Roshi Sonin Jr.'s Story

For once in his life Roshi had woken up before 3 o'clock in the afternoon. He had benn training since 6 A.M. in the morning. It was about 1 o'clock now and he had been training very hard and the sweat was pouring off of his face. But strangly enough he did not want to leave just yet. He continued to move different rocks in certian places with his earth release. The Iwa training grounds were completely made of rock. No grass, just rocks and dirt. His shirt was ripped due to him accidentally dropping a boulder on himself. A mental mistake that almost cost him his life. But amazingly he just shrugged it off and continued his training. He was known around the village for having that kind of attitude towards things. I loved it. He was light-hearted, purely to the definition of the word. He felt a little lonely training alone, but it was his decision. he would have to live with it.

"Roshi-kuuuuun~!" Came a high-pitched squeal of a young girl's voice. It belonged to Momo, otherwise known as the Little Big of Iwa, or more popularly, that pest girl that won't shut up. Flying twenty feet above him, Momo's figure could barely be seen as she came down fast, crash landing into a small pile of pebbles several feet away from him. Momo poked her head out of the pile, spitting out several pebbles with an annoyed look on her face.

"Why didn't you tell me there was a pile of pebbles there? I could have died!" She whined in a childish voice. It wasn't even Roshi's fault that Momo had lost control of the flying ability she had acquired from being the Nanabi's host. "And you're all gross and sweaty.. eww!" She added when she pulled herself from the pebbles. As a Jinchuuriki herself, Momo felt most relaxed around Roshi. She had always felt that he would be able to understand her and what she was going through.

Roshi was just about to get up off of a boulder when a females voice yelled to him from above. It was no other than Momo, otherwise known as the little big of Iwa. She could be a major pest. But she was his friend. Only two years younger than him an accomplished young shinobi with lots of promise. It was nice to talk to another Jinchuuriki, she could relate to him more than others could. "Well Momo people sweat sometimes, and don't blame me because you can't control your flight! What are you doing here anyways?" Roshi used his earth release to gently move the pebbles a few feet from Momo. She had crashed down to the ground with a force. But despite that she seemed to be ok.

Roshi laughed sheepishly, noticing how tired he was after five hours of training."Like I would tell you if I was planning a murder, and by the way you just failed miserably at trying to scare me. Hey you wanna go to eat some ramen after a take a good long shower later". His mother on a consistant basis was always nagging him to go out with friends. But he slept to much to even begin to make friends. He kept his sarcastic smille on his face. His sweat started to dry. Which would make him smell horrid."Hey, could you give me a quick lift hom for a shower?" He would hate to walk all the way home and smell as bad as he knew he would in about six minutes.

Momo grinned, listening to what Roshi said in reply to her comment about murder. "But I'd be the perfect accomplice!" She protested before sticking her tongue out at him. When he mentioned Ramen, Momo glowed with excitement, jumping up and nearly staying suspended in the air, obviously distracted by the thought of food, though she was still listening to Roshi. Even though she had already eaten, the girl could never say no to ramen. It was one of her favorite foods, after all.

After hearing Roshi's request to take him home, she frowned. "Eww, but I'd get all sweaty too.." She whined, before taking one step away from him and thinking it over. "Hmm... if I take you home, then you have to buy me ramen. Deal?" She asked while propping her hands on her hips.

Roshi stood there thinking. Walk 20 minutes home smelling like dirt and grime or fly 10 minutes home and pay for the ramen himself. He picked the most obvisous answer. He wondered how much money he had in his wallet at home. He had almost forgot Momo was there. He mimmicked her and put his hands on his hips acting feminine. "Deal!". He laughed loudly and had taken his hands of his hips and wiped some sweat off his head with his shirt. He was unbelivably hungry. He hadn't eaten any breakfast. He smiled at Momo's eairlier comment."You would only be good for hiding the body" Roshi made a crazy face and laughed.

"I would bite you if you weren't so gross." She told him before wiping her palms on her pants before they even got dirty. When that was done, Momo looked up at Roshi. "Alright, get ready, we'll be at your house before you can even see that we're at your house." She said, her weird logic shining through that sentence as she smiled proudly at him. "Oh, and one last thing, if I crash again, it's your fault." She said before placing one hand on Roshi's shoulder.

The two would begin to levitate, slowly at first, but picking up speed once they reached a certain height. Momo flew in the direction of Roshi's house, looking left and right as if there were other flying people in the village and she didn't want to cause an accident. When they arrived, Momo lowered herself to about ground level before letting go of Roshi and landing softly on two feet. "There.. eugh.. I'll let you shower, I'm going to find some fire to burn my hand now." She said to him. "I've been infected with boy cooties!"

Roshi laughed at her comment about boy cooties when he landed at his doorstep."Sorry about that, didn't mean to infect you Momo". It was about a three minute ride from the training grounds to his house when flown. He thanked Momo as his mom opened the door."Roshi, stop flirting with that girl and get in here and shower, you smell like a rat's ass!" She waved at Momo recognizing her as the Seven tails.

Like usual his mother Mia was blunt. Roshi tried to keep his smile under his embaressment." Well I'll be out in about 20 minutes Momo, see you in a few!" Roshi rushed inside his house, embaressed. "Really mom!" He yelped. The frail 65 year old laughed."Go take your shower son, I won't bother you anymore". She went into the kitchen to get a drink. Roshi disrobed and jumped in the shower. Even though he felt embaressed, his mother still made him laugh.

Roshi had walked out of the shower refreshed and happy. He smelled like palm trees and sunshine. Roshi quickly walked into his room to get clothed he had gotten his shirt and pants on when he had noticed something strange. His mother was no where to be seen. He quickly walked out into the living room and searched around."Mom, mooooom where you? Hello?" He began to worry. But something clicked in his mind. But it was to late. Before he could move from the middle of the living room he was hanging upside down about three feet away from the ground. His mother used to keep boobie traps in the house to sharpen his senses when he was trying to become a Chunin.

He quickly turned around to see his mom standing in the kitchen shaking her head in sarcatsic disappointment. She smiled wide "Forgot about those boobie traps didn't you Sin". Roshi didn't even bother asking for help. He always had a way of getting down from the trap that his mom never knew about. He pulled up the rug under him and grabbed a kunia knife. His head began to hurt. The blood was quickly rushing to his head. He willed himself up and cut the line holding him.

Roshi slammed to the ground with a thud. He got up and straightned his back. His back cracked as he walked back into his room giving his mom a smirk. She laughed along with Roshi as she went into her room. He sat on his bed and put his shoes on. He hadn't talked with Son Goku since 7 A.M. in the morning. Son Goku usually slept in the day time so he wouldn't disturb him. Waking him out of his slumber was like kicking a lion in the stomach. You would not get away with it. Roshi made his way out of his house, yelling goodbye to his mother who was probably already sleep by then.

He waltzed out of his house to encounter Momo trying to gain mor chakra control. He had obtained surperb Chakra Control as a child, his mother making him do so because of the great amount of chakra he had due to the Jinchuuriki. He laughed at Momo."Straighten yourself more Momo, you gain more control that way". He walked down the steps and stood there waiting for Momo.

Walking through the village in his nondescript cloak, Kantar enjoyed the feeling of the dry wind blowing against his face. Nice weather would bless the village tomorrow. He sighed to himself. Things had been so peaceful lately. However with the current state of world affairs, there was an unmistakable tension in the air, and it didn't take a skilled sensor to notice that. Was it all about to come to an end? A frown crossed his features. He would have to remain diligent in the coming days. He waved back to some villagers who called out good day to him.

Enough musings, Kantar thought to himself. He had work to see to, time to go find Momori. It wasn't too difficult, ever since going blind his sensory abilities had only become stronger. Now it was actually easier to find someone than if he still had his eyesight. Sensing the chakra of the people in the village, it was quite easy to pick out Momori's unique chakra, especially with the seven tails inside of her. And what's more Roshi and his four tails, Son Goku were with her. Kantar made his way over to them in a matter of minutes, finding the two outside of Roshi's house, Momori practicing her chakra control.

"Hello there you two. Roshi, it seems you've been hard at work today. Momori, I hope you have been keeping up with your training. Now that I am back we are going to have to start training you even harder to make up for lost time."


Kavic spent some time organizing paperwork and the requests for the Tsuchikage for when he returned from training with that young whelp Momori. Finishing that, he decided to leave the office and get some air himself. As he walked out one of guards approached him. "Uhm...excuse me...Mr...Ah...Kavic? A man came by asking for the Tsuchikage earlier. He left before the Lord Sixth returned though." The guard spoke with a waver of fear in his voice, and as soon as Kavic looked at him, he shrunk back away from him. Kavic suppressed a frustrated sigh. People hated talking to him, well that was just tough. If they couldn't handle the looking upon the price of power, and the price of security for the village, then they would always be weak, in his eyes, and in the ninja world. "Fine" Kavic replied in a dark voice, I will inform the Tsuchikage. The guard gave him a brief description of the visitor, and Kavic went off to find the Tsuchikage, heading in the general direction of the training field as that would be where The Sixth would end up.

Momori turned, breaking her concentration almost immediately when he stepped out. "Hey stinky boy, you're not all gross and nasty anymore." She teased, giggling softly as she spoke. Though her talk with the Nanabi did have an impact on her resolve, Momo was still as easy to distract as an infant. "I heard a thud back there. Did your mom trap you again?" She asked while attempting to peer over his shoulder to the inside of his house. It was pretty difficult, considering the fact that Momo was a head shorter than Roshi.

When Kantar approached the group, Momo beamed. "Sensei!" She called out excitedly. When he asked her about her training, Momo made a face, feeling the Nanabi's voice creeping out from her subconscious in an attempt to speak through her, though the girl stubbornly suppressed it. "Training has been great. I think I'm getting stronger by the day. By the end of the year I'll be as strong as you." She said, obviously lying as she ended her statement with a nervous laugh. "But where have you been, Kantar-sensei? I thought you would be gone for this entire week too.. but I'm glad you're back."

Roshi smiled at Momo."You don't need to know Momo". Roshi turned to see the Tsuchikage, "Hello there you two. Roshi, it seems you've been hard at work today". Sin had not seen the Tsuchikage in a while. Even when he was training Momo. He had never had a full conversation with the Tsuchikage."Yep, I worked up a sweat". Roshi looked at Momo and frowned at her. She lied and said she was training and was getting stronger. He could probably crush her in a fight right then. But she was a Chunin and he was a Jounin so that wasn't surprising to him. He walked over to Momo and stood by her, giving her a funny look.

"I had an important meeting, fortunately it was not as long as I anticipated." Kantar replied to Momori's question. He smiled at Roshi, "Well Roshi, I know we don't talk much, but I am glad to hear you are working yourself hard." A stern look came over his face as he turned to Momori. "You could take a lesson from his work ethic Momori. Let's go, your other half doesn't seem satisfied with the work you've done in my absence. We are going to make up for that today."

Facing the two Kantar said in a grave voice, "Listen up, I know you two don't have easy lives, but because of what you are, what is inside of you, you both have to exercise caution in the way you live. What I'm getting at is this, I want this business of flaunting your abilities in public to stop. Now. That means no more flying around the village. The only time to display your power is in seclusion at the training ground. Especially with the tense state of affairs now, advertising your status as jinchuriki is asking to be targeted. Other villages will do anything they can to gain an upper hand in these tense times. Eliminating, or worse, kidnapping either of you would be a terrible blow to this village, and to you as you would likely not survive the affair. Understand that you are both prime targets for other villages. That is why you must train hard, you must become strong enough to protect yourselves no matter what. I know this is a terrible burden, and it is a travesty that your are being robbed of your youth in this way. I will do everything in my power to protect you, as I would for everyone in this village. However the day will come when that is not enough." His grave tone gave way to a smile. "So, what are you waiting for? Training field Momori, go...on foot." Talking to Roshi he said, "I know you have already worked hard today, but since you are here you are welcome to join us. I am sure we could both learn something from training together." With that Kantar set off for the training field. Time to build up the next generation.

Cocking his head to the side, Kantar contemplated Momori. He could tell she disagreed with some of what he said, however she seemed eager to get back to training. Well, that was a good thing he supposed. There was a time where she would have stood and argued with him to no end, perhaps she was really growing up after all. As she took off, Kantar took the time to acknowledge Roshi and his response and then took off after Momori, using his ability to sense even natural chakra and his memory to navigate his way through the village easily and without incident.

Upon reaching the training ground Kantar turned to Momori and said, "Alright, lets see what you have been up to in my absence. Remember, starting today this is the only time you can put your true powers on display, if you want to cut loose now is the time to do it." An earth release shadow clone materialized behind him. Indicating the clone he said, "He is your opponent, first move is yours. Begin."

Kantar nimbly jumped off to the side. His clone stood its ground, facing Momori without expression, waiting for her to make a move. If Roshi decided to come along, he would have no problem making another clone for him to train with.


Kavic walked calmly through the village, ignoring the fearful looks and hushed whispers, the judgement of the villagers he encountered and focused appreciating the chance to stretch his legs. He had been cooped up in that damn office for nearly the entire time since the Tsuchikage's departure. He was nearing the training ground, curious to see how that pest was doing, despite his distaste for her.

Momori nodded, saluting to her Sensei with a childish grin before nudging Roshi on the shoulder. "Watch this! I'll prove to you I totally wasn't lying." She whispered him before running up towards the clone. She considered her possible courses of action. Obviously, her first choice would be some sort of hand-to-hand combat, as her physical strength was one of Momo's greatest assets, but she knew that her sensei already knew that about her, and Momo wanted to show her versatility. Momo weaved a sequence of handseals, stopping about twenty feet from the earth clone before placing her palms on the surface of the ground. "Earth Release: Tearing Earth Turning Palm!" She said aloud. Almost instantaneously, a cloud of dust rose up from the ground as it began to break apart, swirling around a center point that was where the clone stood in an attempt to crush him with rubble. With the dust giving her very minimal cover, Momo launched herself forward, choosing to attack from the air while the clone was preoccupied with the earth release from the ground. "... Momo Smash!!!" She shouted, this time much louder. Momo came down fast from the sky, using gravity as part of the speed behind her attack and her enhanced strength as the striking power. Even if she missed, the resulting damage to the landscape would be fairly significant, if not causing a dent in the ground, the impact would be enough to rise an even bigger cloud of rock dust into the air.
