Personality: Kharne's obedience is to the death. He was raised to be the ultimate soldier with the motto of the blackguard "Only in Death does Duty end." He would never disobey orders as to do so is unfathomable to him. Everyone has a place in the world and his is to heed Lord Alatar's every order, to follow ever whim, that is his purpose. When on a mission, he is a cold, harsh, and almost robotic man his movements, thoughts, and soul dedicated to fulfilling Alatar's will.. but when not on missions, he is reading.. walking around the gardens and listening to the birds sing.
He enjoys the softer, lighter, and small things in life. He is not known to luxury as the blackguard live a spartan like lifestyle such as having little to nothing in the terms of personal items. Alatar does this to keep them loyal and above bribery. They are unaware of luxury, ignorant to it, and they believe they dont need it. Contentment is weakness... or so they were beaten until they believed.
One quirk he has is that he is a handsome man which forces him to wear his helm at almost all times. His body, however, unlike his face is littered with gruesome scars which makes him self-conscious.
Background: Kharne doesn't know what his real name is.. None of the Blackguard do. Like all his fellow Blackguard, he was an orphan. Alatar wished to have an elite core of warriors dedicated to him in mind, body, and soul, so he initiated the plan for the Blackguard. Alatar had his men scour the towns and villages for orphans and urchin boys between the ages of 5 to 7... getting them too young to remember their earlier lives. Alatar's men managed to gather over 238 children for the Blackguard... and so they were shipped off to a fort for training.
Kharne was 6 when he was sent to the fort. The first thing the trainers did was test their natural ability forcing them to run.. the rules for the run were simple. If you feel down, stopped, or dared to slow down until ordered to, you did not eat. Kharne faintly remembers running for hours, the hot sun baring down on them, the unbearable thirst, the horrible aching tear in the side of his ribs as each breath was shallower than the last.. harder, more painful than the last. Eventually like all the other children, he collapsed. The men had never ordered them to stop, and they never planned to. The men had actually taken bets on the kids to see who could run the longest, he remembers one of the soldiers who had bet on him came into his cell and beat him. He doesnt remember much only the amount of blood that the man left in the cell.. his blood was pooled. A useless rat.. he was called.
The next day, they were ordered to run again. They had not eaten in days.. they were barely given water.. but they ran for fear of what would happen. Kharne remembers well how hard it was to run. One of his eyes was swollen shut from the beatings the soldier gave him.. his body aching from bruises, one of his ribs that were fractured.. but he ran. It ended much as the previous day.. this would continue for a week, when all the children were starving. No pain can compare to starvation. Your body beginning to eat itself, the horrible aches, biting pain.. and the savagery it causes. The next day the soldiers came setting up a great table lined with food.. oh, how good it all looked.. how tempting.
Behind them they drug a giant line of POWs (prisoners of war) and they were given a simple order.. kill them and be fed.. oh how the children resisted at first.. but one day.. than two.. they turned into beast stabbing the prisoners with rocks, tearing at their with their nails, and they were fed. This is the kind of world Kharne was raised up in. To be the ultimate killer, to know only obedience and servitude.. Lord Alatar is their savor, and protector as long as he breathes, they will never suffer again. Out of the 238 children, only 123 would finish their training and become Blackguard. Kharne is their leader.. the Captain of the Blackgaurd.. oh how the path to success is littered in the blood of allies and enemies.. It took 14 years for the Blackguard to grow up and finish their training, 14 years of that same harsh training, of the harsh beatings, but out came the great and most elite of Alatar's army, and their leader Kharne is the greatest of the Blackgaurd.
Affiliation: Lord Alatar's Army. Kharne serves as the leader of the Blackguard, the elite bodyguards and elite fists of Alatar.
Appearance: Kharne, much to his embarrassment and ire, can be considered a handsome man. He has rare long red hair that flows past his shoulders. When geared for combat, he ties it in a ponytail and tucks it underneath his armor. He has thin features, including a long well formed nose and small thin lips. His jaw bones are thin and sharp giving him an aristocratic even regal appearance. He has piercing green eyes that are always watching for the slightest hint of treachery. He is a tall man, standing at 6'2, with a thin waist and broad shoulders. His hands are long fingered but calloused from years of swinging a blade.
While his face my be attractive, His body is home to numerous scars both from blades and whips. The training blackguards are forced through has scared his body with long jagged cuts that leave his body almost revolting to eyes. His back is covered in whip scars from his training.. the trainers would whip disobedience out of you, so his face my be handsome, his body is a horror which has always made him self-conscious about it.
Equipment: He is wearing Blackguard armor, a longsword, and a long red cloak.
The Blackguard Equipment: Blackguard are all armed with their iconic Blackguard armor, a longsword, black kiteshield with the insignia of Lord Alatar embolden on the shield, their red cloaks with Alatars insignia, and a halberd.
Armor: The armor of the Blackguard is a relic of its own. Lord Alatar spared no expense in their creation. They are not quite full-plate instead they are many separate plates such as shoulder guards, grieves, gauntlets, helm, and breastplate, while much like full-plate, the plates are not connected. Each are separated created so to give the joints more mobility. Underneath is a strong layer of chainmail. Their royal cloaks dyed blood red, the armor is dyed an abyssal black and rimmed in gold to set them apart as the cream of the crop, the elite of the force, the bodyguard and crushing right fist of Lord Alatar.
