Physical Description: Six foot exactly and extremely lean, Anselm makes an unimposing figure for a werewolf. This rarely guiles his enemies, as his reputation for ferocity and ruthlessness precedes him by a long way. He is strong beyong what his physical appearance would suggest.
Personality: Having grown up through Europe's darkest and most corrupt times, Anselm is racked with cynicism and a lack of belief in any common good. He believes that people of all races thrive in the face of adversity, and that the truce between supernaturals has deprived all of them of some of their glory and strength. He hides his cynicism under a veneer of self-deprecative humour, which to those who know him stands at a stark contrast to his pride and intolerance of anybody who seems to be a threat to his ideals.
History: Anselm was the illegitimate child of a Frankish bishop, and as a child was sent away with his mother to live in isolation. The shamed bishop made sure they were well looked after, in return for their silence as to the identity of the boy's father. To this his mother obliged, and Anselm grew up in a climate of lies and hypocrisy. As town and country life declined in the kingdom, and with the death of his estranged father, the settlement where Anselm and his mother lived quickly declined and was left almost derelict and unprotected. Anselm became the closest thing the town had to a leader, and gained the respect of the local people. The town was on the way to recovery and prosperity, when suddenly the people were beseiged by strange killings and attacks. It was during one of these that Anselm was reborn as a werewolf, and as he came to terms with his new nature he saw the opportunity to form a stronger community that had ever been possible as a human. Thus began the De Lacey dynasty.
