Portrays the Hansel half of Hansel and Gretel
Asai is the near polar opposite of his sister in terms of personality. Where Azami is easily dominated and shy, Asai cares little of others opinions on him and openly declares his thoughts. Thats not to say that he doesn't care for peoples feelings however, as he does tend to look out for the basic joy of others. Asai has a very protective, go-hung attitude and loves the thrill of a fight or nature more than anything else. When seperated from his sister, he tends to withdrawal into himself and turn completely away from people, as well as losing his outspoken manner of speech.
A small nap sack he keeps attached to his waist. In it is a collection of bizzarlly colored stones he's amassed over the years and a small paring knife.
Azami and Asai were born to two loving, though impoverished, parents. They grew up with little to their name, and were forced to find happiness and contentment in the things that nature held. But when a particularly cruel winter hit, and their parents began to seriously doubt whether they'd be able to feed themselves, let alone their children as well, the two were led out into the middle of the forest near their house and abandoned. The two tried to follow the trail Asai had made from his leftover bread roll, but quickly found a swarm of birds had devoured their path. They quickly became lost. After a few days of wandering, the two ran into a house made completely out of candy, which, despite their disgust at the state it was in, they greedily ate. Only to end up getting knocked out and thrown into a dreary basement to await being eaten by a psychotic, hag like old woman. When it came time for the cursed woman to attempt to cook the twins however, Azami took seize of an opportunity and pushed the woman into the stove. The hag woman narrowly avoided falling in and instead only ended up unconscious from the stoves edge. Azami and Asai darted from the place soon after, running for as long as they could until they by luck managed to find the village. They were soon shipped off to the academy.
