Name: Mei-Lin "Mei" Li
Age: 16
Home Town/City: Shanghai, China
Position: Dancing genius.

Personality:
Before: Though quite the brat as a toddler, entering her six year old age, Mei-Lin has been a rather carefree individual. The go-with-the-flow type, she's probably the one you'll find doing her own playful, creative little thing, accompanied by an equally chiming laughter. For most parts, she's, bright, inquisitive, optimistic and spirited, if not a bit feisty and snappish at times. With a determination incomparable, many find it hard to say no after some positive (and 'You'll be an idiot if you don't) convincing. She's not afraid to speak her mind, or shout out her opinion, whether it would get her in trouble or not. With a little charm and a cool demeanor, Mei could escape most situations with ease. Most.

After: Calm and level-headed, Mei-Lin has a cool demeanor that is hard to be broken. She's accustomed to a harsh and straightforward nature, extremely blunt and usually taking part in one side or another. Her opinions are always stated as she desires and it will be publicized fearless. Comments, insults, side remarks, everything. She'll be a bitch if that's how she feels you're to be treated, finding every possible way to make you feel unwelcome. However, this does not limit to her kindness. Positive feedback is equally parred with the amount of criticism she gives, and if you're lucky, you might even catch a rare compliment. Cherish it. You just might never hear another until the next month. Mysterious, stubborn, and definitely not her old bright self, the only she still keeps is her carefree, laid-back nature. Yet, even that doesn't seem right.

History of Past Relationship: She met her first boyfriend at the Beijing Dance Academy, actually. Mei was handling as many genres as possible, and she met him, Zhang Kai-Long when the two were assigned as dance partners for the partnership genres. After one year of dancing together, the two were considered the best, the ones with the most chemistry. After three years of partnership and close friendship, the more mature genres such as salsa and tango become available and mandatory to partnering dancers. During one specific class where Mei and Kai were learning the choreography to a rather spicy routine, one thing lead to the next. Close faces, and close bodies. After practice, the two grabbed a dressing room and vented all of their cooped up passion for the next subject. One day later they were made official and was just another one of the many couples at the academy made from intense dance partners.

They lasted ten months before things began to fall apart.

When Mei decided that she wouldn't continue the salsa course, and Kai wasn't a fan of tango, the only class they spent with each other was ballroom. Eventually Kai lost interest when there wasn't as much activity going on between the two, but after seeing the way Mei could move her body for ten months, didn't leave her. Mei on the other hand still loved Kai nonetheless. Poor girl was oblivious to the fact that Kai only stayed with her for the lusty kisses. One day, right before the school year was about to end, the physical abuse showed for the first and last time. Kai was going to Europe to continue his dancing and decided to leave his mark on Mei. During the evening when all the students were at the mess hall eating, he forcefully grabbed her to his dorm room, locking the door, Kai attempted rape. Mei's struggle and protest had bought enough time for Kai's roommate to finish dinner and use his own keys to prevent it happening, but Mei was still scarred. She left immediately, out of the country, and away from Kai.

History: Born on December 11, Mei took her first breath on a cold winter day in Shanghai. Her parents, both purely Chinese, were absolutely delighted with their first daughter after many desperate tries at a child. Mei basked in attention as she was the only child of the couple, and was spoiled senseless as her parents cherished her to extreme measures. She was raised with everything she wanted given, bought, and performed to her whim. She had a sharp eye for her young age and would kick, scream, and cry over every small detail out of place. Sometimes she would even whine out of plain boredom and her parents didnā€™t dare to scold. At the age of three, however, the unacceptable habit abruptly stopped. Her grandmother requested that she be enrolled into a traditional Chinese dance class to ā€˜trample over her horrible attitudeā€™ and ease it with a peaceful, feminine hobby. Though predicted a simple class of movement would not cease Meiā€™s naughty behavior, her mother brought the whining toddler girl and left her for the teacher to babysit for the next hour and a half.

Ninety minutes later, Mama Li brought home an awfully quiet Mei.

Eight minutes afterā€™, Meiā€™s eyes were glazed over and asked if she could attend another lesson.

Seven days passing and sheā€™s gone to all seven lessons available during the weekā€™s duration. She even attended the class of 6-11 year old and according to the teacher, was so gifted that she fitted right in skill-wise.

Six years later, her grandmother passed away.

Mei just turned four a few weeks ago and is a dedicated student under her dance teacher, Mrs. Deng. Her demeanor over the nine years has changed drastically. A calmer, less greedy and passionate Mei has engulfed her previous self ever since she started dancing. Ten years old and six years of dance. Itā€™s been six years until sheā€™s discovered why she began dance anyway. It wasnā€™t her own toddler interest, but a reason which boosted her inspiration of dance. Right before her grandmotherā€™s funeral, she found out her grandmother was the reason why she does what she does. She didnā€™t find her own passion, her grandmother did. She was thankful and appreciated her grandmotherā€™s simple suggestion. Taking it as motivation to continue, she removed herself from traditional dancing and broadened her dancing horizons. Training hard and entering a competition, she won a scholarship to a dancing academy in Beijing. She studied there for four years until an incident occurred. Her parents moved her to Kyoto where a school offering a nice extracurricular dance program. She met Akemi and Illia there, and living on her own at the moment, sheā€™s all open to head for Tokyo.

Talent: Mei's talents fall under only one category: dance. Born naturally flexible and lithe, her body can groove to any music and almost every main genre. Ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop/breakdance, tap, contemporary, she practices them all six days a week, as many hours a day, and with a little determination, masters them one by one. A creative mind assists with any improvisation necessity, and her grace and fluidity is absolutely sensational.
