Since he was a kid he has always had a knack for leading others and keeping things under control. Though before he was always leading others into bad situations and now its more so that he's leading others away from danger. He keeps his head when things start getting heated and he knows when to show a brave face and when to drop it. He is always observant of others reactions and makes it a personal task to keep those around him happy. He things of the birds as his family, and would protect them with his life... But that also means he keeps them at a distance as well. He believes he is the cause of problems when they happen and holds a lot of contempt for their situation.
Survivors guilt is one of many problems when it comes to his mind. He is a danger to himself, he knows but he tries to hide all of his guilt and keep up a strong attitude. He takes it to heart when his family gets injured and that only weighs him down worse. Theres no doubt that he thinks that he is responsible for everything bad that happens. He tries to lead as best as he can, taking into consideration the wishes of the others and tries to usually find a common ground when decisions are split.
Sometimes it seems like he is the thread that keeps them together and other times it feels as if he's expendable. Really his view of himself is pretty dim and he usually imagines that the others think of him in the same way. If it weren't for his Second-In-Command he probably would go crazy from the weight that's on his shoulders.
History:
{Early Life}
Cole used to be one of those kids who got into way too much trouble and was always giving his parents grief. He grew up in a financially stable home in a good neighborhood so naturally it was a scandal that the Anderson's son was such a trouble maker. In fact his first real criminal offense happened when he was just ten years old. Since he has always had a natural ability for leading he always had his best friends Decker, and Jackson with him. They had gone to a supermarket on errands for Decker's mom and ended up leaving in cuffs because Cole had convinced his friends to help him steal a bunch of candy. Honestly, he hadn't expected it to have such an impact as it did.
Eventually his petty crimes began to turn into fighting and he even had plans of robbing a liquor store with Decker. However his parents were quick to catch wind of that plan and they were furious and decided that they had to nip his rebellion problem in the bud before he did something even worse. So they sent him to boarding school. He had hated them for it...Until he met Andrea Wilson.
She was amazing, perfect even, and he couldn't stop himself from going after her. To be honest he didn't expect her to take him up on his offer of dating. He was the bad kid from out of state who had authority problems and she was...well, a lot more innocent than he expected of a teen girl. It took a lot of convincing but her parents even approved of their relationship, and they were together for a long time. She was his kryptonite, and always kept him in line.
{Post Illness}
They were both immune, and it was the greatest thing in the world. Despite everyone dying around them they could make it, they could survive...or so Cole thought. Andrea was a member of their group even, and had participated in their escape. But about a month after their escape she was caught by one of the seekers and in the resulting chaos she was shot dead. Of course, this wasn't the seekers intention since they were usually instructed to bring them in alive, but it didn't matter to Cole who went crazy about it and to this day still vows to kill the seeker who did that.
Now, he just tries to manage the group as best he can. Making the safest decisions and keeping them all safe. He has been with them so long that each of them have become like family to him, and he doesn't know what he would do if they were ever to die or leave him alone.
