"Gotta love all things STEM"
To put it simply, Rowan is a brilliant hacker - She specialises in exploiting weaknesses in a computer system or computer network and could break into the schools network in a matter of minuets (granted it's rather simple).
Although, it's not just that - Rowan is also amazing at both Mathematics and Science, excelling way beyond all her class at previous schools. Therefore it was refreshing when she began attending Yost Academy.

"Well, I don't mean to brag but.."
Rowan is, of course, amazing at anything to do with computers but she also possesses a brilliant talent with sign language - Seeing as one of her sisters is deaf (the other is deaf & blind).
Animals also seem to gravitate toward the girl and even though the most she can handle is Codes, Rowan wishes that she could have a puppy but because of her father's allergies, it isn't possible.
Rowan is also able to speak both her father's native tongue (French) and her grandmother's (on her mother's side - Swedish), this has helped Rowan when hacking into sites oversea's as the basic knowledge of two languages (and English) helps her to not only break into French & Swedish sites, but sites with languages similar.
Weaknesses/Fears

If there's one thing Rowan's awful at, it's drawing - Handing the girl a pencil and paper is like handing a cake to a monkey - It's just going to be thrown back in your face.
The best drawing Rowan can do would be of a cat, and an ugly one at that. She just doesn't possess the ability to do such lovely works, unlike the Fine Arts department.
She fears either losing her sight or hearing, mainly because she's seen her sisters struggle once or twice (Especially Clara, whom is deaf & blind) and it not only makes her sad but think about what if it happened to her - And that is something Rowan doesn't ever want to happen to her.
Personality
At first, Rowan may seem a little standoffish but that is, honestly, because of her complete lack of social abilities - If somebody Rowan didn't know approached her and started to speak, she'd probably feign a heart-attack just to get out of talking to them, not because she's a snob or thinks that she's too good for them but simply because she doesn't know how to function in those situations and is possibly one of the most awkward people you will ever meet.
Despite this, she's really rather friendly and extremely goofy, she'll 'fan-girl' about all mannor of things, especially comics.
Most people find her rather humorous, if a little odd but she doesn't mind, thinking of it more as her 'uniqueness' than 'strangeness'.
Rowan's very loyal and once you've become her friend, you honestly couldn't ask for anything better - She'll stick by your side no matter what and although, at times, she can geek out a little, it's only ever in a loveable way...
Protectiveness is another trait she tends to have when with friends; if anyone insults her friends, Rowan will not hesitate to stick up for them, and usually wins - As long as it's a battle of intellect and not brawn.
She's rather quirky and Rowan usually likes to think of herself as a bit of a social butterfly, you just can't say no to her, she's rather charming in a strange yet sweet way and manages to usually persuade people over to her side, with a little coaxing.
While all this is true, Rowan also has a strong Academic side to her which is extremely hard-working. If you interrupt Rowan while she's hacking or studying, you'll get a stern 'go away' and if you persist, usually something, well, a tad ruder.
She excelles in all Academic core subjects while failing miserably at anything arty or to do with dancing/singing, she just makes a fool of herself - Although that doesn't change the fact that Rowan hums, loudly, in the shower.
History
Growing up, Rowan had a fairly OK childhood.
Aside from the struggle of dealing with not just one blind sister, but another that was also blind and on top of that, deaf.
Rowan understood that her parents had to spend more time with her sisters, and whenever she felt jealous of the fact that they were getting so much attention, Rowan would also feel guilty and hate herself for feeling like that - They needed the attention, Rowan just wanted it.
Hacking became a way for her to get away from it all, albeit a strange escape when most people would use singing or perhaps therapeutic painting, but Rowan knew she was rubbish at both those things and therefore, turned to something completely new and original.
It all began when they used a simple application named 'Scratch' in ICT, it was wonderful! Rowan's class got to create mini programmes and even a simple pac-man game.
Soon, Rowan knew the workings of the tool inside out and rapidly began to become bored of their little projets.
Recognising this, Rowan's teacher, Mr. Kennedy, got her into more sophisticated tools and watched as she amounted to something excellent, something only a young prodigy might be able to do - By the age of 10.
She was quickly put onto the gifted and talented; Rowan was ecstatic at seeing how delighted her parents were, maybe if she did more they'd recognise her more and give her a little more attention?
Turning to hacking, for Rowan, was inevitable, she was just too bored with everything for just creating mini games and such, she needed to feel the adrenaline, and feel the adrenaline she did.
Rowan was quickly sucked into a completely new world, gone were the days of creating crappy little animations - Now she was consumed in a world much larger than she had realised - Rowan was a hacker.
It was after she hacked into her high-school's files to remove something 'unimportant' for her friend that she was expelled, her parents, the two people that were so excited she had finally found something worthwhile to do while they looked after her sisters, were in shock - How could Rowan do such a thing, such a sweet girl being expelled? It was unheard of.
