An evil sorceress who, with the aid of her son, plans to overthrow the seat of power in England and claim it for her own.
Morgause remains blissfully ignorant of societal changes; to any unfortunate enough to cross her path, her speech and manner are ancient and foreign. As a sorceress, she possesses a bit of a god complex, and believes herself to be the most powerful living creature on earth. She fears nothing and is even boastful in the face of danger. Morgause is evil at heart; her motives are dreadful and she is driven by selfish greed and anger. She has no need or want of friends, but she shows undying devotion and love to her son, Mordred, and she treats him like the king she knows he deserves to be. Perhaps short of sacrificing herself, Morgause would do anything for Mordred.
Morgause requires no implements to enact her enchantments. She is versed in the way of the sword, and with the help of her magic, she can fight toe-to-toe with any knight. Still, she prefers to abstain from combat and usually carries no weapons of her own.
Morgause is the daughter of Igraine, who was also the mother of Arthur, making him Morgause's half-brother. Ever since Arthur's birth, Morgause has held a deep resentment for the Pendragon line, and during Arthur's reign she spent her life undermining him and plotting against him. Perhaps her greatest achievement of the past age was manipulating Mordred, her illegitimate son by Arthur himself, into the king's court, where he could dissolve Arthur's leadership from the inside. When that failed, and Mordred was killed, Morgause was devastated, but her vengeance was exacted when Arthur, too, died as a result of his mortal wounds.
Morgause payed careful attention to the fates of the rings gifted to the knights by the wizard Merlin, and meticulously tracked the lineages of all of members of the Round Table. The Black Ring, that which was given to Mordred, was lost with time despite Morgause's best efforts, as was the body of her son. Since then, Morgause has devoted herself to the practice of her magic and the study of ancient ritual and lore in the hope that one day, she will find the Black Ring and, with its power, bring Mordred back to life and grant him the throne of Britain, as is his birthright.
