A few words that describe Max are witty, sarcastic, flirty and harsh. You'll hardly ever hear a kind word escape her lips as usually it's an insult or pitying remark. Due to her rather harsh past she sees herself as able to say whatever she wants because she never had that as a child. She's also sly and loves to pull pranks but rarely gets the chance. Max also loves to flirt. With her line of work she has to do it well. Any attractive being she sees Max will attempt to flirt although it's more to get the person on her side rather then sleep with them. She's had enough of that.

From the very beginning Max had a hard life. She was born Vanessa Graceland, only child of poor family. Her mother died in childbirth causing her father to become resentful towards her. Now she grew up in a small rat infested home with a father who hated her. Most nights he wouldn't look at her and she had to fend for herself. Yet some nights he came home drunk off his ass and if she uttered a single peep she'd be beat. This went on for years up until Max -then Vanessa- was sixteen. Her father was wasted and came home with another woman. The woman began to refuse his actions towards her and tried to get away and Damian in his drunken rage hit the woman with a beer bottle many times. By the time Max had rushed into the room the woman was dead. Angered by her father murdering this poor woman Max began to scream at her father who did nothing but clutch his head in pain. This went on for minutes and by the time Max had calmed down her father was dead on the floor. Fearing her actions Max left, only stopping to burn her home down and hoping the police would assume the poor woman's body was her own. It had worked because the next day word had spread that the Graceland's had died in an unfortunate fire. At that moment Vanessa Graceland was dead and Max Tompkins was born.
Her career began not three months later. She was looking for an odd job when a old man in his fifties came up to her. He said how beautiful she was and how much men would pay to be with her. Desperate and starving Max agreed and her new life started to pan out.
