Home of the first
kehlans ever to arrive on the continent of
Kargana,
Nasiria is a region marked by several distinct cultures resembling the medieval Near East. It's composed primarily of arid and semi-arid climates, with mountains separating it from
Imagria in the west and
Dakaria to the south. The central west and northwest is a humid continental climate bordering on tundra. The southwest is a hot semi-arid climate. Much of the north is covered by infertile plains in semi-arid and, the closer to the coast one gets, humid continental climates. The vast
Kalahid Desert (meaning
Desert of Lost Souls in ancient Nasiriac) passed through the center of the region into the southernmost reaches, where it ends near the
Tyrrhan River that marks the border with Dakaria.
Each of the kehlan sub-species have dominant populations in different parts of Nasiria.
Felines dominate the southern border;
canines dominate the eastern coast;
rodents enjoy the cooler climates in the far southeast and northwest;
squirrels prefer the forested northwest;
lapines can be found mainly in the west;
equines roam the plains of both east and west (hares wander along the desert's eastern border);
foxes emerged from the west and spread across the northern coast;
raccoons are rare and enslaved or poached, but some live among the escaped slaves and nomads of the central desert.
