"I could fall, or I could fly
Here in your aeroplane
I could live, or I could die,
Hanging on the words you said.
Oh, I've been known to give my all,
And jumping in harder than
Ten thousand rocks on a late."

”Hey, Jax?” Noah’s voice boomerangs off the tiled bathroom walls of the two bedroom apartment, down the narrow hallway and into the living room where Jaxon sits. The blonde’s eyes are fixed on the laptop screen in front of him, fingers tapping at the keys to form words that will eventually turn into the company’s new sales pitch. The break in his concentration hardly gives him enough time to respond with a soft hum before Noah comes to a stop in front of him. Jaxon’s eyes deviate from the jumble of letters to the tall, blonde male to which he responds with a loud whistle.
”Well look at you sexy betsy” Noah quirks a smile, somehow feeling validated by his friend’s compliment.
”It’s not too much?” he asks, nervously tugging at his jacket sleeve. As tempted as he is to mess with the guy, Jaxon opts to be honest instead, knowing that the slightest negative comment, even as a joke, will have Noah running right back to his closet to stress over what is appropriate to wear.
”Not at all. If you weren’t so annoyingly straight, I’d do you in a heartbeat.” Noah responds with a roll of the eyes, but the subtle smile pulling at his lips is enough to tell Jaxon his comment has made him feel slightly more confident. It also felt nice on his part. Even if Noah is the only one to know the truth about Jaxon’s sexual preferences, it’s a wild relief to not have the need to hide from his own roommate. He watches as the blonde stops in front of the hallway mirror, tossing his hair every which way until he’s satisfied with how it falls.
Jaxon returns his attention to his work, only to be stopped seconds later by Noah’s obscure question.
”Shouldn’t you bed getting dressed? We’re an hour and a half drive away.” Noah watches the dark eyes behind the laptop regard him with confusion, as if he had been speaking some ancient language Jaxon has never heard about.
”You are coming with me, aren’t you?” If the readjusting himself on the couch hadn’t made the answer clear to Noah, the response definitely did.
”When did I say I would?” Noah turns on his heels, arms folding across his chest defensively. His deep blues pierce into Jaxon’s in an effort to convince him.
”You’re seriously going to send me out there on my own?” He notices Jaxon’s stifled laugh as his eyes shift between himself and the laptop screen.
”You’re a big boy, I’m sure you can handle it.” Noah pauses,
"I don't give you my heart as easily as you'd like,
but still melt you with my lies
like a hot cocoa in the winter.
Had to tell you that I lied to you,
but you know I'm a pretender.
So let me tell you what's on my mind.
I'm sorry I can't be that guy
Don't expect too much from me."

Jaxon’s words triggering something inside him. Can he really handle it on his own? It’s been years upon years since he’s seen anyone from high school. save Jaxon and the occasional communication with his old friend Jayson. Most faces he’s forgotten, but there’s a few or rather one in particular that he’s not prepared to see. The last time he saw it was when she declared that she was moving on and leaving him in the dust. As much as he would like to say he’s over it, he would be lying through his teeth if he did.
Noah lets a soft sigh escape his lips as he takes a seat on the edge of the coffee table facing Jaxon, eyebrows knitted together in worry.
”Come on Jax…what if I run into her? I’m going to need back up.” Jaxon lets his back rest against the leather couch, arms folding across his chest and one dark brow cocked in Noah’s direction. There's no need for Noah to elaborate on who the “her” is. Jaxon knows well enough.
"I think it's time you stop living in the past and realize that she's not worth it." Noah frowns, but nods his head in the other's direction as if to say that's his point exactly. No one will ever tell things to him straight the way Jaxon does.
”And you seriously want me to give up my only off day to go with you to an ancient building full of people I never even liked just because of the chance you might see your ex?” Noah nods pointedly before Jaxon can even finish, earning an exasperated sigh from the latter.
”You didn’t like me either, remember?” the former jock argues, index finger pointed knowingly. Jaxon leans forward, elbows resting on his fabric covered knees.
”Right, and I still don’t. So go by yourself.” Noah’s lips morph into a pout. That pout Jaxon has come to realize he’s got a soft spot for. Luckily, Noah has yet to figure it out.
”Come on, it’ll be fun! Besides, don’t you wanna show off to our old classmates that you’re successful and ten times sexier than you were back then?” the wink added at the end is unnecessary, Jaxon notes, but it manages to do the trick. He shuts the laptop with a loud click and a heavy sigh before locking eyes with a very excited Noah.
"If you get too drunk to drive back I'm leaving your ass there." Noah accepts the threat and gets to his feet with a loud clap of his hands, giving Jaxon enough room to get off the couch and run into his room to change.
