Age: Mia has been alive for 25 years though she looks merely 16-17.
Appearance: For a seal Mia makes for one beautiful human. With creamy skin sporting a few grey blemishes and frosty white hair her selkie trade marks only compliment her humaniod form more. Being a female selkie she stands at a petite 5'2 and inhabits a small but fairly shapely human form. Being a selkie she has the tendancy to always be warm skinned due to having an extra layer of fat beneath her skin- not that you could tell; but when you touch her whether it be autumn, winter, summer or spring you'll be pleasantly surprised to find she's always warmer than you. Her hair is cross between wild and wavy. It tumbles down her back until it reaches the root of her spine. Her hands and feet (size3) are tiny which tends to send many into a spiral of 'awhs' at how positively 'darling' she is to look at. Mia also has large, coca coloured eyes though they usually are mistaken for black like most selkies.
When Abby and Duke arrive, Mia trims her whiskers into her eyebrows and files down her nails to give her an even more human appeal. She feels personally that she's done a rather smashing job.
Occupation: Mia is a student though she works part time in her family shop which sells all kinds of food for the various walks of life that prop up in the sanctuary. (This too has to be rearranged when the humans arrive to prevent them from picking up on the citizens bizzare eating habits.
Alliance: Overworld.
Race: Mia is a Selkie. This means that technically Mia is a seal who can shed her skin to become human. Though unlike any other animal that sheds it skin Mia must keep ahold of her pelt at all costs! Otherwise she will never be able to turn back into a seal and return to the sea which is her original origin.
Personality: Mia has a shade for everyone. She can mold herself to communicate with others even though they may have very different views to her. It's a rarity that she'll be found in a horrendous, long term dispute with any creature but she has a point of view and believes she has a right to share it the only problem is how you decide to share it. Mia tends to do it 'nicely' unless others are purposely forceful or threatening. Being a female Selkie she's soft and sensitive. Mia enjoys the feeling of love and admiration and soaks up the smiles and friendly attitude of others.
Basically being an animal Mia is very intouch with her instincts. Surprisingly for a female Selkie she's considerably out going and independant outside the 'pod' (pack of selkies) since arriving at the sanctuary there has been barely any threat against her race so Mia has grown confident and no longer relies on the big, burly male selkies to escort her about inorder to protect her from harm. She can hold her own- and she likes it that way. Mia is attentive and feels a fire like defence for young children and babies as well as her large family.
Though she's confident its no surprise that she's still weary of males. She feels uncomfortable at close contact and the threat they all impose.
She in positively in LOVE with the sea and goes swimming as often as she can but resists from climbing back into her seal skin. Mia eats a considerable amount of sea food but has become accustom to other foods that have been introduced to her in her human form since leaving the sea. She enjoys dancing and community events. Plating hair and making beaded jewels.
Bio: Mia was a mere pup when her pod arrived at Sanctuaire Estrange.
A tragedy fell upon her pod as her older sisters became of a fruitful age. Always wanting to live in the neutral area they took to Living in an isolated area where snow fell near a village. When fish became scares thanks to fisherman the female selkies would go into the village to work part time and earn money to buy fish and bring it back to their families.
Unfortunately some of the men in the village took a fancy to the otherworldly daughters of the sea and through following them around in love struck secrecy they discovered they were selkies which to most was a myth. The girls had turned them down many times already promised in their later years to the sons of other selkies. The human males obviously not taking rejection and denial well sought to take the daughter's pelts the next time they ventured into the village.
By taking a female selkies pelt after she has shed it not only can you prevent them from returning to the sea- but also condemn them to being your bride. Unless the pelt is retrieved the female selkies are trapped.
Mia's father and many other fathers in the pod rose up in anger at the humans attempts when they saw the humans bonbarding the girls inorder to steal their pelts. In a fury fuelled dispute lives were lost on both sides. The pod fleed and eventually came upon Sanctuaire Estrange where they were kindly accepted into its peaceful environment.
Due to having grown up in the sanctuary Mia struggles to imagine the dangers her pod experienced but understands the importance of keeping her pelt close by now she is constantly in human form.

Opinion: Mia's instant instinct is to be weary and defensive- male humans are weak but feared by female selkies for their terrible habit of posession. She's uncertain of having a male human around all the time. As for the both of them on a whole Mia is uncontrollably curious to see what they're like after not having experienced humans for herself after being shielding here since being a pup.
