"Just like that." Kaine said, guiding the girl's hands with his own. She giggled, and adjusted her posture accordingly. "Now steady your hands..." he said putting his hands on top of hers. She blushed. "And pull the trigger." she did so, firing the gun and hitting the target dead center.
"Wow!" she said. "You're really good at this..." He moved his hands down so that they were now wrapped around her waist.
The girl, Makayla, her name was, had come to him with a group of her friends yesterday to ask him for help with target practice, and, since it had worked out perfectly that they both only had classes in the morning, today they decided now would be the perfect time. He had a feeling she wanted more than just target practice though, and so far, he seemed to be right. So far, he was being fairly successful at playing it cool, but on the inside, he was freaking out. He hadn't been on a date with a girl in ages, much less one as...intimate as this.
"What do you say we go back to my place for a bite to eat?" he said, quoting a cool guy line he had heard so many times.
"Alright..." She said smiling coyly, and they went.
--------
"Smells good." she said, leaning over the divider. "You must be a great cook."
"Well, my roomate's so lazy, I kind of have to be." he said, laughing. He had paid his roomate off to not be there when they arrived, and it wasn't cheap.
"Alright." he said, pouring the pasta and sauce into two bowls. "It's ready."
"Oooh," she said with what what seemed like enthusiasm, though he could tell she was trying pretty hard. "I can't wait to try it."
He took both of the bowls in one hand hand, and headed over too the small table were she sat, a move that would lead to his ultimate downfall.
As he made his way over to the table, he stubbed his toe on a stool, who's leg just lay past the divider wall, and went tumbleing forward, launching both bowls of pasta through the air, and right into the girl's shirt. She stood up, furious.
"Ugh, All over my new shirt! That's it! I am so out of here! My friends and I though you are cute, but you're such a freaking
loser!" she yelled, storming out of the room.
"
There she goes." He thought rolling over onto his back and sighing. "
Along with any chance you had of actually getting a girlfriend. Way to go Kay."
Thoroughly depressed, he headed over to the library after he cleaned up the mess. He walked into the building, sat at his usual moping table, and decided to re-read one of his is favorite books, "
The Sunseter", a spiritual tale of a Shepard boy who leaves his flock behind to travel the lands, and eventually becomes an enlightened wiseman, with the power to speak to the gods themselves. He sat back, relaxed, and delved into the one thing that so often helped him forget his troubles.
