Description

Name: Kyosuke Yagiri
Picture:
Image
(wrong colours for the uniform i know)

Description: Kyosuke is small for his age (a mere 5'5") with blueish/black hair that looks more blue when the light hits it, and piercing pale blue eyes that seem to stare right through you. He is very pale, due to being home schooled most of his life. Usually dresses very formally, due to his upbringing, though will occasionally be seen in 'street clothes' when outside of class. In combat he will often wear his uniform, as his weapon means that he can stay far back enough from the enemy that it wont get damaged. If he can find other clothing that he likes and is durable enough for battle then he'll wear that instead. He also wears glasses, though he hates them. Oddly enough, he doesn't need them in Nifelheim.

Usually has his bag with him, which contains anything he may need, eg, his phone, ipod and headphones, notebook and various colours of pens (he likes to colour code things), and a small bottle of medication (he suffers from migraines. a lot.)

Age: 17

Sex: male

Birth Date: 18/jan/1997

Birth Tarot: moon/hermit

Voice Type: (will add when i can find a decent clip)

Blood Type: A+

Personality: Kyosuke is rather odd in his personality, almost erratic, depending on who he is with. Sometimes so quiet that he vanishes into the background, other times aggressive, bordering on violent. Both states are to the extremes, so that it often seems like an act. Which it is in a way. Kyosuke doesn't really have emotions at all, but is good at imitating the ones he sees from other people. Not to say that he doesn't feel things, he just has them locked away so much that it doesn't show at all. So he has to pretend instead, so people don't think he's some kind of robot.

Another quirk he has is that he's always watching everything, always analyzing, searching for behavior patterns that he can mimic. Though at times he wishes he didn't have to he just doesn't see any other way that he can be perceived as normal. He has people that he could potentially call friends, but really they are just a source of information for him, and the whole concept of friendship is foreign to him and is a way of just going through the motions of being a teenager. The only thing he really seems to enjoy is archery, where he doesn't have to pretend as much, due to the level of focus needed.

Biography: Born to a rich family high up in the business world, Kyosuke was taught from birth that in order to succeed, you must always know how to act, even if you don't want to act that way. Thus began his tendency to try to act the way people expect him to, particularly around his parents. This is how he developed the 'mask' as he calls it, his ability to present to the world whatever they wished to see. It became an instinct for him, especially as he got older. Aside from this, he had a comfortable childhood and wanted for little. Until he was about 13, and his father's company started to struggle, which led to problems in his home life. The 'mask' became more important than ever, as he used it to avoid his father's erratic moods, and the arguments between his parents. Eventually the marriage broke down and he and his mother moved to Kyoto, though Kyosuke still sees his father on occasion. Since the move, he's tried to become more like a normal teen, but old habits die hard it seems. He only started going to a normal school when he moved to Kyoto, since his father insisted he be home schooled.

Equipment /Weapon Type: Due to his skill in archery, he uses his bow (custom made) in battle (Pierce type), though he has dabbled in using other weapons

Name Mirror Dragon

Strengths: strike, slash, wind
Weaknesses: pierce, ice
Skills: Garu, mudo, dia, twin shot
Combat Style doesn't have a set form as such, but rather appears as tendrils of smoke around Kyosuke, only showing it's true form for a few moments while attacking.
Lore: mostly my own creation, though the idea is taken from a book i read called 'the two pearls of wisdom' by Alison Goodman, in which the Mirror Dragon is the 'physical' incarnation of the year of the dragon in Chinese mythology, though it doesn't have a physical form as such. Instead it takes on the name and characteristics of its user. (this is the link to the book's Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Two_Pearls_of_Wisdom)

Kyosuke was awake even before his alarm went off, as had happened the last few mornings. He rarely slept well, but recently his nightly sleep patterns had been even more disrupted than usual. He assumed he was just under the weather or something.

Yawning, the blue haired youth rolled out of bed and stretched, wincing as his body protested at the movement. That was also odd, this unusual stiffness he had been feeling recently. There wasn't any need for it, he hadn't been exerting himself any more than usual lately. Yet more strangeness to weigh on his mind.

He considered this as he quickly showered and got dressed in his usual uniform, making sure he was at least presentable. He was quite honestly too exhausted to make any kind of effort with his appearance, but certain things couldn't be rushed. Besides, he lived close to the school, so he could afford to take his time.

Had I the choice, I wouldn't be going at all..., Kyosuke thought as he locked the door to the small apartment that he and his mother shared. They'd gone from a penthouse in Tokyo to this tiny two bedroom place. How far they had fallen since the divorce. Not that he held a grudge against his mother, quite the opposite. He understood how hard it was for her to even keep this place, even with two jobs. It was sad really.

Checking his watch as he entered the school grounds, he nodded. He was right on schedule. Usually he timed his arrival in class for just before the bell, so as to avoid contact with his classmates until he had read the atmosphere in the room, so he could alter the 'mask' to fit. That was how he had always operated, and it had worked for now.
Glancing about the crowded room, his pale blue gaze landed on Lily, his usual source of information regarding atmosphere, due to her popularity within the school. She.seemed rather subdued today, unusual for the dark haired female. It worried Kyosuke slightly, but he took it as a sign that perhaps he should stay out of people's way today. That worked perfectly for him.

It was the same morning "greeting" he got for the past few days. At the moment he would open his eyes Ryu began to feel a soar, tired sensation throughout his body. It reminded him of the long lack of sleep he had back when he was young. Only for some reason, it felt more like he just about didn't sleep at all. He turned onto his back, staring up at the ceiling as he contemplated on what was going on. Was he starting to suffer again from what he did years ago? Maybe he was just not getting comfortable at night? Either way, he had little to no time to just lay around and think about it. Letting out a deep sigh, he got up from his bed and worked on getting himself ready for school.

Dressed in the school outfit, he purposely left his shirt open as he passed through the kitchen and took a piece of toast with him as he headed for the door.

"I'm heading out..." He mutters as he stepped through the doorway. Listening to the empty silence behind him as the long traditional silence was all that replied to his words.

His home was a good ten minutes from his school, a "gift" from the men that helped him find a place to start over. Not like he even cared much if he arrived late or not. The most of the teachers didn't even try to do any discipline at him out of fear ever since word got out of what happened back where he grew up.

Holding his bag over his left shoulder, he walked through the school gates as a number of the students either glanced his way or tried to avert their eyes from him. Yup, just a typical day at school.

Once he stepped into his class room, he just took a look through the room before making his way to his seat. In one corner was the "mask" kid. Always apparently adjusting his additude to appeal to the other students around him. But he could always tell that he seemed to be faking it with the others. He had a knack for telling what someone was feeling.

In the other side was the "big sis" girl chatting with a few classmates. Something seemed a bit off about her as she didn't have her usual energy. Maybe something at home? Didn't really matter much to him right now as he took his seat by the window and silently looked outside in waiting for classes to finally start. He sure hoped today wasn't going to be a long one.

Kyosuke had retreated to the library as soon as the bell had gone, following today's policy of staying out of everyone's way. That and he wanted to get started on his homework, since he had practice today.

Looking about as he entered, he noticed that his usual table was free, one of the bonuses of getting here so early. Everyone else would be busy getting their lunch. Kyosuke would have been doing the same, if today's policy had involved staying with his classmates. As it was, he would wait until the short break between the end of classes and the start of archery practice. With any luck, that would also mean that he didn't need to have much for dinner, thereby easing the financial strain on the household, even just a little. It was sound logic in his opinion.

Making himself comfortable, the teen got his books out and was about to make a start on the dreaded homework when he heard a thump from the window, making him turn round.
And almost looked away again as he recognised the tall blonde. Shido Omori, possibly the only person who could actually make Kyosuke give a real emotional response. The fact that the emotion was abject fear was irrelevant. That guy could snap Kyosuke over his knee like a twig if he wanted.
Still, Shido was useful to him. Most people were scared of him, so as long as Kyosuke stayed on his good side, he'd be okay.

Pasting what, to anyone else, looked like a genuine though nervous smile onto his face, he addressed the blonde.

"Omori-San, good afternoon.", he said as he gave a small bow, keeping his voice low in case anyone else heard, "you don't need to worry about morning classes, I covered for you. I told sensei you had an appointment with the doctor.", he continued, remembering the conversation he'd had with one of the teachers before class started. He hoped it would be enough for Shido to not break his face out of sheer annoyance.

Classes went on as usual as the lessons continued through the day. Ryu typically tried to not get to much unwanted attention during classes to get as much notes without needing to ask for help or information from classmates next to him. This did cause some issues when he did miss notes since he still wouldn't ask for help from others around him. After all, why would they even help a "killer" like him anyway?

The half way point to school was given with the ringing for lunch break. Silently getting up, he made his way out of the class while doing his best to keep a "safe" distance from the other classmates. But instead of making his way to the lunch room, he instead made a turn out the front doors to enter the school grounds in the front of the building. It was then that he passed by the library windows. Noticing the "tough guy" blond haired boy apparently trying to sneak his way into the building. Late? Most likely.

While keeping his distance, he silently watched as Kyosuke spoke to Shido at the window. Observing the situation for a bit before making a stop under a nearby tree. Sitting down under the shade of it's branches, he pulled out his small lunch that made up of nothing more then a sandwich that he had brought along with him. Glancing every now and then to the scene happening nearby out of curiosity as to what would soon happen.

Shido rubbed the back of his head and placed his hand on the window frame, glancing outside to see if anyone had caught him when he heard the voice of someone behind him. Without a second thought, he slammed the window shut and turned to the dark haired boy, bowing in Shido's presence. "OI!" He shouted, before placing his hand on his mouth.

He recognized this kid from his class. Quiet and never bothered Shido. He liked that, except in this exact situation. Shido darted his eyes to their surrounding knowing there were a couple snitches in the library that would leap at the opportunity to put Shido in his place. Shido was ready to knock this kid out and bolt to class before anyone noticed he snuck in but the boy managed to have the courage to speak to him.

"You don't need to worry about morning classes, I covered for you," the boy said with his voice low enough for nobody to hear.

"Huh?"

"I told sensei you had an appointment with the doctor."

Shido raised an eye to Kyoskue and crossed his arms in disbelief. "They bought it?" Shido asked. What the hell? He wasn't used to someone sticking up for him, in fact this might have been the first time anyone's defended him from the teachers. This stinks. This dude's got something up his sleeve and I don't like it. He motioned his head to another side of the library to move away from the window so he could pick this kid's brain. Shido was ready. Should this guy try anything funny, Shido would paint the walls with him.

Kyosuke nodded to Shido's question, keeping his face clear of emotion. This was one situation where he was glad of his inability to show what he was thinking, as it allowed others to see what they wanted instead. It was a useful ability, though it could backfire at times. Kyosuke prayed that this wasn't one of those times.

He slid his books back into his bag when Shido motioned for them to move away from the window. He wanted his things with him though, hence why he packed up first. This was for two reasons. First, he didn't quite trust the students in this school enough to expect his books to to still be there when he got back. Second, and this was a long shot, if Shido decided to attack him, then the heavy bag may stun him for long enough to put some distance between him and Kyosuke. Though that was unlikely, the small teen wanted to believe it would make a difference.

Following Shido into the rows of bookshelves, he debated how to deal with him. If he was going by most people's reactions, he would be better going with making it like he was scared. But on the other hand, that may annoy Shido, and incur his wrath that much sooner. However, if he acted more confident, that may also backfire, as it may come across as Kyosuke giving him attitude. Either way, he'd probably end up a bloody smudge on the wall.

So he stayed quiet, keeping the 'mask' blank, waiting for some indication of the taller male's mood, to give him an idea of the reaction he expected.

Shido led the two further down the book aisles, keeping a straight face and a confident walk but shifting his eyes through the library to avoid glances. Once he thought the coast was clear, he faced Kyosuke, placed his hands in his pocket and eyed his classmate. They called him a 'Mask' from what he remembered. Acts all happy and smiles one minute then trues to act like he's tough. Nobody's tougher than me. This loser couldn't possibly think he could take me on. But then why'd he stand up for me? I haven't had someone do that for me since... No, that shit ended forever ago. He's gotta want something. A thousand things were going through Shido's mind at once and his face was starting to show his annoyance in the matter. It had been some time since someone talked to him in respect rather than to outright fight him. He couldn't possibly think to fight me one on one. What? Use his backpack full of shit to slow me down. No. Does he think he can use me? Beat someone up? WHAT DOES HE WANT?

"So whaddya want? Money? Beat up some asshole as a 'thanks'?" Shido was starting to have a hard time controlling the sound of his voice but he was keeping it low enough to avoid too much attention. How long that would last depended on his patience. This was already a huge waste of time to Shido and he wanted nothing more than to move on with his day. Why didn't he just skip school altogether? Would've been much easier. But Nanna would notice and pester the hell out of him. Nothing worse than listening to his Grandparents act like his parents. Where were they when he needed them most.

"Well," Shido's growled. "You gonna say somethin' or are you gonna keep staring at me you little weirdo?"

Keeping his expression calm, Kyosuke watched Shido for a few moments, figuring out what to say and how to say it. The taller boy was already rattled, from the tone of his voice and how tense he appeared. Kyosuke could almost see the gears turning in Shido's mind as he tried to work out why this was even happening. It almost made him smile. Almost.

"You probably think I have some kind of angle, some other agenda right? Why would I help someone like you?", he said, still keeping his voice low. The library was starting to fill up, and that meant more chance of being seen, "I can assure you though, Omori-san, that I don't. I helped you because I wanted to, it was what I felt like doing at the time. No angle, no obligation for you to have to do something for me later. Even I think that three hours of detention is too far, and I'd overheard sensei saying that the next time you were late, you'd be heading for a suspension. So..I don't know if this is the answer you were looking for, but it is the answer I am giving.", he continued, lowering his gaze to the floor once he had finished speaking, unsure if his little 'speech' would just enrage the boy more.

Not that he was regretting what he said or did, but he was beginning to think that he hadn't completely thought his actions through. That was unusual for Kyosuke, he would usually be completely on top of things. He'd even managed to hide from everyone (to his knowledge) that every single one of his 'emotions' were faked. Very good fakes, almost indistinguishable from the real thing, but false nonetheless. To him, that was the most difficult thing. A situation like this would normally be easy.

A brisk autumn day, the sunset leaving a warm orange hue enveloping the sky. A young boy, around 11 years old with bright blonde hair, was covered in bruises and bleeding from his forehead and nose. He wiped the blood trickling from his face, smearing his arm all the way up to his elbow and stared at it, sizing the damage. The 3 punks in front of him were easily two or three years older than the boy but the boy had balls that matched a full grown bull. Behind the young boy were two girls who made the wrong turn in the wrong neighborhood, scared but unscathed. The boy took a sharp breath through his teeth and almost fell to a knee before forcing himself to stand straight; his body felt like he had been in a car accident. But better he take the full force rather than some stupid kids who got lost in the back streets of Kyoto. One punk yelled to the boy, "Why the hell are you wasting your time on these two?"

The boy spat in the face of the punk and grinned with his blood-stained teeth. "Cause I wanted to."

Reality returned to Shido as he lunged and punched the bookcase behind Kyosuke, not even an inch away from the side of his classmate's face. The books on the shelf rattled and several fell to the ground with a loud thud. Shido squeezing his eyes shut, letting out three sharp breaths from his nose. He opened his eyes and stared at his classmate, gritting his teeth as he tried to hold his anger back as much as possible.

"Don't ever. EVER. Fuck with me again," he said with his teeth still shut like a bear trap. Shido's face was starting to flash red out of rage... and embarrassment from being helped out by somebody he hardly knew. The volume of his voice reaching was near shouting levels. "Stay the fuck away from me. I don't need anybody lookin' out for me!" Shido's face was shaking he was so mad. He clenched his fists until his knuckles were white before lowering his arm away from Kyosuke and placed it to his side. "Come near me and next time, the only thing that'll be left are gonna be the scorch marks where you were standing."

Without so much as acknowledging the gaze of the students in the library, he turned away from his classmate and started walking towards the exit with his shoulders swinging. As he made his way around one aisle, he shoved into a girl as she was rifling through the books on the shelf. Without even turning around, he muttered, "Out of my way," before reaching the exit and swung open the doors.

That...went well..I guess, Kyosuke was visibly shaking as that thought ran through his mind. He didn't even realise that he wasn't needing to fake this, he was genuinely terrified. Shido could have easily killed him, even though all Kyosuke was doing was trying to stop him getting suspended. Guess that showed him the consequences of interacting with classmates. He'd know better next time.

After a few moments, he found his legs collapsing under him and he gripped one of the shelves behind him so he wouldn't end up on the floor, his usual calm completely gone. Closing his eyes, he took a few deep breaths, counting to ten in Japanese, then again in English for good measure. Usually it was a technique for controlling anger, but Kyosuke found that it worked for other emotions as well, by giving the brain something else to focus on.

It seemed to work, and after a few minutes he seemed to be back to normal, though his hands shook as he picked up the books that were scattered on the floor, putting them back in their proper places. No doubt someone would have heard what had happened, and would investigate, but there was no sense in leaving a mess.

He realised that lunch would be over soon, and he still had homework to do, but he was too rattled to even consider it. He'd be better going back to class, so he could at least try to compose himself before afternoon lessons started
