Ardena Elynglas is a young girl of royal descent. Taken from her parents at the age of only two (during the Paleglade uprising), she was raised with thieves and bandits in the forest of Eldermere. By her eighth birthday she knew how to handle a sword and was skilled in archery. As an adventurous now fourteen year old girl, she spends many evenings running and hunting through the forest with her best friend Wyl. She had always had a love for witchcraft, especially herbs and astronomy. Many nights were spent with her just sitting out under the stars charting the night sky.Other nights assisting the camp's healer whome she lived with, in making antidotes and remedies by mixing concoctions of different woodland plants that she would run and find at dawn. Ardena found it was the best time to search. As the dew upon the leaves in the light of a late moon or an early rising sun added some magic to how everything looked. Certain plants are easier to come by then aswell, as the ground has not yet been walked on and everything is fresh.
Ardena never knew anything of her past or her parents, and never took it upon herself to ask too many questions. When she was about six years old, her and the other children of Eldermere would go out of the camp to the ruins of Calmared (Kal-Mar-Ed) castle to learn the history of the old kingdom. Once she asked the old healer, who was the guide on these trips, if she had ever seen Calmared before the uprising. The woman just nodded and told her that it had been a beautiful place, and that the royal family were the best rulers the kingdom had seen in centuries. Then told her that it was best not to mention the family or the old kingom within earshot of the camp, not unless she wanted to get herself into trouble. The trips halted shortly after that. Ardena thought no more about it. She didn't know why something like that would get her in trouble, but she decided not to question the healer's words, and she never brought the old kingdom up again outside of lessons.
