Description: Darren stands at around 5’9” with incredibly lanky body proportions, making him look taller than he really is. His skin is a cream color, indicative of sun exposure but not enough to tan. Though his eyes and eyebrows are both a dark brown, the hair on his head is a slightly lighter, sandier brunette, cut short, but long enough to style it with some hair-gel. When left to its own devices it becomes quite curly, giving him the appearance of someone much younger. Face free of facial hair or scarring, he seems not exactly delicate, but not rough like the typical fighter. Though rare, his smile is usually awkward, as he spends little effort demonstrating his emotions. If someone can actually get him to speak to them, they’d find his voice medium-pitched, warm, and oddly pleasing in comparison to the poison that’s probably being said. Basically, Darren is cute but unassuming, the complete opposite of his personality.
Personality: There are whispers about Darren Brooke having a death wish. He’s put himself in situations others would call pointlessly suicidal, but the truth is, and this is possibly his number one motivator in life: he’s bored. Darren constantly needs to be entertained, an adrenaline junkie to the highest degree, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to satisfy his addiction. He’s also very blunt, as he hates wasting time coming up with round-about ways to say the same thing. This often makes him come off as rude, though he can be very polite when he thinks he needs to be (though not nearly as he should be.) However, the people that do put up with him do so because of one reason: he’s utterly brilliant. He has a near-perfect memory, and as a result can store absurd amounts of information. He also knows just how smart he is, and though he doesn’t go out of his way to brag, he is highly judgmental of people he finds to be not worth his time.
Don’t let his apparent genius status fool you, however: the boy can fight. His fighting style is drastically different from most dhampirs, as instead of using muscle power and force to take down his opponent, he uses his expert understanding of anatomy combined with his agility to target key weak spots, using your own design flaws against you. Needless to say, he doesn’t have very many friends.
History: The only child of two highly-respected dhampirs, Darren spent very little time with his parents, as their job often kept them away. He was raised by his grandmother, one of the few dhampirs lucky enough to live to the age of retirement, who encouraged his young mind to grow. He spent hours upon hours reading, studying, learning, and was quite happy. When he was old enough he began attending St. Vlad’s academy, but was far more interested in learning things on his own than being taught by people he viewed as incompetent.
When Darren was 13, his grandmother died. It was then he began to realize how much she had truly shielded him from his parents expectations, which all came crashing down on him now. To his father, Darren was just sort of alien, and they began to constantly fight. When he would outsmart the man, that would only infuriate him more, and on breaks home from school Darren’s home was a violent one. On his last trip back the past summer, he was kicked out of the house, and was homeless up until school started again.
