Description: Lena is quite short for a fighter, standing only at around 5’3”, and her wiry muscles make her look relatively easy to take down. Though she cuts her maple-brown hair to just above her shoulders, she usually puts it up in the shortest ponytail she can manage, her fringe hanging down around her face. Her eyes are a dark brown with traces of gold, if one were to look carefully. As for her skin, she’s been lucky enough to keep her face relatively unblemished over the years, though she has the various battle scar here and there, and clear indication of being out in the sun frequently. Though not tan, she does have some rather interesting tan lines at times, revealing her original coloration to be quite pale indeed. When she smiles, small dimples appear on both cheeks, and her grin is often crooked, her left side rising higher than her right. In the curves department, she’s been woefully short-changed, giving her a rather slim and boyish figure, but overall she’s quite pretty when she’s all cleaned up.
Personality: If Helena’s friends were to describe her in one word, it would probably be ‘quirky’. She definitely enjoys walking on the weird side of life, and finds enjoyment in her own imagination. Oftentimes, she’ll see things and her brain will jump to the last place anyone would expect it to. She’s alright with that though; it keeps life interesting. If one were to randomly meet her, they’d probably have no idea of the sort of responsibility she has, or the rigorous training she’s undergone to be a proper Dhampir. She truly finds enjoyment in almost anything she does, and tends to be the optimistic voice in a sea of bitter ones. She is not, however, naïve. Unexpectedly quick-witted, Helena usually does a very good job of balancing a desire to see the brighter side of life with the need to trust almost no one in a violent, dark world.
Not to say she’s perfect. In fact, as a Dhampir, she’s been a disappointment to her family from the beginning. Though a loyal person, Helena is by nature a very gentle soul, and dislikes combat. Though over the years she’s come to see the necessity of it, she’s often found weak by her peers, unwilling to engage in confrontation if she can avoid it. It’s a shame really, as her skills are formidable in theory, but her lack of aggression so far leads to her downfall. She doesn’t really like to raise her voice either, so her opinions often go unheard. This doesn’t bother her so much, as she’s perfectly happy to live in her own little world, much to the chagrin of the people close to her. Though empathetic, she rarely makes connections with anyone, as they have just as much trouble understanding her as she does trying to explain herself to them. As a result, she appears uncomfortable in most social situations, though in truth she quite enjoys the company of others.
History: Helena was born to an incredibly diverse family. Her father was a highly disciplined guardian, while her mother was an artist at heart. She had two older brothers growing up, who when home from St. Vlad’s would tease and belittle her mercilessly for her strange outlook on the world. She hid from her parents’ strained marriage and bothersome siblings in books and nature, often taking walks in the forest near their home. When she was old enough to go to school, she quickly discovered her love of learning everything except combat, which she constantly struggled in up until the last two years. The change came after her mother’s death, forcing her to realize she couldn’t maintain her pacifism ideals if she wanted to survive. The black sheep of her family, she actually prefers it at school, though she doesn’t exactly have many friends there, either.
Misc: Helena is the kind of girl who will try anything once, sans substance abuse. She also goes through obsessive phases, switching from loving one thing to the next. She’s also learning the guitar, though that’s a secret and with little time to practice, she isn’t that good. Favorite song is Eet by Regina Spektor.
