invading mars soon enough. All sorts of preparations were made, and the training before the invasion was intense. But it was all over soon enough, and before I knew it, I was on an invasion ship headed for Mars. We got into a few skirmished on our way there, but nothing that needed us pilots and our mechs out in space combat. Honestly I was a little thankful for that. Never had fought in space before. Sure our training involved it, and I ended up shooting a mech down in space one time once I joined the Spec. Ops., but at the time the thought of actually going out into something that vast in something as small as a mech, well, it was a little bit intimidating. But after winning a few space skirmishes, we got there pretty quick."

"First off, we never quite got to mars, only one of his moons, Phobos. Second, they didn't hit us that hard back on the moon. We flew right into an ambush. They waited for us to unload from the ships before they struck. There were 8 mechs in 2 squads, I was one of 'em. We were supposed to be the strike force, the tip of the spear. Then the commander himself was in a mech, but he was at the front of the main assault force. Well, the battle was fierce. They came from everywhere. Good thing I was a damn fine pilot, otherwise Id be dead. But the tank shells came from all over, and the missiles shelled the area like a volley of arrows. We got cut off from the main battle force, our rearguard was annihilated. They didn't just have the 6 mechs they attacked us with from the moon. I guess Ill never know exactly how many they had, but if I had to guess Id say around 20. Well, us mechs were too tough for their armour. I must have taken out about a dozen tanks alone! And thats not even counting their infantry. Its amazing what a Vulcan Canon with semi-explosive rounds does to infantry. Well, we were too much for them, so they sent in their mechs. Their tanks managed to spread us thin, so when they hit with their mechs, they hit hard. We got all separated, but me and a squad mate somehow stayed together. Almost right off the bat, the captain leading us mechs was killed. Lucky us he took an enemy mech with him. It left us leaderless and disorganized. I dunno what exactly happened inside me that day, but for some reason I just took charge. Me and my friend went in and saved a third mech, and together we tried a small attack on a group pinning down another 2 of our mechs. I managed to take one out. My first enemy mech shot down. Surprising how hard it is to actually take down a mech, even when your in one yourself. I was lucky to be as skilled as I am, and decisive to boot. We had 5 mechs together by that time, but our other 3 had been shot down. Gone on the radar. I even hear one of em scream as he died on the intercom. We had to fight our way, back to front, all the way back to the ships. And admirable feat if I do say so myself. about 3 quarters way there, one of us got separated, and destroyed. 4 left. By the time we got there we were all so knocked up and damaged I didn't think we would finish."

"Wasnt that simple though. We had finally gotten to the ship when I got an intercom. The one that was separated and we thought was destroyed was still alive. We had orders to leave him behind. Well, screw orders, I went to go get him. And not only did I rescue him, I took out another enemy mech as I did it. Unfortunately his mech was toast, but the pilot lived thanks to me! Got some nice rewards from that battle. Medal of Valour we all got for fighting inconceivable odds. I got a medal of honour too for rescuing my team mate, and another medal for the leadership I showed in rallying us mechs together and saving our asses. Quite proud of my work there I am. I got promoted to special forces because of it! They thought I was too good to do this ground stuff, and they needed me elsewhere on more important missions. So much for good grades huh? So now I'm a Sargent Major in the Silver Hawk Special Ops. One more promotion and I'm a commissioned officer!"

How many mechs have I taken down now? Six. Ya thats right, I'm an Ace. Anyone who kills 6 mechs or more is given that title. Pretty damn hard to shoot down 1 mech, let alone 6. Ya I know I know, my record says 7, but its lying. See there was this one battle, we were supposed to hit a mech production facility of the Jupitris Coalition. It was a discreet operation on one of Jupiter's moons, kill it off and the new shipment of enemy mechs would be destroyed. Unfortunately we got our info wrong. Damn intelligence, they don't even deserve the word. We hit a mine, not a production facility. Didn't kill anyone but civilians. Something Ive always regretted. Well, while we were there, we found a strange enemy mech. Must have been a new design or prototype of some kind I had never seen it before. It was definitely military grade though. I guess a mech pilot was on leave and visiting his family over here or somethin. Well, he tried to get in it and fight us. A couple of missiles were launched as he was getting into the cockpit. He couldn't dodge em in time. Heck I don't think he had even started up the mech yet, but I took it out. I dont count that one though. It wasn't an active mech, and as far as I know the guy tryin to get in was a civilian in the mine tryin to defend his buddies."

"Ya, that was my last mission. But now Im here. Sorry, can't say where, Im on a mission, and its classified. Need ta know basis ya know? And you dont need to know, so buzz off."

So begins...
