Description

Image
Name: Emma Crawford
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Appearance: A pretty young thing, Emma was blessed with her waist length butter-blonde hair and pale blue, silvermist eyes. Her clothes are always lightweight, tight, and easy to move in, and maybe a little on the sexy side although that's not entirely intentional. A typical outfit for her would be a short black/white skirt or shorts, a red top, and maybe a white/black jacket if it's chilly out. She stands at 5'4 and weighs an average of 128 lbs. She keeps her body fit and lean...and of course well-toned. How else could she tote her babies around?

Public Standing: Task Force Bounty Hunter

History: Emma doesn't have a sob story. She wasn't beaten as a child, her entire family wasn't slaughtered by a gang of criminals, no, Emma had a pretty average childhood. But that was just it: average. She always wanted more. Although not brutally slain or anything of the sort, Emma's parents did die in a car crash when she was ten, leaving her and her one year old sister, Isabel, in the care of her city's orphanage. They were treated like any kids thrown together with a bunch of other lowly ‘street rats:’ low quality gruel as food, strict rules and limitations, and not enough attention to make one actually feel like a person. But, it was a roof over their heads, a place to sleep, and there were one or two kind women who tried to help out here and there. Every day was repetitive and normal.

Emma didn’t want repetitive and normal. She had always had an authority problem—it had even shown in her early years with her parents. She hated being told how to act, where to be, and when to be there, so she rebelled a lot. And then, as soon as she turned 17, she got her ass out of there, with her beloved little sister in tow of course. She made a life for them, barely scraping from job to job, working in a grocery store here, a restaurant there, but she always got fired, mostly due to her problems with authority figures. Finally, when she was about to give up and be forced onto the streets, she got offered a job as a mercenary. She was declared a natural in the field and she loved it. She didn’t have to answer to any direct authority figured, it paid well, and she got to have guns. Ohhh yes, the guns. All kinds of guns. She fell in love with the feeling they gave her, the thrill of pulling the trigger and hitting her target. Especially if it never even knew she was coming.

After a couple of years of downright mercenary work and a tough scrape with a target that not only landed her with a gunshot wound to the arm, but also right into the hands of the police, she decided to give it. Well, decided wasn’t the right word. Forced was more like it. She was given the choice: work for the police as a bounty hunter and bring in criminals, or prison for attempted murder and possession of illegal weaponry. Since prison obviously wasn’t an option, what with her sister being dependent on her and all. So she turned her back against the life of crime and, after being told what it paid, ‘happily’ pledged her life to the badges. And now, with the recent killings in the city, she has been promoted to the Predator Company. Oh well, as long as it pays the bills and she gets to shoot everything, she doesn’t care what the work is.

Personality: Emma, as formerly mentioned, has a serious problem with authority. She hates being told what to do, especially by people close to her age. This causes her to be very short-tempered, as she goes off like a bomb on anybody who tries to give her orders. It’s hard to get close to her, as she possesses a somewhat intimidating aura (the aura of a killer). Also, she doesn’t open up to just anybody, and it’s hard to tell what she’s thinking or feeling, other than when she’s angry. Once you get to know her though, she’s pretty level-headed. She doesn’t like arguments, as she sees them as pointless battles with words that really get you no where. She believes the only way to settle things is by playing ‘who has the biggest gun?’ or a friendly game of Russian Roulette. Speaking of guns, she really likes them and often affectionately refers to them as her babies. She is extremely trigger happy and is never found without some form of one on her person. If you ever get a gun to the face, don’t take it personally. Sometimes that’s just her way of greeting people.

She feels indifferent about Predator Company. It was kind of annoying to her, being thrown into it with people she doesn’t know and without a choice, but the pay was more stable than what she got for bounties. She actually hates cops more than anything (they are the most threatening form of authority, after all) but has to deal with them on a daily basis due to her special situation. She takes it with a grain of salt, though. For her precious babies (what she calls her guns) and for her dear sister. Her sister, Isabel, is her biggest weakness and the only person on Earth that she loves more than her sweet ‘Alice.’ She would do anything for her. Honestly, she has a huge soft spot for children in general (although her sister isn’t exactly a child anymore, but she might as well be in Emma’s mind) and wouldn’t ever take on a job involving anybody under 16.

Items: Cell phone, a card that says she’s a registered bounty hunter and part of Predator Company, at least one gun, mot likely her revolver, ammunition, and a concealed carry permit are all items found on her person every day.

Weapons: Her most legal and most carried weapon is a classic, 45 caliber Smith and Wesson from the early 1900s that she got dirt cheap at an old antiques shop because the guy was stupid and thought it didn’t work. Some say it takes forever to load a revolver, but those people have never seen Emma.

She keeps the rest of her guns either at home or in the fake bottom of the trunk of her crappy old Corolla:

A custom made AK47 that she won off a guy from Brazil in a poker game. This is her most favorite gun, as it was built to shoot pierce almost any metal and has her name and a carnation carved into the woodwork. She cleans it religiously and has nicknamed it Alice Karson so she can speak about it in code like it’s a person. It’s very illegal.

A military issue M-82, 50 Cal sniper.

A classic double barrel shotgun.

Skills/Abilities: Basic melee training, professional long-range and short-range gun training, amazing aim.

Extra stuff: She has perfect eyesight and knows how to cook really well.

So begins...

The blonde looked lazily at the man who now spoke to her and contemplated how trivial his question was. If he could tell she had an eye for accuracy--which of course, was obvious--she would of course be proficient with sniper rifles. She looked him over, noting his classic style of dress and the awkward way he was forcing conversation with her. It was amusing though. He at least had a sense of humor. And some taste. And he had to brave, because nobody else had the balls to strike a conversation with the 'gun girl,' certainly not one that could lead to longer that two minutes of direct contact. She could stand to talk to him for a while.

"Emma Crawford. Ex-bounty hunter. Scorpio, age 24, and six feet four inches tall. I like Italian food, long walks on the beach, and yes, I am single." She gave a sly grin, letting her sarcasm settle slowly. She could have some fun. She leaned against the wall next to her and spoke again. "To answer your other question, let's say you don't want to be on the other end of my scope. You seem to have a pretty good eye yourself, for noting talent when you see it." She thought about whether they should shake hands or not. It was the typical greeting of most, especially these official types, but she tried to avoid it herself. Eventualy she decided against it and steered towards a new topic.

"So, what landed you here, Detective? Is this you're 'big break' or did you screw up and get 'transferred?'" she asked casually.

"Wait What- Nevermind. Right, uh
I suppose the precinct figured I'd be better here, what with my work during those god-awful street wars a while back when I was but a simple beat cop, trying to protect his neighborhood from some hoodlums
"

He looked off to the side out the windows, trying to relax. He didn't want to accidentally shoot her any looks she'd find funny, yet at the same time, leaving himself open for her to shoot him if she felt her trigger finger getting itchy at any moment. But he momentarily believed that she might have perceived this as bravery, and if he was lucky, maybe, just maybe she would give him some amount of respect for his 'feat,' despite the young man having 'intruded' on her, and bringing up a conversation to try and calm her down or something like that. He relaxed his mind, and looked back around at the area, trying to ignore the gunshot that had went off previously, shocking a few in the immediate area and giving off a near-permanent warning not to 'fuck with the gun girl,' word spreading quickly among the Predator Company.

"I mean, it's nothing compared to the things I'll probably be seeing here, anyways: Fine young women who shoot at their co-workers, Real Life Rambo dudes, and of course, a recent string of homicide cases with little to no leads, almost creeping the damned hell out of the regular police themselves. I can see how we'd be great for another street war, or being the SWAT teams on 'roids, but do you guys have any investigative qualities? Just saying it'd help if you had someone on hand with that kind of training. Somebody you could count on and keep alive, while he dusts for prints
The guy who would totally pay you back if you kept the shooting in the office to a minimum. Because that would be amazing
"

He looked back at her, and cautiously, extended a hand slowly to shake.

"Ryan Hylen. Everybody's gonna need all the help they can get to face off with whatever nutcase is out there. Hell, what if this ends up being like Sylvester Stallone's Cobra? Maybe an entire army of serial killing weirdos who get off on decapitation and that kind of thing?
It'd sure be crazy, am I right?
right, right. Yeah, sorry I'm so wordy here, just trying to get more words out, less potential death..."

Emma listened to him babble on about the Street Wars, a potential partnership (subtly, mind you, but still hinting at it), and of course the murders that they were allegedly supposed to solve. She couldn’t help but let out a chuckle though at his last statement: “Trying to get out more words, less potential death,” he said. So he was ballsy. He knew what could happen to him if she even remotely felt threatened or annoyed. She tried to cover up the chuckle with a cough, and extended her hand forward to meet his.

“Myself, I’m not the ‘investigating’ type. More of the protector. I can be sneaky, don’t get me wrong, but I think the best way to find evidence is to tie up a suspect and point a gun or two in his face, maybe play a little Russian Roulette. It never fails. You wanna try it?” She grinned, but then internally frowned a little. This poor guy was probably already going off the deep end to talk to her. She didn’t want to scare away a potential friend already. “Just kidding,” she added with a light laugh.

“I don’t know much about these other guys, haven’t really talked to many people. They tend to avoid me
” she trailed off before continuing in her soft, almost monotone voice, “but I’ve heard a real smart kid joined. Amber? Markabre? Something like that. I heard his name a bit before, around the mercenary circle. And then of course there’s Rambo. I don’t know too much about the murders, either. Except that they’re brutal, almost seeming to be committed by nobody, and they sure freak out my sister.”

She stopped talking, realizing that she was rambling a bit too. “So the street wars, huh? I stayed out of them, myself. But then that makes you a real hero, doesn’t it, Mr. Hylen?”
