Name:Phillip Bird
Gender:Male
Age:22
---Appearance----
---Personality---
He is a neurotic little man. Saying he is antisocial doesn't begin to cover his dislike of the outside world in general. His childhood left a severe mark on his ego which he compensates for by having an absurdly large one in-game. He can't be happy unless he is constantly winning, leading him to obsessively grind and number crunch until he has the best of everything and can defeat anything without effort. PKing is not his style as it distracts from his grinding but he has PK'd in the past when somebody else tries to steal his kills. Surprisingly though he is quite hard to antagonize, keeping his head even when everyone else is either freaking out or trying to troll him. He is quite intelligent and when put to a task he can be quite resourceful should push come to shove. His main weaknesses is his hubris and that he does not cooperate with others very often as it forces him to divide the rewards which is detrimental to the sole purpose of his gaming.
Offline he is a quiet person who talks rarely and mostly avoids contact with anyone he doesn't have to interact with. He spends most of the day when he is not online counting the seconds until he is online. Something he tries not to show online but someone can sometimes see when talking to him, especially in real life, is glimpses of the sullen bitterness and self resentment he has been accustomed to over the years.
---Background---
Sometimes it's best to start from the beginning. Phillip's childhood was a hard one for him. He didn't have to grow up poor or in a bad neighborhood but he suffered all the same. He was a bit of an energetic kid, always fantasizing about adventures in strange and different lands. He would often daydream about being a mighty wizard or a skilled adventurer going out and thwarting strange and elaborate enemies through fantastical means. His views of the world and the people who inhabited it were highly idealized, sheltered even.
This was what made the soil of his mind perfect for sowing the seeds of cynicism.
Arriving with his optimistic and naive mindset into school, from the earliest point and forward there was nothing but cruelty from everyone there. The teachers were underpaid cynics who carried their disdain for work on the cuff of their sleeves, sharing no less than an ounce of humorless authoritarian dictum in the guise of "education". Worse by far however were his fellow class members. Children can be cruel and these ones certainly were and then some. They teased him for his physical failings, mocked him for his words and the ideas those words expressed, denigrated every hope and desire he so foolishly shared with them and having only the deaf ears of the teachers to turn to there was little to no reprieve to this torture both physical and mental in nature. Imps from hell had a kinder demeanor than the people he was disgusted to call his peers. Throughout this his parents were rather distant. Both of them worked so often times he was left to his own devices. He saw little of either of them and anytime he did see them he confided in them less and less the older he got.
Then, around the age of eight, Phillip's little sister Mona was born.
From day one of her lifespan and each day after she was a constant pain in his posterior. His mother decided to leave work in order to take care of his sister while his father took on a second job. He would see none of his father and quite a bit more of his mother and sister. This was not a turn for the better for Phillip. Already taking care of himself more and more his mother saw little need to pay any attention to Phillip and turned all her attention towards the younger child. He already resented the child because of this. It did not help that she was a constantly screaming little terror. From the moment she could walk Mona would wreck anything and everything she could, taking no responsibility for any of her actions. Phillip always dealt with and suffered the consequences of her actions and the little brat would remain the unrepentant noise machine she was. To make matters worse his parents spoiled the girl, giving in when she would demand something. Phillip never had been entitled to anything in his life and here this thing was just taking what it wants because her parents don't have the willpower to defy her. At the age of six she had even been given a kitten just because she stomped her feet and screamed until her desire was satisfied. It was a white, brown and orange furred tabby named Chester who, of course, had to be taken care of by Phillip because his sister couldn't even keep a pet rock alive.
When Phillip was eighteen and Mona was ten his mother went back into working again, leaving the task of caring for the hell child in his hands. Before this he was able to get some time to himself to work on homework and play video games, the only thing that kept him from going on a killing spree. Mona had tons of friends and in cruel irony actually enjoyed going to school. Not to learn anything of course, the only things she and Phillip had in common was their dislike of teachers and homework, but to hang out with the other popular kids in her school and participate in making the lives of other unfortunate souls like Phillip in the school a nightmare that simply wont end. Now Phillip had to feed and look after himself and Mona now. This was frustration incarnate as she wanted to go out more and more. Whether it was hanging out with several of her many friends at the mall and go shopping or to many other avenues of entertainment the city had to offer Phillip had to be her chaperon, a task easier said than done. This, although completely unpleasant to him in every way imaginable, did give Phillip the kindling of a social life that he probably would have never achieved if left to his own devices. He was forced to interact and project a less hostile outward demeanor in order to actually follow his sister around like the ball and chain he was forced to be. Some people might of even mistakenly considered him a friend, a feeling that was never mutual. As luck would have it he did manage to get a job through knowing a guy who knew a guy who could score him a job doing coding for an antivirus program company. Despite all that he garnered from this however he wished his sister more ill will than anyone he ever knew.
It seemed fate shared the same feeling.
It started with Mona complaining about a pain in her side. She complains a lot so it was nothing notable to him. It would come and go from time to time, getting worse towards the later half of the year. It happened on Mona's twelfth birthday. She had a massive pain attack in the left side of her hips. Being one of the few occasions where both his parents were in the same room they both rushed her to the hospital immediately. Phillip didn't hear the news for weeks until one of Mona's friends came by the house to pay her respects when she heard the news from a friend who knew a friend who knew a friend who his parent's gave the information to. Mona had a large bone tumor in her hip. Phillip felt little empathy for her considering all that he suffered through while she got all the blessings that life had to offer before now. She underwent chemotherapy but unfortunately that did little to stem the cancer. The doctors resorted to giving her a hemipelvectomy, removing the leg and the part of her pelvis with the tumor along with it. His parent's had spent just about all the money they had saved up for getting Mona into college and then some paying for the operation. At first it seemed to work. Mona felt better although she was a leg short. When she got back home she learned no humility from this experience in the slightest. She had actually become more self-entitled because of it. He dared not argue with her on it because no one in the world would take his side and most likely chastise him for it now that she was technically crippled.
Only irony would be cruel enough to put someone through that again.
So it returned. She noticed the pain making another return to her lower torso. Being on the verge of nervous breakdown already her parents whisked her away to the hospital to be safe. Nothing could keep her safe now. The cancer had made a return, spreading further up the remaining hip and threatening the spine. The doctors wouldn't risk putting her through another chemotherapy, leaving only one other option: Hemicorporectomy. The doctors would perform an operation on her where they would sever her entire lower body at the waist from her. Naturally, her parents were distraught. They had no alternative so they accepted it. Phillip found out what was going on when his parents came home and began selling everything. The house, the car and all their possessions were sold to raise the money needed to pay for the operation. They sold everything just short of the clothes on their back. Phillip at this point had to move out with anything before his parents tried to sell it. He managed to save his computer, some clothes, his cheap but reliable car and the money in his wallet which he definitely needed to find a new place to stay. Living out of his car for some weeks he lucked out in one of the rare few times in his life where luck was on his side and found a cheap apartment to stay at. The room had many holes and dents in the walls, smelled odd, had no heating system, sporadic electrical outages and the occasional plumbing malfunction but at least it kept a roof over his head.
He never did realize Mona never survived the operation until someone who was a friend of his parent's dropped Chester off at his place and drove off without saying anything. He looked up what happened online and it all confirmed it. She died from complications during surgery. Not surprising considering she was being cut in half essentially. At first he wasn't all too teary eyed about it. It was somewhat appropriate that Mona's parting gift to him would be something he would have to keep cleaning up after. He was happy to not have to keep going outside anymore. He could do his job from his computer, feed and clean up after the cat, get some food for himself and the cat at the store every so often and have the rest of his days to spend doing absolutely nothing. Absolutely nothing except gaming that is. His social life evaporated in the face of this up and coming new MMO. He spent all his days doing nothing but coding firewalls and leveling up. Phillip never got into drugs surprisingly but this new game was a kind of drug to him. It gave him waves of ecstasy every time he succeeded at something. It gave him something he could never get in life: A sense of accomplishment. No matter how much euphoria this game induced in him however he still could not dismiss this nagging feeling deep inside. He didn't quite understand it. It was a strange empty feeling like as though something was missing from his life. "It couldn't be." He thought to himself. "How could I possibly miss my sister? I am glad to be ridden of her... Aren't I?" Conflict in his mind arose from this strange sensation. To him the scenario seemed to be like he was a victim who had just escaped from an iron maiden and now was beginning to long for it's cold, painful embrace once more. The iron maiden that was his sister had caused him untold grief and yet she was still the most he ever saw of his family.
A sad dichotomy, Isn't it?

Level 1 -
Magic Missile
Type:Active
SP:5%
"Eldritch powers, I call upon thee to manifest my will so that I may unleash it upon my foes!"
A small evanescent orb of magic flies towards it's target, exploding on impact dealing 50% M.ATK to the target. Phillip can fire up to his level/10 number of Magic Missiles per post. The minimum number of missiles that can be fired is one. This projectile cannot miss or be dodged. It can only be blocked. The Magic Missile can only travel up to Phillip's M.ATK X2 feet away from himself.
Level 5 -
Magic Fluctuation
Type:Passive
SP:N/A
Spells that deal magic damage to the target have a 10% chance of dealing double the damage every time magic damage is dealt. This effect is calculated into the total damage after all other damage modifiers have been accounted for. (When GM rolls a 1 on the die, the spell will do 2x damage.)
Level 10 -
Telekinesis
Type:Active
SP:Varies
"Eldritch powers, I call thee to grasp my reality with unseen hands!"
Phillip uses magic to manipulate matter, lifting and moving it at his will. He can only lift up to his M.ATK X5 pounds with Telekinesis, moving the effected target up to his M.ATK feet in any direction. If he slams the effected target against something else, both the target and whatever the target is hitting will take his M.ATK in physical damage. He can use Telekinesis on anything up to his level in feet away from himself. He cannot use Telekinesis on anything Non-physical (Example: Ghosts, an enemies magic spell, fire, ect...). He can only use this spell once every third post. He cannot suspend his target for any longer than two posts. The effect ends immediately if any damage is dealt by Phillip to the target. After the effect ends all environmental effects on the target (Gravity, fire, bitter cold winds, ect) will resume.
Level 15 -
Ouroboros's Might
Type: Active
SP: N/A
"Eldritch powers, I call upon thee to grant me the right to fuel my own power!"
Once activated, Phillip's skin ignites with a mystical blue flame which eats away at his flesh every time he casts a spell, powering his magic with his own life force. Phillip deducts all his abilities SP costs from his health instead until this spell is deactivated.
Level 20 -
Shadow Press
Type: Active
SP: 15%
"Eldritch powers, I call upon thee to descend upon my foes with walls of blackest darkness and crush them in despair!"
Phillip conjures a large circle of solid darkness which descends, crushing everyone underneath it for 75% M.ATK. This wall can span up to about half of Phillip's Intelligence (One intelligence point = one foot) in radius. The shadow is able to be diminished in size from anywhere between one foot to the maximum distance previously defined.
Character History
True to his nature Phillip hit the ground running as soon as he got into the beta. He orchestrated a strict regiment to conduct his questing on, reducing the amount of time he had to spend between grinding mobs and completing quests. Regardless of whether or not his character was permanent he power leveled like a madman. He used up all the vacation time his work offered, bought himself a months supply of caffeinated soda and snack foods and did absolutely nothing else but grind levels. By the time beta was over he had gained twenty pounds and his whole house reeked of cat urine but it was so worth it for that one last level he might not have gotten if he chose to sleep that one night he felt tired in between caffeine highs. He ignored almost everything that was not relevant to leveling. Quest dialogue? Beautiful scenery? Interaction with other players? PVP? Forget that noise, leveling was where he was at.
He had to undergo a heavy (no pun intended) recovery process when the beta came to a close. He spent the time he had before release cleaning his house and getting back to working on coding. He also spent a bit of time working out. He needed to be as healthy as possible in order to endure the first week Heine Online. He rushed the part he had on his project and submitted it to the rest of the team early so he wouldn't have much work for a bit as the clock ticked ever closer to opening day. Then the day came and so did he. It was golden that his character was still there so he wouldn't need to rush as adamantly as he did. He kept to his firmly set course through the game, killing what needed to be killed then turning the bits in to complete the quests and get new quests and so on so forth. What he did differently though is he gave two bits of his mind towards keeping himself alive. The necessities such as eating, sleeping, cleaning the litter box and other small details that made life livable so he could spend it playing the game. Being slightly more orderly might have been the wisest thing Phillip had done since the latest patch came out and disabled his ability to log out. Considering his house could stand to stagnate a few weeks and he could too for that matter meant that he would be able to survive longer than before during his mad leveling bend. It was from here on out he resolved to gather the eight keys to the holy temple, not to escape this apparent death trap but to show that he is in fact the greatest player on the server.
"Meh. If I die at least Chester can eat my corpse."
