a character in “Primal Instinct”, as played by TristisNox

Description

Image

Name:
Genevieve

Nickname:
Evie

Gender:
Female

Age:
I was born during the war, but at an early age I was abandoned by my parents and had to fend for myself. At the age of 23, I now travel with two companions a raven named Rowan and a wolf named Sindri.

Companion's Names:
Rowan and Sindri

Companion's Genders:
Male and Male

What species are you the guardian of?
Ravens

Description:

I stand at 5'8" with a lean body. My hair goes to my shoulder blades, wavy, and as dark as a black star. My eyes are a as dark as my hair causing me to look as though I have no irises. I have full light pink lips with straight teeth that are made for devouring meat (delicious). My skin is as pale as the untainted snow with nails a little sharper than most humans would wear. My musculature is made more for speed, agility, and flexibility rather than power, though don't be tricked into thinking I am powerless.
I usually walk around in a dark leather vest, cloak made of feathers and dark fur which has a hood fashioned in the shape of a raven's head, long leather pants, gloves that extend up to my elbow and boots up to my knees. I carry a long bow and two knives for protection and hunting. Over the years I have collected feathers from friends and foes that have died and strung them together to either weave into my hair or wear in my ear. The most notable thing about me is the paint I wear everyday, it causes some to tremble in fear.

Personality:
I appear at first to be quiet, cold, distant, and on occasion angry. To add to this assumption is the fact that I am soft spoken and usually have a pause before I speak, thinking through my thoughts and the other person's words. However, anyone who stays around long enough knows that I am loyal and can be very friendly once I know I can trust you. I hate to kill without a reason and would rather stun and run unless a creature I care about is in danger or something is being merciless. I have a strong sense of justice, but can easily step back for I believe in survival of the fittest.
For those who need it I am kind and caring. If I see something hurt, I will try to help unless the creature is beyond repair then I will sit with it until it no longer breathes. I am strong, independent, but do enjoy company. I can be found conversing with Rowan and Sindri or any other creature that joins me on my journey to wherever. I can be on occasion very sarcastic.

Likes:
Meat, Archery, Freedom, Heights, Adventures, Mischief, Solitude, Running, Berries, Rowan, Sindri

Dislikes:
Cages, Cornered, Being treated like I'm a nuisance/naive, Being bored, Extreme cold

Fears:
Living the remainder of my life in a cage, watching people I care for die, Being powerless

History:

I was born during a time of war. Everything or near everything died or evolved beyond what anyone could have thought. Not that I noticed since I was but a child. When I was about six my parents abandoned me to the wild probably hoping I would die. They were cruel to me, beating me when I acted my age. I learned to survive in the apocalyptic wild, honing my archery and stealth. When I was nine (ish) an Unkindness of ravens found me nearly freezing to death and took me in. Smarter than before the war they nursed me to full health and taught me further in the way of hunting. In return for helping me, I became the guardian of ravens making sure very little harm came to my Unkindness or any ravens. Over time I found that I could understand them, my eyesight was far superior than most (extinct) human's, and my agility was masterful. I learned the unique hunting skills of working not only with ravens but also wolves. My Unkindness found and bonded with a pack when I was around the age of twelve. We would find prey and signal back to the wolves where it was. Once the Wolves brought down the meal, we would go in and feast along side them. Although I did not share the same bond with the wolves as I did with the ravens, a new alliance was formed.
As with many creatures that roam the world, once I was deemed an adult by my adopted family I left to find my own territory to claim and family to form. I was alone for a few years, wandering around not yet ready to claim any territory for myself. At the age of 19 I came across a raven chick with no parents in sight. I took him in and we have been an Unkindness since. That same year a wolf pup wandered into my nesting area and joined our family. We have been a wandering threesome since that day.

He looks after his adopted Unkindness fiercely and if he believes you will cause Evie or Sindri harm, he will not hesitate to use is strong beak, sharp talons, or drop objects to protect his own. Although he tends to be more of a loner and can be friendly and is quite curious.

Sindri

Species:
Wolf

Age:
Four years of age

Gender:
Male

Personality:
Where Rowan is content hiding in the rafters looking over everyone, Sindri likes to be in the middle of things. He is social, fun loving, and friendly. Unless he really does not trust you, he will freely greet you like an old friend. He sees Evie as his Alpha and has no qualm acting as her Beta when the times call for it. Although he more open than his feathered friend, he can be fierce and won't think twice about killing. He will protect his pack no matter what even if it means sacrificing himself.

It was a weird sort of peace. The city was quiet with the exception of a few animals calling to one another. Evie stood on top of a building long since abandoned by her people. She loved heights and looking over the different towns and cities that once housed thousands of people. Now a wasteland taken over by nature. Breathtaking...
Having just arrived, she continued along the tightrope like edge of the building that was ready to crumble at any time. Her dark eyes swept over the city below and where she stepped memorizing landmarks for later. Wanting to cross over to the other side to check out the buildings there, she anchored one end of the rope and then shot her arrow to the other side. Satisfied that the arrow was securely imbedded, Evie unstrung her bow and used it to zip-line to the other side. Rowan waited expectantly for her, shaking his head at her absurdity. She smiled kindly at her friend before restringing her bow and retrieving her arrow. As she waited for Sindri to find a way to the top of the building, she crouched on the ledge and watched the semi-deserted streets below.

At first Evie thought she was seeing ghosts (not that she believed in them, but you never knew in this world), but her eyes were not deceiving her. A lone figure walked out of the radiation cloud and into the clear area. Soon after something jumped out from the figures coat; a fox. Interesting. It has been a while since I have seen another such as myself. Evie's eyes kept watching as the man disappeared in the dust cloud and possibly into the building adjacent from where the trio watched.
"Sindri, we have your cousins." She talked quietly to her canine friend. The wolf's ears perked as he trotted to the edge to see over. He rumbled happily. "Shall we see how this plays out before we introduce ourselves?" Sindri sneezed an agreement while Rowan took off towards the building. Who would suspect a bird? "Be safe." She whispered on the wind, his cry replied he would.

Soel cloaked his scent as he hid on a wooden support beam in the ceiling. He watched the wolf girl as she entered. Axis stayed well hidden on the beam by laying down and melting into the shadows. Soel knew that this building echoed, so he chose to respond. "It depends...do you plan to harm us? If so, then foe. If not, then it still depends. For you could be lying, which, for you see, we have to take into account..." As his voice echoed around the room, the place it came from became impossible to find. His presence had disappeared as if her senses had suddenly stopped working. Soel then caught the scent of a bird. It smelled like a raven. 'Well this day keeps getting better and better...' he thought with a smirk. It seemed that play time was about to begin. And with the game including a wolf, a raven, and a fox, things were going to get interesting.

Soel snuck up behind Sirene silently and sniffed her neck gently. He easily did a hand-spring over her so he landed in front of her face. Soel clicked his tongue lightly and Axis trotted over to his side. Soel was still crouching in his usual perch-like way. He pet Axis's head, who nuzzled him in response. Soel said nothing. He just sat incredibly still and silent, while staring at her curiously.

Curiouser and curiouser. Evie thought as she waited patiently with Sindri. Her wolf companion was getting antsy, wanting to meet wolves for the first time in over a year. "Go, howl if you need me. My arrow will fly true." Sindri gave a wolfish grin before disappearing from the roof. She hadn't heard from Rowan so all must be going well.
Evie let out a high pitch whistle before repeating what she had done hours earlier. Almost silently, she zipped through the air and landed gracefully on top of the building that housed the two other guardians. She wasn't ready to meet them but it didn't mean she wasn't going to watch them like ravens in the rafters.

Soel simply watched her quietly. He smelled the raven nearby. As he looked up, he cooed, "Might as well come out, little raven...I know you're hiding above our heads..." Soel smiled to himself beneath his scarf and his eyes held a playful glimmer. He turned back to Sirene and pulled his scarf down so she could see his smile. "I'm just a fox. Simply a fox." Soel replaced his scarf so she couldn't see the lower half of his face. "Your scent is nice..." He forced himself not to blush or show emotion, but a slight pink hue flashed across his pale features.

Soel rolled his pretty silver eyes at the bird playfully. "I meant your human friend, raven...not you..." His voice was soft and smooth with a melodic sound to it. Soel heard a creaking in the floor above him. "We need to leave. Now-" Soel was cut off by the roof collapsing. Soel felt an iron rod from the ceiling impale his shoulder, and a heavy piece of the rafters trap with body in the rubble. He gasped for air, his lungs burning from the dust. Soel began to struggle, and soon got the rafter off of him. While pulling the iron rod out of his shoulder, he coughed up a bit of blood. "Axis!" he called. The small black fox poked his head out of the rubble and shook itself free. Soel began searching for the others and soon found both of the other guardians. Soel quickly freed them from the ceiling remaints and got them outside. After they were all safely out, Soel collapsed from blood-loss.

Shit! Evie cried as her footing was lost when the roof caved in. Having fallen thousands of times, she let her body free fall until her feet hit the ground first and then she rolled. The pale man helped her up and then went to help the other woman. Brushing herself off, Evie looked for her friends with panic pulsing through her. She found Rowan flying above, having narrowly escaped rumble falling on him, and Sindri shaking off dust. After making sure everyone else got out, she ran over just in time to skid to a stop and catch the pale man.
Pushing off her hood, Evie applied pressure to the oozing wound. Her onyx eyes looked up to Rowan. "Please go into my bag and find my needle set. We need to saw him up or he may not make it." She coughed trying to clear her lungs of the dust and debris that she had inhaled when the roof collapsed. As she continued to apply pressure, Sindri walked over and licked the blood seeping through her fingers.

Soel slowly forced his eyes to open. Axis growled at Sindri and nipped at him to keep him away from Soel. Soel made himself stand, even though a small blood puddle was forming at his feet. He stumbled a bit, but steadied himself and began to walk in the direction of an old cave that smelled like a fox den. He used to live in this area two years ago. Then he left in search of others. Apparently wolves and ravens had moved in. Fools. Calling this territory theirs when it was his to begin with. Soel tripped and fell to one knee, but he quickly regained himself and pushed on.

Sirene made an awkward noise, and rushed to him, she was on her way to check on him anyway. "Mr. Fox, I can call you that right? You never gave me another name, and I am talking way too much. Let's get you the den, you'll be safe with us." She shoulders his arm on the uninjured side, and takes half his weight to help him to the Den. "We're always ready to move out, just in case the owner of this cave ever comes back, but it's been a half a year since we moved in and no one has claimed it besides us." She rests him on a make shift cot that is obviously where she sleeps, it's covered in her scent. "The Raven lady sewed you together, she said it might not be safe to move you 'till you moved yourself." Sle leaned over him. "Excuse me." She gingerly touched his wound and sniffed her hand, then offered it to her parents who were close at her heels. "Blood is the quickest way for us to catch and remember a scent, so don't be surprised if any others say hello. I'm going to get a few things, your fox friend should be back shortly, I don't know where he went. Regardless, the pack will protect you until I return." She gave him a reassuring smile and left on a specific mission.

Soel shrugged her away. He growled and spat at the wolves, making sure they stayed well away from him. Once the strange girl returned, Axis and Soel glared at her intently. Soel was sitting criss-cross in the center of the cave. His shirt had been cast aside so his wound could get enough air. "Damn wolves...acting like they own this territory..." he mumbled just loud enough for them to hear. Then he raised his voice, his anger showing in his words, "This territory belongs to me as of the end of the war. Two years ago Axis and I left to find other survivors." His eyes narrowed at Sirene. "And now that we've returned, wolves have moved in calling it THEIR territory. THEIR nest." Soel chuckled darkly, "You weren't born here and raised here. You didn't survive the war here. And this isn't your home." He noticed a wolf inch a little closer and he growled, forcing it back. "I should be the one kicking YOU out..." He took a silent deep breath and seemed to relax back into his mysterious, unreadable nature. "If you wish to remain here, you will play by our rules. Understand?"

Soel's playful glimmer reappeared for a split second in his eyes. He knew exactly what she was thinking, and he didn't blame her. He sighed dramatically. "I suppose you can stay if you promise me three things..." he said to get her attention. Once he had it, he continued. "One, is that we will coexist as friends and help each other when needed." He hopped back into his usual perched sitting position. "Two, is that if either you or I desire some space, they are allowed to have it." Soel gave a faint smile as he said the last term. "And three, is that you are never allowed to enter that radiation cloud again." He seemed to be back to his usual self, and he had obviously forgiven her. He flashed her a playful grin.

Soel gave a mischievous smile, making sure to keep his sharp teeth hidden. They were the one part of himself he'd rather not show anyone. It seemed to make people uneasy, as did his claw-like nails. But at least those seemed more likely than canines. Soel's eyes stayed calm. They had an eerie, mysterious sparkle in them. He smirked slightly. Soel could read anyone like a book. It was obvious by her eyes and nervous demeanor that he made Sirene intrigued and confused. He couldn't help but be curious as well. The last time he had really spoken to another human was when he was seven. When his parents died. Soel leaned forward and sniffed her neck silently again. He liked the way she smelled. For such a hyper girl, her scent was quite calming. Soel smiled knowingly and pinned her to the ground. "You're injured aren't you? I can smell the blood mingled with your scent..." His voice was back to his usual smooth sound. Such a soft-spoken voice should sound more masochistic, but it sounded more hypnotic, seductive. Almost like he could control everything around him a single word.

Evie watched as the man all but stormed off. She stayed where she was and watched as the other female went to help him and then bring him to a nearby den. Not bothering to move her dark eyes moved to where the fox was nipping at Sindri. Getting fed up, the wolf snapped back. "Be kind, he is protecting his own." Sindri bared his teeth but let the fox be instead of fighting back.
Finally standing, Evie walked where the other two were but did not enter. This place was neither their den nor nest, she did not want to intrude. She listened to the man whisper harshly to himself. Her eyes narrowed but she remained silent, instead pulling her hood back up. As her usual unsocial self, Evie watched the two guardians interact and kept watch to make sure both were fine. She was never one to enter a sacred space without invitation.

Soel easily slipped to the side and removed her shirt. His eyes went straight to her wounded side as he set to work cleaning the wound and bandaging it. After Sirene's wound had been taken care of, he called to the raven girl. "You can come in you know... It's not exactly a locked room..." He turned and caught her gaze. "Besides, you're our friend now correct?" He gave a playful half-smile and was about to stand up, when he got light-headed. Soel shook his head gently to clear it and moved to a dark corner of the den. Then he laid down and curled up, instinctively keeping his injured shoulder well guarded. 'Damn...it seems I've endured more blood loss than I originally thought...' Soel sighed and shivered slightly against the cold, damp ground. Axis curled into the bend in Soel's legs and fell asleep, but Soel seemed very intent on staying awake.

Soel looked at the blanket like it was going to try and eat him at any second. "What exactly is that...?" He couldn't help but be confused. 'Maybe it's something humans use...? But as far as I can see, it's useless... So what could it possibly be used for...?" The last time Soel had spoken to a human was when he was seven. Which was twelve year ago. He had raised himself and, to be honest, only knew a handful of human ways including speaking, playing his flute, cooking, and healing. Just a few basic necessities to survive. Other than that, he didn't even really know what anything from their world was. Soel quickly lost his mature-facade, which was replaced with his true, childish nature. He cautiously sat up and sniffed it gently. It smelled like Sirene. A small gust of wind then blew through the opening to the cave, causing the blanket to shift slightly. Startled, Soel backed up a few steps rather quickly and ended up cornered with his back against the wall of the cave. His eyes were wide with curiosity as a flash of fear crossed them.

Soel noticed her body tense immediately. His mature, mysterious demeanor also returned as he placed his arm around her and held her close. His strong arms steadied her while his body heat let her know that he was there for her. He then remembered that she didn't know his name yet. Thinking it might distract her from her troubles, he finally answered her. "Soel..." He smiled gently. "My name is Soel..."

Soel's attention focused solely on Sirene. He chuckled quietly and felt a desire. One that he'd never felt, nor even considered before. "Sure..." His smile and fondness of her could be clearly heard in his voice. He continued to hold her close to him as he gently brushed his fingers against her cheek. 'What is this...? I've never felt these emotions before... How is it that she can so easily captivate me...?' he thought.

Soel thought about it. "I'm not sure I have one... I find all colors equally valuable and equally important. Without one, we would lose many others...and soon we would be color blind..." He felt the need to hold her closer, so he slipped his arm a little lower, holding her waist. Then he thought of a question. "How did you become a guardian...?" He rested his cheek on the top of her head. His heart began to beat a little faster. 'What is this...?'

Soel smiled and nodded. "His name is Axis..." He pet the small black fox's soft head lovingly. "When I was twelve, I found him as a pup. He was injured and a man was towering over him... Without thinking, I drew my knife and slashed at the man... Once the man had left, I took Axis back here to the cave and healed him... He's been with me ever since..." Soel's strange desires began to get stronger. He thought about it for a second. What he said had to be a question. That was the game right? "Can you close your eyes...?"
