While he may not be a prodigy, or someone blessed with intelligence beyond the capabilities of normal people, Jasper is undeniably intelligent. He is that kid who could never do the homework, but still top when it came time for exams. If asked, Jasper would simply respond that he was good at studying. And though he never actually studied before beginning university, this was true; he considers listening and absorbing knowledge the first time around to be studying in its first stages. Formulas and mathematics have always come rather easily to the young man, and he has a quick mind that pairs well with his rather sharp tongue. A keen eye and an analytic mind mean that he catches on to patterns quickly, which has benefited him greatly throughout his education.
However, like many very intelligent people, Jasper has never had a very impressive EQ, or Emotional Quotient. He is typically not very empathetic towards others, with the exception of those who are on his intellectual level, and throughout his youth often isolated himself from others. He had difficulty relating to other people, and found most social interactions unnecessarily taxing and a waste of this time. This is still the case, and it can be a struggle for people to pull him out to interact with others if that interaction does not involve alcohol. Given the choice, he'd prefer to stay home with a book or a movie, or perhaps hang out with a small group of likeminded individuals. Crowds just make him uncomfortable, and he has a terrible time talking to new people if he hasn't had a few rounds beforehand.
Perhaps part of the reason he doesn't get along with very many people, and they in turn don't get along with him, is that Jasper is a rather critical person. He is often picking at the flaws in others, seeing them instead of the good. Of course, some people do manage to gain approval despite his harsh judgments, but they are few and far between. Unfortunately for those he decides are idiots, annoying, or generally unlikable, he is more than willing to point out their flaws to them, as though most of them aren't already acutely aware of them. Jasper lacks sensitivity, and honestly rarely cares about hurting the feelings of others. After all, if his feelings aren't hurt by insults, why should they be so touchy? He has been slapped, insulted, and had drinks thrown on him before due to the lack of tolerance and understanding of social cues which causes him to be so rude.
Even when not intending offense, Jasper might hurt others. His sense of humor is naturally biting, and those without thick skin are unlikely to escape without a few scars from his harsh sarcasm. He does not mean to be insulting, of course, but at the same time has no sense of when he has gone too far. People, one might have gathered by now, are not really his expertise. And yet, he is a fiercely loyal individual who would gladly drop everything in order to help someone he cares about, should that be necessary. One might be able to figure out that he is trying to find a way to remove the power gene, or whatever causes supernatural abilities, but they are unlikely to realize that he is dedicating his life to it more for the sake of his sister than for himself. For someone who comes off as so stand offish, Jasper is surprisingly tender towards those who are important for him. One might even be inclined to use the word loving.

Jasper and Catherine Greene were born to Mary Greene, a Nurse at the UMBC Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, twenty years ago. Mary was a relatively normal woman who had caught a bad break when her boyfriend of two years ditched her very soon after finding out that she was pregnant. He hadn't been ready for the responsibility of children, and Mary had wanted to keep the child. The child turned out to be children, fraternal twins who were far more unique than their average birth would let on. For the early years of their life, Jasper and Catherine did not know other children, and were often consumed by their own little world. Even when they began to attend school, the two seemed to be in a bubble no one else could enter. At the age of eight, the two were bonded even further when both of them began to experience strange things. Jasper could see things before they happened by touching the person whom they were to happen to. At first, the visions were benign, but eventually they would leave him momentarily helpless, and hit him whether he wanted it or not. He began wearing gloves. Catherine's power, however, could not be dealt with by wearing gloves year-round and keeping distance from other people. Catherine was a living toxin, it seemed, capable of contaminating people with anything from the common cold to cancer, and she had no choice in the matter. When she realized this, the girl shrank back, terrified by herself. When the two finally confronted their mother about it, three years after the powers manifested, it was under grave circumstances. Catherine had accidentally caused her fifth grade teacher to develop a tumor in her brain, and not even Jasper could comfort her. It was almost ironic, that the daughter of a woman who had dedicated her life to healing others should be a bringer of disease and harm. Not sure what else to do, Mary set up a sort of quarantine within their house, pulling Catherine out of school and confining her to the basement apartment of their town home. Even Jasper was isolated from her, at Cat's request. This is when his resolve to get find away to get rid of the powers, which had brought such pain to both Jasper and Cat, once and for all. That is why he currently studies Molecular Biology.
