Who I Am
Full Name: Albert van der Kneer
Name Meaning: The van der Kneers in general have always been well-to-do, if not rich. Their name in the Netherlands is associated with high life and corporate wealth, having commandeered many successful companies and businesses. Albert is the heir to this business magnate.
Nicknames: Al. Sometimes called "van der Queer" by his cousin and others who aren't too fond of him
Age: 17
Birthday: August 30
Role: Vampire
Eye Color: His golden brown eyes have stayed but, like his hair, have brightened and now lean more towards the golden than the brown.
Race/Ethnicity: White. He is originally from Utrecht, Netherlands.
Distinguishing Marks: None in particular. Especially in light of his recent transformation.
Detailed Description: While his lankiness transferred over during his change, his skinny bones have gained some muscle, giving him a tight, sinewy build. Whatever baby fat he had left melted away, giving a more chiseled, sharp look. He is fairly tall, standing at about 6 foot, with long limbs and appendages,
particularly his fingers and toes. His skin is like alabaster, and completely smooth and flawless. Despite his sharp edges, his face is still soft, his eyes warm, if a bit watery, his nose thin and upturned, chin pointed, eyebrows always pressed upwards in worry, concern or fear. His hair is typically somewhat tousled, collecting in the middle of his forehead.
Clothing wise, he is used to dressing sharply, growing up in a world of suits and designer jackets. He still tries to keep up appearances, making do with what he can find in the "school" that has become his home. As of late, he has taken to turtlenecks, and layers a lot, as he always finds himself cold. He takes careful measures to make sure his shoes at least look spotless, and shines them daily. Never one to want to draw attention to himself, he typically dresses in grays, browns, and blacks.
Personality: Albert is and was always a worrywart. Even as a human he would fuss over this and that, whether it be his cousins or his grades or his parents or his friends, he was always worried about something going wrong. Yet that didn't necessarily make him a pessimist. Rather, he was always looking on the bright side of things, hoping it would turn out happily but always worrying that it wouldn't. He always stays optimistic for his friends as well, and despite his worrying he always strives to find at least one thing that will turn out well.
As a vampire, however, some things have change. While Albert still tries to keep himself happy and hopeful, it is a much harder task than before. One factor of this is his refusal to drink blood. Despite it being months since his initial changing, he still cannot bear the idea of drinking human blood, and has constantly refused it. This has had dire consequences though. For one, his transformation has been longer than most, and much more painful. Second, despite his rebellion, his physical thirst grows stronger and stronger with each day. He knows eventually he will succumb, but he dreads that day deeply, which puts a damper on his attempt at personal happiness. He has a nervous disposition almost all the time, and has a tendency to stutter when flustered.
To keep his mind off the bad, he often entertains himself with walks in the dusk or playing on church organs, feeding birds and reading, etc. He misses the sun, Summer having been his favorite season, but mostly he misses his home and family. The "school" of the Changed which he stays at is full of those who don't understand his desire to be human again, and he is often mocked and bullied for it. Yet, much as he hates to admit it, he is still a vampire and not to be meddled with. While not as strong as the other vampires (mainly because of his lack of blood) he still has enough strength to put up a decent fight. Yet Albert was never one for violent confrontations, and still isn't. He would rather talk about it than fight it out. What he lacks in fighting prowess he makes up for in observation. With keen eye, he notes the actions of others, trying to discern their motivations to better protect himself. While he was more of a social butterfly as a human, at the school and as a vampire he is a wallflower. He hears and sees more than others may think, and while he doesn't have malicious intents, he does keep the information stored for possible future use. Yet should anyone approach him in a non-threatening manner, he will happily take up conversation. Well-read, he can discuss many different topics, ranging from the history of Antwerp to the different recipes of cheesecake.

Detailed History: Albert was born the only child of Ilse and Dominic van der Kneer. Both of his parents were very wealthy, and Albert was lavished upon. Private tutors, a giant mansion, all the books he could desire, and travels to various countries across the world. Spoiled as he was, he still grew up sweet and kind, always understanding of others, yet he had no desire to inherit the family business. In fact, he had no real goals for his life, finding his living situation fine
just as it was. This bred some contempt among his extended family, who felt the business should go to someone else, and that even if Albert did want it he wasn't prepared for it or didn't have the right "stuff." It was these problems that would keep him up at night.
He was on a solo business trip to New York City when the Blood Moon hit. His transformation was slow. A fire of pain wracked his body for weeks as it took its effect. When he finally passed out, the transformation was complete and he woke up with the most intense craving for blood. Horrified, he managed to repress it, and wandered about the changed city until he finally happened upon the "School" for the Changed, where he has resided ever since.
