A scientist on board the Pioneer IV who will do anything to advance her knowledge
Outwardly, she seems to look cold and glaring, though this is only the way her face is built. In reality, she enjoys interacting and talking with others. However, her cold appearance tends to ward off any but the most perceptive or friendly people. She is very cynical and pessimistic, though, to a fault; she begins every experiment expecting it to fail. However, her prowess in scientific matters means these expectations are almost never fulfilled. In reality, she doesn't much care for the state of Earth, and is heavily cynical of humanity in general; she can be heard to call mankind 'foolish' or 'stupid', for being unable to maintain their own planet. Her hunger for knowledge is so great, she would place herself or one of her companions in danger if it would lead to an advance in her research.
She wears a traditional Imperial French military uniform in spite of the age she lives in. She also wears a necklace with a red jewel which she has never removed, and never allowed to be held by anyone. In her personal quarters, she has many books, mostly about military strategy or astrophysics, as well as many artifacts and items from the early French Empire and even before it.
Nina Estoc was born in a large town in the French Empire, where her parents were involved in the military. Though she took a great interest in military tactics, becoming well-versed in strategies and tactics, she chose not to follow her parents example into the Imperial military, choosing instead to study astrophysics. Over the years, she accumulated a huge database of astrophysics knowledge, though it was not until she was 18 that she was chosen for the Pioneer program as a scientist, barely young enough to be selected.
