Lucas the Coelophysis's Story

Lucas giggled to himself a bit, "Your too light to carry me, but you can just sit on my back and hang on if you want, I'll try not to go too fast so you don't fall off" Lucas quickly turned his head to the direction of the bellowing, "Don't worry, probably just herbivores, let's get going" Lucas said as he began walking east, expecting Kathe to sit on his back any minute.

Käthe quickly but gently flapped her wings a little to hop onto Lucas' back and gently held on with her feet clinging onto his spine. She looked around at the large, dark green vine bushes in case anything was watching before she started using her beak to fix her feathers and flatten her leopard spotted plumage. She giggled slightly, remembering when she used to land on triceratops' backs and see if they noticed or cared when she plucked the insects off their hide. "Maybe I could be a slightly taller pair of eyes for your back," she said.

Käthe quickly looked around then pointed towards darker part of the woodland," There! Hurry!" she called. She hopped off and ran towards the dark silhouette of the log and ran inside the hole. She looks around, noticing she could see a good amount since she had a dim form of night vision. "Come on!" she peeps, suddenly falling quiet then she heard a distance below that sounded too high pitch to be a herbivore....

"That wasn't a herbivore..." Lucas whispered as he crawled into the log. Lucas poked his head out of the log and looked around, he couldn't see anything. Loud enough to be a large carnivore, and it sounded pretty far away. But large carnivores were rare in this forest...

Käthe's eyes widened, "What if it squishes us!?" she whispered anxiously. She shivered, hiding in the center of the log in case it was a small guild pack with raptors. She peeped panickedly and hid under a crumbled brown leaf for protection.

"It'll be fine, we are perfectly hidden. Way easier prey here and I don't think they are gonna step on us" Lucas whispered, "Besi-" he stopped when he heard a voice outside, he looked outside to see a carnotaurus pass by.

"Damn raptors" it growled, "Don't they know their place in the food chain?"

"Well, you know, half the things in here will attack anything. Hell, I bet they'd attack a brachiosaur, so many of them are brainwashed into thinking stealth can kill anything in here it seems." one replied.

"Nah, that's just the stupid ones, smart ones are probably hiding." the other said.

Lucas backed his head into the log, still slightly peeking out. As he watched them communicate his mind rushed, reminded of how he was just a silly little coelophysis. He was near the bottom of the food chain, how was he supposed to start a guild? Sure he had smarts, but so did some other dinosaurs that also had strength and power. Shaking back to reality he glanced up to hear a large herbivore bellow.

"Remember, stick together. There's no telling how many raptors will pounce on a lone dinosaur, this place could still get us killed." the carno said before they all ran off to the right.

"We're safe" Lucas turned back to Kathe and said, "Let's be careful though, seems like there's a guild with medium carnivores around here."

(So when you post it's morning? Also I'm thinking of having them run into that guild again with the leader being a majungasaurus, but I'm not sure yet)

Käthe nodded, "Glad they didn't see us," she sighed in relief, lowering her body to curl up. She offered a spot for Lucas to sleep next to her in case.

-Dawn-
Käthe began to open her blue eyes. Her pupils dilated as she tried to clear her vision from the sleeping blurs in her periphery. She made a little yawn as she stood up and poofed up her feathers.

Lucas woke up to see a poof of feathers next to him. He squeezed out of the log and looked around outside, it was a little dark but still light enough to see. Everything had a grey tint to it in this light. He looked around and didn't see any animals, although they would probably be waking up soon as well.

"Alright let's go" Lucas said, as he walked down the forest, within 10 minutes there it was, Brine Drifted Shore. Other, much safer forests were around and it was much easier to see things. Pachys were butting heads, guilds full of small dinosaurs were resting, pterosaurs roosted on the rocks out near the ocean as the ocean waves crashed into the small beach.

"It's paradise" Lucas whispered.

The green archeo looked at the landscape with her jaw wide open. "I-I've never seen this place," she says weakly, awed by the large body of water crashing itself onto cliffs and climbing the sandy beaches. She gently flapped her wings, wishing to see the area with her bird's eye view.

"It's beautiful.." she peeped.
