Modern day

Nathan turned on his laptop. The screen saver of him and Alice came up. Nathan and Alice were best friends at the old orphanage. He smiled and went on to internet.

"I suppose I could try and climb it." said Matt as he walked over to the tree. He jumped up and caught a thick low hanging branch. He summoned all of his strength and pulled himself up onto the branch. "Now Bell, do i have to come up there and get you or are you going to come down?"

Bell just climbed further up the tree.
“I’m not coming down. Not until Kat says I can be vegetarian.” she said stubbornly. She looked down towards Matt, perched on her branch. “Say, do they have vegetarian pizza? If they do I might just get down..."

"Yeah, I think you can get vegetarian pizza." shouted Mat, now sat on the branch and looking up at Bell

Nathan decided to stretch his legs. He left his room and opened the front door. He stepped out into the cold and closed it behind him. He turned and started off down the pavement.
Nathan found the down town district of the town. The skyscrapers towered above him. As far as he knew, his parents could have worked in one. He walked on and as he passed an alley way he heard a bark. He stopped. Stepping back the orphan looked down the alley and saw...a dog.

The dog looked abandoned. No collar and its fur was scruffy.
"Are you lonely?"
The dog whimpered.
"Come on then boy."
Using his belt as a collar Nathan led the dog back to the orphanage.

"Fair enough." Bell jumped from almost the top branch in the tree, and landed on her feet, not even bending to touch the floor. "We better get back to the orphanage; Nathan's probably all alone in his room, cause The twins are pro'bly watching telly, and Jim is most likely doing something else." Bell sprinted off while Kat decided to walk.
"I'd rather walk to be honest. Wanna walk with me?" Kat asked, while Bell got honked by a driver because she randomly ran across the road, making a car do an emergency brake. She stuck her toungue out and carried on running, soon turning rounds corner.
"That's probably the last you'll see of her till you get back, no matter how fast you are." Kat said, and she was right. Bell had ran cross-country once, and while everyone finished it in 15, or even twenty minutes, Bell finished in 5, beating all the fast runner adults and teenagers older that her, and she also broke an area record.

Nathan opened the back door and crept in. The dog walked in behind him.
"I wouldn't want Mes Jambony see that dog if I were you" said Jim as he rolled round the corner. "get him upstairs before she comes."
Do as he was told he went upstairs. He opened the attic stairs and let the dog run up. The dog instantly lay on the bed.
"I think il call you Scruffy"
With that Scruffy wagged it tail

Matt jumped down from the tree and landed next to Kat. "Sure, I'll walk with ya." said Matt, smiling. He walked out of the park and headed in the direction of the orphanage.

Bell arrived at the orphanage, and she heard something upstairs. She slowly took the elevator up, then she walked up to the attic, to check on Nathan. She opened the door.
“Nathan?”
A dog bounded over to her, almost knocking her down the stairs. She grabbed on to the hand rail and pulled herself back up.
“Hey! What’s your name? Quite an energetic one, huh? Wouldn’t let Zambony see ya if I were you, so get back in.”
She stood up to face Nathan, a serious look on her face. “Who’s is he? They haven’t been taking care of him.”

Kat was still walking back with Matt. She was a much more quiet version of Bell, but she still got sucked into her little sister’s games.
“Sorry about making you climb that tree. Bell can get a bit over the top, if you haven’t noticed.’ she said calmly, as she opened one of the bottles of Lucozade. “I wasn’t gonna give her one, cause she’s got enough sugar in her to last a lifetime.”

"His name is Scruffy" Said Nathan nervously. "And please dont tell anyone..." He closed the door and Scruffy jumped back onto the bed. He lay there watching.
He seems house trained....The only problem in Nathans head was feeding it...

"Cool name! Wait here, I'll go to Tesco's and get some food for him." Bell said, running down the stairs, and tripping halfway down. She landed on her hip, and she stood up cationsly. She streched, making sure nothing hurt. "Nothing Broken!" she shouted, before running off to the nearest shop. She saw Kat on her way out. She ran up to her. "Hey Sid!" Bell said, slipping her hand into the bag and taking a bottle of Lucozade and drinking half of it, before stealing Kat's purse. "Go see Nathan!" she shouted, before running off again.
"Bell!" Kat shouted, before sighing. "You wait till she gets that in her system. And she'll most likely buy a few more at the shop."
"Vegetarian Pizza for dinner!" Bell cried, before turning left.

Nathan watcher her go. Knowing her the whole city would know by dinner. He sighed and lay back on the bed. He soon drifted off to sleep
