2 days before the Emperor's arrival
Cal and Master Ruan were meditating in the courtyard of the temple as Nal'dar and Milo were purchasing Two Freerunners in the City. For an instant, all was peaceful, then Cal felt a darkness coat the inside of her throat, she began to choke. Ruan immediately went to her aid, "What is it!?" he yelled. Just as soon as the darkness appeared, it subsided... she began to cough and gasp for air, "The dark side...." Ruan gazed down at his pupil.
"It... it came out of nowhere!" Cal yelled, catching her breath.
"Something powerful must be at work..."
"Master, there is no time to dwell on this, whatever it was, it is gone, and no one is near..."
"Something just attacked you out of nowhere, that is cause for concern!"
"The emperor will be here in less than two days, we need to focus on that!"
The Autumn's Fury landed outside the temple. Cal and Ruan left the courtyard to meet Milo and Nal'dar.
"Two KAAC Freerunners have been stashed a couple kilometers from the city, just waiting for pilots!" Milo said, walking up a long hallway that served as the entrance to the temple.
"Good," Ruan said, "Now we just need to hire some mercenaries to pilot them..."
"But I thought we would use the Dantari?" Nal'dar said, walking past Milo.
"Now remember, the Dantari are primitive, we can teach them to use blasters in a day, but not how to pilot a Freerunner."
"Good point..." Cal said, looking down and crossing her arms.
"Come Cal, we can drop Milo off to acquire some mercenaries while we get the blasters." Ruan said beckoning them all to walk back to the ship.
"Yes master," they all replied.
They all got in the ship and took off.
Cal and Ruan dropped Milo off in the southern end of the city, close to the black market, then flew to the central area. Cal and Ruan left the ship, Nal'dar was meant to pick them up to collect the blasters, and walked all the way to the elevator pad without saying a word, until Cal said, "Master, do you really think we can take the city?"
Ruan laughed, "No, no I do not."
Cal was shocked at his blatant pessimism, "Master!?"
Ruan's yellow eyes locked with Cal's white empty ones, "Our mission is not to take the city, but to kill Vader, that we must accomplish."
"Master, that is your goal, not ours..."
"With Vader dead we can restore peace much more easily than with one damned city!" Ruan yelled.
"Master, calm yourself, someone on the other pads may hear..."
"My apologies Cal, we need to take the city, and kill Vader, weather we can accomplish either of these is unknown to me..." That marked the end of their conversation.
They left the port and walked along the streets, which much cleaner here in the central city than the outskirts. They walked for about 10 minutes before coming up to their destination, a BlasTech warehouse.
There was a large open area, three guards on the ground, and two up in towers manning Repeating Blasters. Their target was the main warehouse, which had one guard by the door. They were unsure how many more were in the adjacent warehouses and guard houses, but they had no time to collect information.
Ruan charged into the courtyard and drew his lightsaber, a single bladed purple one, Cal used the force to knock the two guards in towers onto the ground, knocking them out, then drew her own lightsabers. The three guards on the ground began to fire at Ruan, he deflected all their shots and made his way towards the warehouse door. Cal fired a bolt of electricity at one of the guards, knocking him out, then grabbed the other guard and threw him against a wall, knock him out. Ruan moved close to the last guard and cut off his hand.
"MASTER!" Cal yelled, "We said we wouldn't kill them! They aren't with the Empire!"
"They supply them, they might as well be licking Vader's boots!" he yelled, the guard screamed.
"They were forced into that contract damnit!"
Ruan ignored her and sliced off the man's head. We don't have time for this damnit! Thought Cal. Ruan opened the door to the warehouse with the force, then went in, Cal followed. There were no guards inside the warehouse, but there were a few droids.
"Cal, access the droid systems to load those onto the gravity lifts," Ruan said, pointing to a computer. Cal went ahead and did it while Ruan contacted Nal'dar to come and pick them up. The droids began putting large cases of E-11 blaster rifles into the gravity lift to go up to the docking port. A thermal detonator was thrown into the warehouse through the doorway, Cal quickly threw it back using the force, hoping no one was seriously hurt.
"Master!" she yelled, "Into the Gravity lift!"
Ruan dove into the lift, knowing it wouldn't be the most comfortable ride, Cal followed, deflecting a few blaster shots with her lightsabers along the way.
When they got to the docking area, the Autumn's Fury was already being loaded with the blasters by droids. Ruan ran up the loading ramp, Cal not far behind him. They waited another minute in the cargo bay, they closed the loading ramp once they collected as many blasters as they could.
"Go man the turret," Ruan said, pointing to the back of the ship. Cal nodded and headed off to the turret.
The ship took off, from the communicator Cal could hear Nal'dar, "We've got two T-47's on our tail, if we don't take 'em out fast they can contact the Empire, and this thing can't take out a Tie!"
The ship was flying low, very low, so as not to be detected by aerial detectors. The first T-47 wasn't too hard to take down, only a few well fired shots took it down, the other one however, followed them for quite awhile, it took out one of the engines before Cal shot it down, "Can we stay airborne without that engine?" Cal asked.
"Yeah we're fine, get up here quick, we need a plan to get Milo out of the city..." Nal'dar said.
Cal quickly went to the cockpit and went to the communications station.
"I've got a plan," she said, smiling.
"What is it?" Milo said over the communications system.
"We can't pick you up, I hope you didn't spend ALL that money..." Cal said.
"Ummm.... why?" Milo asked.
"Nal told me about an old 74-Z bike that you guys found, buy it and get back to the Temple once you've got all the mercenaries."
"No problem, always wanted a bike..."
"Problem solved!" Cal said, ending the transmission.
1 day before the Emperor's arrival
Cal was meditating in the Temple as Ruan, Nal'dar, and Milo were training their newly acquired allies, the Dantari, in how to use blasters.
The plan was simple, use the Autumn's Fury to bring Ruan, Cal, and Nal'dar into the capitol building, as well as a dozen Dantari. Then charged the city with the rest of their Dantari allies and the two Freerunners, and pray that Vader isn't on the battlefield.
The day of the Emperor's arrival
Cal, Ruan, and Nal'dar were in the Temple, as well as their dozen Dantari allies and a mercenary to fly the ship. Milo was with the 50,000 Dantari and the two Freerunners, ready to liberate the city on Ruan's command.
