Lea is the only daughter of one of England's minor noble families.
Raised as the sole daughter of a noble family naturally means that she has been well schooled in the correct courtly manners, both her mannerism and speech are eloquent. She is keen minded but often feigns naivety, which sometimes causes her more trouble than it prevents, since it leads people to believe she is a fool too be taken advantage of. Lea is typically kind-hearted, and at times can allow her feelings of empathy cloud her better judgment of a person's character. Although she's no stranger to the world of the supernatural, she has had little real experience with it, other than her own specialty in alchemy. Her feelings in regard to all matters of the supernatural are a mixture of curiosity, hesitation, and the desire to live up to her family name.
Lea's prize position is an amulet that she wears around her neck on a gold chain. It features what appears to the untrained eye to be a common Bloodstone, mined from the ground. Instead it is in fact a True Bloodstone, created by Lea's grandfather, Arthur Garmont, using alchemy and fragments from his own daughter's skull (Lea's mother). The amulet primarily serves as a ward against evil spirits, but also provides Lea with mild resilience to the charms of vampires (only the younger or the weaker).
Lea also carries a Spanish hand fan recently sent to her by her father as a birthday gift.
Unfortunately, Lea's mother died while giving birth to Lea, and Lea was brought up by both her father and maternal grandfather. When Lea was a young child her father was convinced by a colleague to travel to the newly formed United States to pursue his interest in voodoo and other occult topics particular to the southern states. Lea's care was entrusted to her grandfather, Sir Arthur Garmont, a talented alchemist who took advantage of the opportunity by turning Lea into his prize pupil. This has a lot to do with the fact that Lea is still unmarried at age 22, seeing as her grandfather is reluctant to let go of his pupil-assistant. (Not to mention that having a family history of dealings in the occult is difficult for many suitors to deal with). Lea typically receives letters from her father about every 6 months. Most recently she heard that he was happily busy performing seances for wealthy plantation owners.
