"In War, Victory. In Peace, Vigilance. In Death, Sacrifice."
Kale has had the villages motto drilled into his head since he could learn to walk. He is diligent and dedicated to his family, friends, and the village as a whole. He is good natured and can be seen helping others with their chores in his free time. Though men have very little free time in his village. The camp is large and formidable much like the men and women that dwell inside. They have a spartan mentality which strictly forces all to be in their best condition and be trained regularly (Men, women and children practice daily though the length of time differs.)
Kale does not aim to impress others since all act for the good of the village, every act is meaningful.
Kale carries a hunting knife and sharpening kit.
Kale also carries a self made spear
Bow and 20 arrows.
He also carries a small compass that is given to advanced scouts
Unlike other villages that simply watch out zombies. Kale's village goes out and seeks them not only to expand their safety but as a right of passage for the men. Women are treasured due to their ability to give birth and though some have gone through the right of passage most have believed that the risk is not worth it.
Kale has gone out on many expeditions and returned and honored for protecting the village and its people. Nobody knows how longs it has been since a zombie has even been seen from the village. Kale is proud of his father and his achievements and has been out so he could have the same. Kale was given the honor of being an advanced scout going out further than others and seeing if their were survivors or other camps.
It was when he was coming back from one of his further expeditions that the smell of smoke filled his nostril and it only got stronger as he got closer. He heard screams of the women and he saw the cause. There were men, not zombies but real men and they were all dressed identically. It was a cult. Kale had dispatched many wanderers before with one of their hunting parties. They had even successfully defended their camp and followed by wiping out the cults village in retaliation.
Kale took out his arrows and began to launch them one after another. After years and countless hours his arrows struck home killing many on their first hit. It was only when they took hostages of the women. Each woman silenced themselves as they each stuck their chests out. One arrow after another he struck the women's hearts. The cultists ran and died.
After surveying the area he found zombies. He knew instantly that these sick bastards had brought the zombies in as shields and weapons. Kale didn't find a single survivor knew not who was still alive. He fashioned a bag out of cloth and sewed it up as he collected what little edible food had not been spoiled or burned. He walked on with his father's machete, his own hunting knife, bow and arrows, spear and compass. He pointed it in the direction the cultists tried to flee to.
