Fio has never been one of those people who seem content with whatever it is life hands to them, whether it be a poor slot or a lucky one. Rather, she is an ambitious individual who typically knows what it is she wants, and isn't afraid of working towards her goals. Coming from a very strong family background, she has always been encouraged to push herself to be the best that she can be, whatever field she chooses to pursue. Like most people, Fio likes the feeling of success, and unlike some people, she knows how to take the steps to get there. In many ways, the young woman is very goal-oriented because of this, working best when she has an idea of what it is she is trying to accomplish. And whatever it is she is seeking, the young woman isn't afraid of setting her sets high. She sets rather high expectations and goals for herself, believing this to be the best way for her to progress as a person. Unfortunately, while she is often honorable, ambition has occasionally prodded Fiona into using the unlevel playing field to her advantage. She'll defend against anyone who claims she did not work for her spot at the paper, but it is undeniable that her power was very useful in the progression of her career.

Of course, another trait she inherited from her family is the girl's directness. She isn't one for beating around the bush or playing games, instead preferring to be straightforward about what she wants. This mean that her writing is easily identifiable for its concise nature, in the context of articles, and that people can trust her to rarely feign ignorance about things. She is unapologetically forward, because she does not view it as a problem to know what one wants and go for it. Whether it be in the context of inviting someone to hook up with her, trying to get an interview for the paper, etc, she doesn't waste the time of others by dancing around the topic. She does have her own way of doing this, however --she is not always loud about things. If asked, she will give a straightforward answer, but people have often complained that she omitted something, only to meet a response of 'You didn't ask'.

Given her ambition and straightforward nature, it should come as no surprise that Fio is the sort of person who seems perfectly self-sufficient. She stopped living off of the money of her parents' as soon as possible, because she wanted to be able to support herself. She is reliable enough to get things done without requiring a person to stand over her shoulder, and sees no need to become dependent on relationships. She has them, of course, and has friends as well, but is often the girl who never seems to lean on others when she needs help. Of course, a willing ear to listen to any rant she may have is often welcome. She's more interested in listening to the rants of others, though. She went into writing and journalism because she spent her childhood wondering why things happened, how they happened, and what they would cause. The girl would label it curiosity, but one might just as easily call Fio nosy. She has a terrible habit of eavesdropping on people, and it is instinct for her to keep a person talking about things, even if the chance of her finding a story in their conversation is unlikely. She may seem more task-oriented at times, but Fio is in fact very much a people person; she loves to listen to people talk and hear their stories. And if something sparks her interest, she is prone to following the trail to the ends of the earth.

Whatever problem others might or might not have with her, Fio is comfortable in her own skin. She has the sort of self-assurance that isn't necessarily confidence, because it does not believe in inevitable success, but the knowledge that even mistakes can be learned from. She may have insecurities, but even these she accepts about herself as best she can. People who mock her are often met with a stare and a shrug, because she does not require the approval of others. Sure, she cares about what others think to some extent, she is still human after all, but Fio tries not to let it define her life. Anyway, a reporter who worries about what others think is already beginning to lose their best qualities as a writer, as far as she's concerned.

Image[ History ]
Fiona was very fortunate to have been a third generation supernatural. This means that her family had a history of powers before her birth, and she would not have to learn how to deal with her powers entirely by herself. Whereas many are forced to walk in the dark, she was given a flashlight, a railing to hold. Ariel Jordan was a Telepath, the daughter of a woman who could control the emotions of others and a man without powers. She worked in Annapolis as the owner of an ice cream parlor, meaning she had little to nothing to do with her power professionally. However, it meant she always knew what was going on, a mother from whom nothing could be kept. Fiona's father, Isaac, was also employed in a position that had very little to do with his powers. They lived in Annapolis because he was a professor at the US Naval Academy. Fiona grew up around naval officers to be, with their freshly pressed uniforms that seemed to contrast against youthful faces. Her life was a happy one, up until the point when the stories she wrote for her elementary school class suddenly came true. She would exaggerate those biographies children are often asked to write, only to come home and find that there really was a puppy sized elephant snoozing in her room. Her parents noticed this immediately, and it didn't take many more instances for them to realize that their daughter's ability was written vocifery. This was frightening, for she was young and the gift more powerful than would be suitable for someone her age. They managed to train her to be cautious, however, and she continued to be part of school, not drawing attention to herself when possible, etc. That is, until childish recklessness and impulse led her to write that the house of a classmate who had been teasing her relentlessly [she was by this point in fifth grade], was burning to the ground. By the next day, the entire family had been announced dead, having died in the fire, including the girl and her month old baby brother. Fiona was subsequently pulled out of school for three years, and her mother hired a manager to run the parlor while she stayed home to teach, and more importantly train, her daughter.

Fiona spent those two years both studying, at this point full developing her love for reading, and working with her mother to avoid messing things up. Up until that point she had dreamed of being a novelist, but her mother reluctantly made it clear that this was one ambition she could never pursue, for fear of messing with things she oughtn't. Isolation did succeed in making her very curious about other people, though. She developed that curiosity and nosiness which she has today, perhaps the subtlest thing she can manage given the directness inherited from her father. This, and a natural investigative streak which she had possessed since childhood, made her aspire to journalism. With a dream in mind, she convinced her mother to enroll her in school, just in time for freshmen year, so that she could learn with other students and eventually pursue her dreams. With the agreement that she would be cautious with her powers, Fiona was allowed to return to school. She quickly became editor of the school newspaper, perhaps because her predictions always managed to come true [her mother allowed this because it was more subtle]. She was the name that everyone knew but could not put to a face, the face masked with a book, or a camera, or something along those lines. At the end of high school, she was drawn to collegetown, and attended the university on scholarship for their journalism program. By this point, she had gotten a good grasp on her power, and could use it to benefit herself, while minimizing consequences. This, along with of course a legitimate competency in writing, is how she eventually became the managing editor in the collegetown newspaper.

Now, she can often be found in the office, hanging around in cafes or bars, etc. She always has a camera, a tape recorder, and a notepad w/ pen on her, though, because one never knows what might happen if only they keep an eye out for it [of course, she's not technically a journalist anymore, but it's just habit]. And perhaps, on a less publicized note, she keeps the paper and pen around in case she wants to write something into happening.
