Nickname
"I won't answer to anything other than my name."
Despite his claims, Rio will answer to just about any name that his students call him, within reason. Usually, if they call him anything other than Mr. Cassat, he will give them a look, but it will soften into a slight smile and he won't think anything of it afterwards. His friends usually just call him Rio, however some of his teacher friends will bug him by calling him 'Squirt' or 'Youngster' because of his age and amount of experience.
Age
"Age is just a number, however I do think that I am wise far beyond my years."
Rio is 21, fresh out of college. He found a job remarkably quickly, and he loves what he does.
Gender
"I would think it'd be obvious.."
Cassat is fully male, he is also heterosexual.
However, occasionally he is mistaken for a female because of his long hair and young looking, soft features. He brushes off these remarks, however he does feel incredibly insulted by them.
Appearance
"Outwards appearance is unimportant, it is only the outer layer of someone. You find what is of true importance after you look a bit harder."
Rio isn't a bad looking young man. He still has a somewhat childish look to his face and physique, but his eyes shine with a surprising amount of wisdom and knowledge. His hair is somewhat long, and often times tied up on his head with his bangs hanging down in his face, it doesn't seem to bother him, though. The color is strange, it's a grayish color that almost appears blue in certain lighting. His eyes are almond shaped and blue with long, feminine lashes. He usually has a neutral look on his face, or a frown, but if a student comes to him, his face lights up, and he smiles a lot.
He usually dresses comfortably, even to work, so he usually stands out among the other teachers and he's often mistaken for a student. It isn't unusual to find Rio lounging in his office reading a book and wearing jeans and a t-shirt. However, he's careful to be comfortable without appearing to be a slob. His clothing is always neat and clean, and if there's a special occasion, he's not opposed to wear a nice suit. He likes to chaperone at proms, and when he does, he's usually wearing a suit or a tux, despite it not being required. He does like blending in with the students, it allows him to get to know them better so he can better help them if they have problems.
His office is set up mostly for comfort. When you walk in the door, you'll see his desk on the other side of the room. His seat is large and extremely well cushioned. You'll usually walk in on him reading a book with his feet (donning a pair of black high tops) on the desk, listening to music. When he spots you, he'd usually nonchalantly wave you in and have you sit down on the black couch in front of his desk that is almost as cusioned as his and draped over with various fuzzy blankets. He adores soft and comfy things, doing all he can to incorporate comfort and style into as much of his life as he can.
He is a bit of a clean freak, though, so it's not uncommon to find him pulling out a bottle of hand sanitizer from his pocket when he's walking down the halls or at various times when meeting with a student.

Occupation
"In all honesty, I wouldn't call what I do an 'occupation', I think of it more as an opportunity."
Guidance Counselor. He wanted to be an English teacher, however all of those jobs were taken, so he settled on Guidance, after the initial disappointment, he did grow to love the job.

Personality
Rio's personality depends on where he's at and who he's with. When he's on the job, working with a student, he usually tries not to show too much emotion, he listens intently with his face drawn and neutral. However, you might think that he doesn't seem to care when he's lounging in his office, listening to a student's problems, but he gives off this vibe and students can tell that he does care and that their problems do matter to him. Often times at school and when he's in his office, he appears serious and looks as if he is deep in thought, his eyes slightly narrowed and his mouth shut in a straight line. Often, people who are visiting the school see him and fear that he's a mean teacher, but other students will assure you that he is not.
Rio cares very much for his students, when he's not acting extremely serious. he's smiling and talking to other students. Many times, students feel that they can confide in him because of the way that he seems to understand them, since he's so young compared to most other students. He likes to have lunch with the students and participate in their lives, not only so he could understand them more for his job, but also because he likes to be around them. However, a lot of older people seem to be worried about the way he affiliates himself with the students because it seems to make him more likely to, perhaps, fall in love with a student. Rio doesn't buy it, though. He claims it's only experimental, although he also does it because it reminds him he's not that old, despite being a teacher.
History
Rio didn't have a hard, difficult past. Despite always being just a bit smarter than the other kids, he was never bullied. He could have been popular if he wanted to be, but he never saw the point. He was the 'middle class' of the school food chain, he wasn't made fun of like the nerds or 'untouchables', but he never allowed himself to be part of the 'in crowd'. He was simply there, never bothered by either side. He had his own friends, he'd occasionally talk to the popular people, occasionally talk to the unpopular people, but it seemed that he only did so to get information. He was always wondering, thinking, questioning.
Family wise, Rio never lacked. His parents were slightly rich, his mother was a stay at home mom, while his father was the CEO of a nice company. He was spoiled, but it never seemed to phase him like it did most people. He has a younger sister named Belem (Bay-leem), both Rio and Balem were conceived in Brazil thus the names, who, at the moment. lives with him and goes to the school where he teaches. His parents ended up moving to Brazil once Rio bought himself a nice apartment, leaving him with his sister, who is 16.
He did graduate from high school a year early, and quickly just floated through college and quickly got a job. He's protective over his sister, so he transferred her to his school so he could watch over her.
