Powers:
Weather manipulation; Millie can sense, control and create weather patterns.

On any given day she can sense what the weather is and will be (within two days) at any given place, she doesn’t have to go out of her way to sense it or use any energy, but it’s more like she just unconsciously knows it. When she knows the weather patterns for an area she can change it, making it rain or snow or any kind of weather she feels like.

Without changing the external weather, in concentrated areas, like a room, she can create her own weather. She can manipulate air and air currents to create powerful gust of winds, tornados/hurricanes, and other forms of wind storms. Millie can control clouds, which as well as allowing her to create fun patterns in the sky, allows her to create fog, if she wishes heavily enough to conceal everything around her. She can manipulate electricity in the form of creating lightning, and directing the lightning at particular targets. She can also manipulate water in all its forms, she can make it rain, snow, hail and can combine these with wind to create hail storms or blizzards.

Millie can also generate subzero rain, though at the moment it’s not something she’s very good at, it drains her really fast and she can only do it in real small areas. Subzero rain is similar to hail, but when falling is liquid and then turns to ice when it makes contact with anything, it is best used to coat areas in thick and solid layers of ice.

Weakness:
Millie cannot endlessly use her abilities, and if she overuses them she is prone to fainting, and sleeping for days. The larger the area of weather she is manipulating the less powerful the weather is, for instance making it sunny over a whole country would take the same energy as generating a powerful blizzard over her town. The more natural the weather she is generating the easier it is, for instance in would take little effort to create fog on an overcast day, but a lot of effort on a sunny day with not a cloud in the sky. Using two abilities at once means she gets drained twice as fast.
Millie is also not immune to weather, so for instance when she generates rain, she gets wet along with everyone else, and it’s the same for all the weather she generates.
Her abilities are while powerful, are very hard to control, and after generating a weather she can only choose when to stop it, and so it effects everyone equally with her being able to specifically target anyone. The only thing she’s been able to teach herself how to control is lightning, she can direct them at people, though only small bolts of lightning, like touching an electric fence. Her generated weather also is prone to getting out of hand, seeming as she cannot control it well, and often times her powers end up damaging things and people as well as sucking up all her energy.

Strengths:
Millie has a really good ear for music and is an avid guitar player. She has been playing since she was 7 and will practice for hours on end, not to get better but because she enjoys it, hence she is pretty good at it.

Millie is great at finding things, don’t ask how but it’s like she has a locator for things, and if anything is lost she’s generally the one to find it. Sometimes she isn’t even looking for it.

Flaws:
Millie is a horrible cook, she has literally burned or destroyed everything she has ever tried to cook, her family hardly even let her into the kitchen anymore. Millie is not very brave, she doesn’t get scared real easy but when she is scared of something she refuses to go near it or do the activity.

She is also terrible at telling jokes, she usually misses the punch line or gets it wrong. Though she doesn’t quite realise it as all her friends tend to laugh at the delivery making her feel like she is hilarious. She’s also terrible at comforting sad people, it usually ends in a few awkward comment and then she’ll do or say something completely inappropriate.
Millie also isn’t very good at school, she is currently scraping by with barely a pass. She tends can do things for hours on end if she enjoys them, and well school and study do not come under the category of things she likes.

Personality:
Millie lives in the here and now. She neither hangs on to the past, nor plans for the future, rather choosing options that have immediate gratification or effects. She lives in the moment because she realises that’s really the only things she has that has real meaning. She takes each day as it comes, not wanting to live a life full of rules and expectations. Millie refuses to feel tied down, she loves living each day her own way with no obligations. Though this tend to make her a bit of a rule breaker, whether these rules being the school rules or less authoritarian rules of social conduct.

Her life is very much centred on herself, not that she is selfish but rather introverted, her thoughts and beliefs tend to be focused inwardly. She creates and develops her own beliefs and code of conduct, and will stay true to it, even though it is always changing and she grows and learns new things. Though her own ethics and beliefs don’t necessary match up the majority of people. She isn’t boastful and when asked quite outwardly modest, but she is in inwardly confident and self-assured. She is happy with her life and feels as if there is nothing that needs to be changed. She is confident in her place in the world and has happily carved out her own niche. Millie tries to live her life believing anything is possible, removing all form of doubt from her thinking, it isn’t like she believes in miracle, but she believes in herself and that is almost as good. She is also quite an optimist, she isn’t against being who are pessimist, and doesn’t believe other should always look for positives, but rather it is a value that she holds herself to.

Socially, Millie is a bit of a loose cannon, one day she can shower a new acquaintance with compliments and be completely sweet and courteous, yet on another day she be aloof and detached. She would never go out her way to be mean or upset someone, but she will not change her mannerisms or mask her feelings or thoughts for another person. She a little weird and refuses to conform just to make other feel comfortable, she is what she is, take it or leave it. Though if she tries she finds it easy to bond with people, and can easily highlight what they have in common rather than the differences they share.

Millie is a kind and compassionate friend and tends to make friends from all walks of life, she is not superficial and will love people for who they are. Though she will never go out of way to make a new friend. If she gets along with someone and they fit into her pace and daily life, then fine whatever, they’ll be friends, but she won’t steer away from how she wants to spend her day to hang out with a friend. And if a friend of hers grows distance and perhaps she doesn’t see them anymore, all her friends now not to trust her to try and bridge the friendship. She honestly doesn’t mind time spent alone. While she has a strong personality, she lives without the desire to lead or follow someone else, rather she feels most alive when she is left alone to dream and create.

Millie doesn’t necessarily distrust people, but rather she only trusts what she learns from her own experiences. She is quick to doubt something she is told and prefers to get out there and make her own mistakes and ‘feel’ her way through things with someone trying to tell her what to do. She also learns new skills and abilities through hands-on experience, and she knows this how she learns best which leads to her willingness to experience new things. Millie will investigate anything that piques her interest in her hearts content, she believes it a tragedy to leave any stone unturned. She almost always has to be moving and is happy to get on a road that seems interesting no matter if she doesn’t know where it may lead. Though her constant growth through experience leads her to frequently change her mind, her first reaction is rarely her final verdict. She is always making changing her views, beliefs, path and thoughts, she sees change an integral part of life.

History:
Millie was raised in a typical Benjamin family. Her father could control wind and her mother could control water and they grew up together and then eventually got married and had four girls. The eldest daughter, who at 8 years old manifested the ability to control wind following in her father’s footsteps. Next they had Millie and then twin girls. Millie’s youngest sisters both developed the ability to control water at 8, yet, Millie, 10 years old at this point was still yet to show any sign of developing a power. For a few years, Millie would watch her father teach her older sister about controlling wind, and her mother her younger sisters about controlling water. Both her parents had begun showing their abilities at 8 and so by Millie’s 14th birthday, her family held little hope of her ever gaining powers, and neither did Millie.

Her 14th birthday had been outside, it was a perfect and sunny day with zero chance of rain, and Millie had spent the whole day in a bad mood. She had told herself for months that she would get powers on her thirteenth birthday, she was certain that she’d just wake up with them. Alas though that day Millie had woken up still powerless, she couldn’t control wind of water. She was miserable looking ahead at a life being the outsider of everything, never taking part or understand anything to do with abilities. Then right there in the middle of the day, the sky turned from perfectly sun to dark, and it just suddenly began pouring down with rain. That was the first time Millie’s powers showed themselves. She had gained both her parents powers of wind and water, as well as some new ones. Though while her abilities were more powerful than her sisters this is counteracted by her lack of control over them.

Because of her past, Millie knows exactly what having no powers and being an outsider feels like so she truly treasures and values her powers, never taking them for granted. She is also always practising, always improving and creating new tactics with her powers, not because she really aims to improve but it is something she enjoys doing. She loves her abilities, and sees them as an integral part of who she is. It is this reason that despite being one of the last people to develop powers, she was able to climb the hierarchy quite easily and rapidly, and is now no. 5.

Benjamin
Mid-afternoon, Friday 16th of August

Image

A light breeze rolls off the lake beside the town of Benjamin, offering a small break from the hot sun above. For those students stuck inside, the have only a few more minutes until the bell rings marking the end of the school day and the start of the weekend.
Students also find themselves looking forward to the weekly meeting. The After School Club is due for a gathering. A few hours after school most students will make some excuse to their parents and make their way to the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. There challanges will be made, some will wake away as winners and others might find themselves further down the social ladder than when they entered the warehouse.

Abigail Porter

Abigail Porter sat in class, her attention on the small, balding man that was trying to lecture the room full of students on the properties of the fundamental forces. He had already given the class a stirring introduction to electromagnetism and no doubt next week would be filled with strong and weak nuclear forces. Today, however, was dedicated completely to gravitation, a force that Abby knew intimately well. Physics had always been an interesting class, or at least Abby thought so. Many of Benjamin's inhabitants had powers that let them defy the very rules that Physics was trying to teach. Abigail always enjoyed seeing the teacher try to explain around the peculiar abilities, making exemptions for the talents. Nevertheless Abby always made a point of learning the lessons, failure was hardly something she wanted.

Even so, as the teacher droned on Abby found her mind wondering to tonight's gathering. She was quite content with her current position, number two, so she doubted that she would challenge Ozzy tonight, but it was always interesting watching other fights. Whenever anyone from the Elite's was challenged it was always useful to pay attention, watching how her fellow Elite's fought was very informative and would help Abby form a partial plan on how to deal with them if they ever chose to fight.

The loud buzzing of the school bell brought Abby's attention back to the present. The teacher began to shout the weekend's assignments over the loud sound of scrapping chairs, but gave it up as hopeless as conversations cropped up and his voice was muffled out. Abby picked up her books, arranging them carefully in her arms. She left the classroom with the crowd and began to make her way towards her locker.

Being an Elite had its perks. Many of the lower students moved out of her way, leaving Abby with a clear path through the crowded school corridors. Of course there were always those who either chose to ignore the hierarchy or simply didn't seem smart enough to get out of her way. Abby was climbing down a set of stairs when a younger students pushed past her, his elbow catching her painfully on the upper arm and sending her books flying. Pursing her lips to stop herself from shouting at the younger student Abby held up a hand, palm facing vertically outwards. Her falling books stopped their descent, freezing in midair. The student froze too, caught in a bubble of zero gravity. His excitement for the weekend, and most likely tonight's meeting, was easily visible and quickly turned to a look of shock as he was slowly spun around to face Abigail.
"If you're going to run in the corridors, you had better watch where you're going." Abby told him. She held out her arms and let her books float into them. The student was still floating inches above the floor in Abby's cloud of zero gravity.
"I... I'm s..sorry" He stuttered, glancing nervously from Abby to the ground just out of reach. Not wanting to cause more of a scene than she already had, Abby let the boy go. He landed on his feet and seemed to shrink back against the wall as Abby passed.

She reached her locker a moment later without incident and quickly opened it, placing the books she didn't need inside and taking out those she would need over the weekend. Around her everyone seemed to be buzzing about the weekend. Abby smiled, she too was looking forward to a few days to relax in the sun, but first came tonight.

Zack Hooke

"Keep your knees up Hooke! Stay awake!" The harsh voice of Benjamin's gym teacher was having little effect on the teenage boy. Zack liked most sports, however gym class was not something he generally enjoyed. Or at least not when he was being forced to run around the track under the heat of Benjamin's summer sun. He could also feel the increasing anger radiating from the large gym teacher as Zack slowly jogged the last leg of the track. He didn't understand why he was the one being targeted, after all there were others who were still behind him.
"Come on Hooke! Don't fall behind!" She shouted again. Zack felt himself slowing down, if only to spite the teacher. He could feel her anger increase exponentially as his pace slowed.
"Come on miss, it's almost the weekend." Zack told her, "And it's too hot to run any faster." He had to admit that the teacher was exceptionally good at controlling her anger. He could feel it spike as he spoke and yet there was no visible sign present.
"Hooke..." Her warning was enough though to let Zack know that it was probably time to lay off. He flashed her a cheeky smile before picking up the pace. Apparently satisfied she went to go harass some other poor student, leaving Zack alone to finish his run and then head for the showers.

Zack quickly entered the male locker room and Zack grabbed a towel before headed into the showers. Ten minutes later he reappeared, smelling faintly of peaches and looking as fresh as if he hadn't just been running. The bell rang just as he was stuffing his damp towel away. Zack picked up his sports bag and made his way out of the showers. He considered stopping by his locker to pick up some books but decided against it. Instead he headed out to the school front where he took a seat on the rails and waited for his friends to come out.

He would see them tonight at the Club, but Zack was a social person. He wouldn't want to waste the few hours between now and the start of the club alone. Sure, he could do some homework, but he'd rather hang out with his friends. Besides, there weren't many days left in summer and he didn't plan on wasting the fine weather.

Millie hated English. She hated it because she found it tedious, boring and unnecessary. Though being honest that was how she felt about most her classes, and well, she hated most her subjects, not just english. This also meant she wasn't very good at English, which is probably why she was now getting lectured about her apparently atrocious use of grammar. She just listened politely as he talked, and then when the teacher left to go lecture another student she just shrugged it off and continued drawing on the bottom of her sheet. Considering she was yet to read the book that the creative response was supposed to be written on, Millie thought that her english weren't the main problem. Besides her mind was already focused on the weekend.

The moment the bell sounded signaling the end of the day, Millie was the first one to shove her stuff in her bag and rush out, ignoring anything her teacher may have been saying or doing. The After School Club was on tonight which Millie was looking forward to, she loved being able to test her powers out and use them creatively. Though Millie has never challenged anyone within the elites as she is happy with her position, she always seems to get challenged. Being the weakest of the elites, people tended to think of her as an easy way into the elites. She always proved them wrong though, Mille may not have been the strongest by she was a far cry from weak.

As she moved through the corridors towards what she viewed as her freedom from the strict rules of school, she moved with a slight skip in her step and a light smile lighting up her face. However that was not the reason anyone in the corridors would have noticed her. her abilities were sometimes a little hard to control and so her mood had cause a small gust of wind to blow through the corridors. Not enough wind to really effect or cause any real irritation to anyone, but if the occasional person would notice it since they were after all inside. Millie however paid no mind to the wind as she tucked her hair behind her ears and continued through the corridor.

Millie went to her locker, choosing to take home only the bare minimum, one note book and her smallest textbook. Carrying heavy weights was not her speciality, in fact her family always joke that she has the strength of a newborn that can't even lift it's head. Besides Millie saw no point in bringing home many books considering she wasn't actually planning on doing any of the homework the she had been set. She'd deal with the consequences of not doing her homework on monday.

Swinging her light bag over her shoulder Millie headed out of the school, she hated being indoors for long periods of time, and so she wasn't in any hurry to stay indoors. She didn't even need to look out a window to know what the weather was, plenty sunshine with a light breeze. She could just sense it which was a nifty part of powers, or at last she'd never get caught on the rain without an umbrella.

MIllie smile grew broader when she saw Sebastian and Zack together out the fron to the school, and she all but ran over to them. She let the gust of wind get a little larger as it engulfed to two guys ruffling their hair and clothes slightly in order to give her entrance a bit of impact. Though after a split second she stopped the wind completely, not wanting to annoy either of them. "Hey guys," She greeted them cheerily. Millie had caught then end of Sebastian's question and looked over at Zack expectantly. "Yeah Zack, cause you know I'll take you on," she added on jokingly hoping slightly that he didn't want to challenge her.

She had no issue with fighting friends at the club, she lived by the mentality of whatever happens in a fight stays in the fight. However her issue was with people like Zack who had powers to control one's mind and emotions. She didn't mind the people themselves, but dislikes the idea of someone having that kind of control over her. Looking over at Sebastian she smiled lightly, "And how about you Seb, any challenges you are planning on making?"

Milo Pomales isn't really a huge History person- that's probably why he has never even considered taking the advanced track in the subject. Not to say that he ever really has considered any of the advanced tracks, to be honest. History class, though, is at the bottom of the list as far as any sort of favorites may go, no questions ask. Really, it's a wonder that the young man hasn't fallen asleep in class most days. The only thing keeping him up his his determination to keep up decent grades- he has to set a good example for his sisters, as his mother has lectured him about several times before. Thus, he does his best to get Bs, even in the classes that he doesn't give a flying flapjack about. Luckily, half of the grade in this particular class is participation- that much, the extroverted young man can do, at least. Jumping into discussions is easy for him- he kind of feels bad for the shyer kids in the back of the class, the ones who ace the tests but are too anxious to join debates, and therefore are at risk at losing marks or something. Well, the teacher probably favors them enough not to do anything about it.

Anyway, the young man is certainly unapologetic about the glee brought about by the ringing of the door, jumping up and gathering his things quickly. Today's a Club meeting, after all, and he has always loved both competing, and watching others compete. Milo doesn't do it in order to advance in ranking- he'd participate even if it meant him always staying at the very bottom rung. He just likes the thrill of competition, of pushing one's self to improve and working to face a worthy opponent. It's not a matter of showing up or ranking for him- he likes to test his own skill. He's challenging himself more than anyone else when going up against someone during the matches. Milo throws his backpack over his shoulder, twisting his back a bit to crack it, and ease the aching brought about by the too-small plastic chairs provided by the school.

"Have a nice weekend, Mrs. M," Milo bids his History teacher, who he likes despite his disinterest in the subject, goodbye with a friendly smile before leaving. She lives in his neighborhood, actually, and he's helped her fix her car before- saving her the trouble of going to a professional and being overcharged or something like that. The middle-aged woman raises a hand in farewell and smiles, but her eyes remain glued to the stack of assignments that she is currently grading.

As Milo walks down the hall, he spots the Glenn siblings having a bit of a spat, coming up to them just as Merida, who holds some sort of disdain for Milo, to the confusion of the young man, storms off. This is a routine encounter for the two, as far as Milo can tell. Seeing it makes him grateful that he has a good relationship with his little sisters- he'd hate to argue with them all the time, and doing so would only stress out their mother, something he avoids as much as possible. She already has enough stress at work, working as a nurse at the local hospital, without adding sibling arguments on top of it.

"Another argument? Maybe you should give her a bit of space, man," Milo says, bypassing a greeting as he stops beside Jason. The two are a mildly unlikely friendship, but a strong one all the same. Maybe they balance each other out a bit, making it work. Either way, the friendship has given no signs of withering away just yet. "Come on- wanna grab a bite before the club meeting?" Milo suggests with a grin, craving a burger and milkshake from the diner down the road.

Magnolia is already a rather good student, having a gift for studying, even if she doesn't rival people blessed with the supernaturally advanced intellects, but it is only natural for her to whiz through an exam in her best class- AP Environmental Science. Last year, she had opted to double up on sciences with AP Biology, but for her Junior year, the girl wanted to take it a bit easier with something that she already knows about- Environmental Science fit the bill perfectly. Despite finishing her test before the other students, she remains sitting with it in front of her, not really wanting to be the first to go up. It's less an insecurity thing, and more of a 'don't attract attention' sort of thing. Besides, she's found herself locked in conversation with the willow tree that provides shade just outside of the first story class she is currently in. It probably isn't the smartest of ideas for Magnolia to sit near a window, but she continues to do so anyway, because it gives her something to do when otherwise idle.

"And they just kept going on and on about how much they adored him," the tree complained, this one being a shameless gossip who can't help but listen to every conversation held beneath her branches. Most humans can't listen to the words of the trees, but the smarter plants are typically able to understand whatever language is spoken in their residence. Willows are among these smarter trees, though the way this one babbles one wouldn't guess it. Palm trees, on the other hand, have no idea what anyone is saying, and are incredibly vapid. It can be very trying, having one prattle in your ear whenever going to the beach. Luckily, Magnolia isn't much of a beach person.

Magnolia is so busy listening to the willow tree that she, at first, doesn't notice the ringing of the bell, signaling that everyone is free to leave. Only once she notices other people standing up and filing out does Maggie stand, "Well, I have to go now. See you Monday," Magnolia promises, as though she has a choice in the matter. Still, for her gossiping ways, the willow is sweet enough, and Magnolia likes her decently.

After dropping her test on the desk, the teacher, a birdlike man with a curved nose and beady eyes, looks up and smiles at Magnolia. "Will you be joining the River Cleanup on Sunday?" he asks, likely already knowing the answer- Magnolia always makes it her business to be part of such ventures, something which has racked up quite a bit of community service hours over the years. Magnolia is quiet for a few moments before speaking, despite the answer being a certainty.

"Wouldn't miss it," she says in a soft voice, smiling a little bit before leaving, clutching her book against her chest while the rest of her books hit against her hips in the messenger bag strapped across her chest. The girl knows where she is heading- the groundskeepers have been doing an abysmal job of caring for the reading garden, planted by long-since graduated classes, that is at the front of the school. She wastes no time getting there in order to right this wrong.

The flower bushes sing their gratitude, except for the ever-snooty tulips, as she quenches their thirst with a hose that she located, in it's familiar location, at the side of the school. "I'll speak to the groundskeeper about keeping you guys hydrated," she promises, smiling as violets chatter away, and the Roses, not quite snobby by still with an air of superiority, begin dictating the proper amount of water, and frequency of watering, they are to receive. People walk past the girl, most accustomed to seeing her seeming to talk to herself. There are enough communication abilities for people to understand who don't know her.

Seeing three familiar people, Zack, Sebastian, and Millie, walk past, Magnolia raises her hand hesitantly and smiles a bit, before immediately dropping it, thinking that they likely hadn't noticed it anyway.

Zack Hooke

Zack didn't have to wait long for a familiar face to float out of the school. The first to arrive was Sebastian Padilla. Zack liked to think of him as a gentle giant, based more on his personality than his actual physical appearance. And, well leaving out the fact that when Sebastian fought he was far from gentle. Zack always found watching Sebastian fight interesting, he became so much more alert than most people gave him credit for.

"Hey, you ready for tonight? Planning on sparring with anyone?" Sebastian asked as he joined Zack. Apparently Zack wasn't the only one thinking about tonight's club meeting. Before Zack could reply a light gust of wind caught at the folds of his clothes. He glanced up to find the culprit approaching them with a large smile on her face.
"Hey guys," Millie greeted them. The wind stopped as she joined up with the group. Zack grinned back at her, not in the least concerned that she had just used her powers on them. Really, given that she could create lightening, a bit of wind was hardly something to get irritated by. "Yeah Zack, cause you know I'll take you on," She added, having caught the end of Sebastian's query.

Zack decided to play it cool,
"Howdy Seb, Millie." He started, returning their greetings with a grin, "Well, I would probably take you on Millie... but when I won I'd probably have to fight so many people and I really can't be bothered." Zack, of course, was joking. He had about as much chance of beating Millie as he did of beating Sebastian, which was a rather small chance. His power could make people angry and Zack really didn't like the thought of making someone who could create lightening angry. Sure, he could direct her anger at some inanimate object or bystander and hit her over the head while she wasn't looking, but then his main fighting technique would be revealed to the world. He didn't think people would keep falling for the same trick. No, he was perfectly happy to stay where he was. "'Sides, I could never harm a hair on your beautiful head." Flattery could get someone far in life, but Zack flirted for the fun of it. It was nothing serious, he just enjoyed making girls blush.

Millie asked Seb whether he would be challenging anyone. Zack was interested to hear whether Sebastian would be. It was always interesting watching the Elites fight each other. There was always guaranteed to be more fireworks, both the literal and figurative kinds, since their powers were so much more powerful. As Zack waited for Seb to respond his eyes caught movement. Magnolia Settle waved to the group, unsurprisingly from next to a bush of flowers. Zack waved back before indicating for her to come and join the group. He'd had a brain wave the previous night and he was keen to share with Magnolia the wonderful plant related pun he had come up with.

Abigail Porter

Her books for the weekend carefully packed into her school bag, Abby closed her locker. She spun the lock, waiting for the click that indicated it was shut before turning to the figure standing beside her. Abby had always thought it a great coincidence that Ozzy's locker was beside hers. She enjoyed being able to see him between classes and at the end of the day.
"Really, Abby, I think you terrified the poor kid," Ozzy told her, a small smile playing on his face. Abby shrugged, her own mouth mimicking Ozzy's smile,
"I didn't hurt him." She responded lightly, "I just reminded him that it isn't safe to run through the school corridors."

A smile appeared on Abby's face as her mind turned to other subjects, namely tonight's Club meeting. As an elite Abby was used to fighting at the meetings. There was usually one or two confused individual who thought that they could beat her. Some believed that they could jump right into the illustrious Elites without working their way up. Abigail was always happy to show them the error of their ways and help them to understand where they truly fit.
"So, have you heard of anyone likely to try their hand at the top spot?" She asked Ozzy, stepping away from her locker. She pointed down the corridor, wordlessly asking Ozzy if he cared to walk with her out of the school. She knew he would understand her question, he wasn't a genius for nothing.

Finally, the bell rang. The bell that signaled the end of the torturous week and the beginning of the hassle-free weekend. Almost instantly, Hal Humble jumped up out of his seat and proceeded to make his way out the door. He promptly handed his pop quiz to the teacher as he exited. He neither left the classroom with worry nor confidence, as he wasn't quite sure whether or not he passed or failed the dreaded quiz. Regardless, school was over. It was the weekend. It was time to relax, and more importantly, it was time to mentally prepare himself for the After School Club.

As he breezed past the students in the hallway, (WITHOUT his power, of course) he tried to picture who on earth he would declare war against today. In order to become an elite, he needed to face someone who was challenging, yet an easy target. Having a rare and applicable power for offensive battle, Hal knew that he could easily make it to the top if he tried. And he would try. There was nothing the eighteen-year-old loved more than a little competition.

As he opened his locker, shoving some books and papers into his backpack, he could hear Abigail Porter and Ozymandias Bastion conversing from a short distance away. "So, have you heard of anyone likely to try their hand at the top spot?" said Abby. Having lived in the small town of Benjamin for all of his life, Hal knew well of both Ms. Porter and Mr. Bastion. Abigail was the mayor's daughter, and Ozymandias's ancestors had apparently founded the town. Both were well-known hotshots, and both, coincidentally, were elites.

Hal quietly and courageously sauntered up behind Abigail, a snarky grin on his face. "Hope you've heard of ME, princess. You ready for tonight? Never know what's gonna happen..." Hal gave Abigail a testy look as he put his hand upon her shoulder. Princess had always been his pet name for her. It wasn't a name spawned from flirtation, but rather from annoyance. He then turned to gaze at Ozzy, a wide smirk plastered upon his lips."I'm sure you're ready, right? Must be hard being at the top. You've gotta keep your eyes out for every possible threat." He then jumped into the flow of traffic that spread throughout the hallway. "See you two tonight" he said, giving them one last glance before making his way outside, where hundreds of students were conversing upon the school's campus grounds.

As he strolled out into the sun, Hal's eyes flickered around until he found one of his friends, Zack, doing what he usually did best: being a social butterfly. Sebastian Padilla and Millie Edwards were also there with him, but as Hal approached the group, he didn't really acknowledge them. Instead, he spoke directly to Zack.
"If we're on tag teams tonight, you're on my side. Ya got that? No backing out." Hal doubted that there actually would be a team match of sorts, but he just needed a reason to talk to Zack. Zack was a member of the third: a group of students who were neither the greatest nor the weakest at battling. Zack's power was anger manipulation, something Hal felt was completely underrated. He saw a lot of potential in Zack to move up in the ranks, he just wondered whether or not his friend would put in the effort and try.

He gave a small chuckle to Zack, and then turned around to face the school's entranceway. "FINALLY, here she is." he muttered as he watched his other friend cautiously walk down the cement steps, her laptop in her hands, and a pair of gleaming white headphones perched around her neck.

Her brain cells were dead from schoolwork, her hands were tired from holding a camera for most of the day, and overall she was completely exhausted, but that didn't keep Paige Johnson from walking out of Benjamin High with energy and life. With her gray-colored hoodie tied around her waist, she swiftly flew down the old cement steps. For a second, her head turned up to stare at the world in front of her. It was then that she caught Hal with his eyes on her, as if he had been watching her the whole time. She gave him a confused and cynical look as she came closer to the group where he was near.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" she asked, her eyebrows raising up towards her forehead. "I'm waiting for you." Hal said, turning his body towards her. "Oh. Okay. Wow, for once you actually WAITED for me. That's a first." She chuckled lightly, and then turned her gaze towards Zack, Sebastian, and Millie, all three of whom she had just noticed standing there. "Oh, hey guys!" Paige politely smiled, "See you all tonight, I guess..." Judging by who she was speaking to, it was safe to assume that the three of them would be attending the meeting. The unsuredness in her voice came from her own questioning of whether or not she would be at the event. She then snuck past the four of them, and started the journey towards her home. With an upbeat vibe, she walked with a spring in her step as she made her way down the sidewalk and into the town of Benjamin. Hal followed suit as he pulled his small black skateboard from out of his backpack.

As her long-time friend came closer, a small smile started to appear onto her face. She looked both ways, making sure the coast was clear, and then opened her laptop as she walked. "C'mere, I gotta show you something..." Without tapping a single key on the laptop's keyboard, her screensaver suddenly changed into a sketch of some sort of strange-looking machine. Symbols and numbers were scribbled all across the picture. "What in the hell is that contraption?" Hal asked with a smirk. "It's a rough sketch of a treadmill I'm planning to make. But it's not just an ordinary treadmill. It serves other functions as well. Not only would it be a pedometer, but when powered with enough kinetic energy, it'll be able to power...well...a whole city."
"Wait, really? You're being serious, right?"
"I dunno, am I?" As Paige smirked, Hal promptly gave her a matching facial expression.

"But like I said, if it had enough kinetic energy, it would be able to generate a copious amount of electricity. However, this kinetic energy obviously must come from a source." She glanced towards Hal, who shrugged as he started to cruise on his skateboard. "Paige, the next time you want me to be a guinea pig in one of your experiments, please ask me first." She laughed, and broadened her steps as she tried to catch up with him. "Easy there hotshot, I'm not sure when this'll be done by, or if it'll EVER be completed. I don't even have the parts for it yet."

They both then stopped at a pedestrian crossing light, where they waited until the traffic came to a halt. "So, you challenging anyone tonight?" the eighteen-year-old asked his friend. She gave a sigh, and gritted her teeth. "I dunno Hal. I'm not sure if I'm even going to show up." Hal swiftly turned his head, and gave her a baffled look. "What? Why?"
She shrugged, "Well...although you know i'm definitely into simulated violence, I'm not so sure if I'm willing to watch and participate in real violence anymore. It was fun to do battles and stuff at first, but now... I'm starting to think that this whole After School Club thing is kind of...pointless..."
"So you're saying you're a rebel now?"
"I'm not saying that at all! Look, I'm not saying I want to go against the school hierarchy shit or whatever, I just kind of wish that instead of using our supernatural powers to brawl, we should put them to better use..."
She stared out into the road as she continued, "I don't think I'd join the rebels. I've come to the conclusion that if you want something to go away, you need to pretend as though it doesn't exist. By drawing attention to the subject, the rebels only make the cliques more prominent. The truth is only what we choose to believe, Hal. You get what I'm saying?"

Hal briefly nodded. He face seemed unchanged, and Paige knew that he was unconvinced. "Sure. But let me say this, Paige; you have a lot of potential to reach the top. To become a part of the elites. I mean that honestly." He gave her a sharp look as he continued, "The After School Club, it's a tradition. And it's not hurting anyone. It's all in good fun and competition. I know it comes along with all the stupid cliques and shit, but you just gotta...well... in want for better words, embrace them. Think of it all as a way to make you stronger at your power. If you kept working on your power, Paige, I'm sure you could become the strongest yourself. Look at Bruce Wayne; he doesn't have any supernatural abilities, but he's good with technology, and he's one of the greatest heroes of all time. That could be YOU, Paige."

The girl rolled her eyes. Hal's competitive side was one of his greatest flaws. He could tell that he wanted her to be there. She knew that he wanted her to grow her power, however, she couldn't tell if it was for better or for worse. It almost felt as though he had been pushing her to become stronger. As the street light changed and the cars came to a gentle stop, Paige replied to him again, "You know what, I'll let you know if I'm going later. But for now, consider me out." The high school started to fade into the distance as the two walked across the street towards the downtown area of Benjamin.

School had never and will never be Blue's strong point, especially maths and at the exact moment, Blue was wishing it would just be over already. She pondered on whether she was going to be fighting anyone tonight, in those last few minutes of class, and if so - Who?
Her most enjoyable fights were with those who possessed similar powers to hers, such as Zack or Jason, especially Jason, she loved winning against him and it was really the only time she could let her true feelings against him show; knowing what's behind that well build facade of his. However, against Zack it was more like a friendly fight seeing as the two were good friends however that's not stopped Zack from trying to win by making her furious at a random inanimate object, nor will it ever stop the satisfaction she gets from making him crush on a chair or a table.

While thinking of these things, Blue's mind was transported into a dreamland and she wasn't paying attention to anything, especially not the surprise quiz placed in front of her, damn, she hadn't done a single question by the time class ended, shrugging, she was too excited for tonight to be worried about whether Miss Harold might give her detention, she didn't mind it, in fact, as long as it wasn't after school; cutting into their 'clubs' time.

Making her way down the halls, Blue spotted Millie talking to Zack and Sebastian; Blue walked over just as Hal and Paige left, catching the end of their conversation: "'Sides, I could never harm a hair on your beautiful head." Zack said, Blue knew all too well they were speaking about what she had just been thinking of - The fights.
Rolling her eyes at him, Blue interjected "Too scared Zack? Don't worry, I could take you on any day." she grins.

Looking at Millie and Zack's eyes, they seemed to be focused on whatever Sebastian was about to say and so, Blue turned her attention to him too. While Blue and Sebastian were hardly the best of friends, they still got along fine, it's only because to Blue, Sebastian seems like much more of a follower than a leader and - honestly - Followers can become rather boring.

Before Zack could answer his question, a nice breeze engulfed Sebastian, diverting his attention from Zack to Millie. Millie was another elite and practically an instant friend for Sebastian. He hadn't completely figured out his feelings for her. At the moment, the furthest he'd gotten was that he liked having her around. Said girl made him snap out of his thoughts as she asked, "And how about you Seb, any challenges you are planning on making?" By then he had everyone in the group looking to him for his answer. Sebastian shrugged, smiling to all his friends, "Not sure yet, who ever's on there A-game. It would definitely make it more fun if they weren't absolutely defenseless." He rubbed is jaw in thought, shrugging again, as if that was his best answer. "Oh, someone challenged me, ah, I didn't ask his name though. He had a posse, about this high," Sebastian gestured that the guy came up to about his chest, "That might be fun."

Sebastian stretched upward, a few popping noises coming from his back, "Oh, school is so tiring, but it's gonna be so much fun tonight!" He wrapped an arm around Millie's shoulders, not really thinking much of it, (hell, he hardly ever thinks, why would he start now?) smiling down to the girl, "And what about our Millie dearest? Are you planning on taking down anyone in particular?" he asked. Sebastian not only enjoyed sparring himself, but also watching the other fights, much like everyone else in the school.

Hal showed up and made a comment about tag teams, he hadn’t really acknowledged Millie so she just let him talk. When Paige showed up, Millie gave the girl a friendly smile and small wave, the two of them were friends though they didn’t hangout a lot. Millie though Paige was seriously cool, and despite being the same age, Millie always kind of looked up to Paige, she always seemed edgy and older than she actually was. However she only hung around for a moment before her and Hal left, probably to go do some best friend thing. Sometimes Millie would get jealous of the relationship between those two, they just seemed so close and like they knew everything about each other. She had honestly never seen them fight.

After they left Zack continued on where their conversation had left off. "Well, I would probably take you on Millie... but when I won I'd probably have to fight so many people and I really can't be bothered." Millie just laughed along knowing full well that was not the reason Zack would be averse to facing her. "'Sides, I could never harm a hair on your beautiful head." Millie rolled her eyes and nudged Zack lightly more then used to his constant flirting, he was never ever serious, and after the first couple times she had refused to be bothered by it. “Aren’t you the gentleman?” She replied playfully, sticking her tongue out at Zack.

"Too scared Zack? Don't worry, I could take you on any day." A voice spoke out from behind Millie catching the blonde by surprise, jumping around to get a view of the speaker, her face broke out in a massive grin. “Blue, I haven’t seen you all day,” Millie said excitedly as she wrapped her friend in a hug almost immediately. To Millie, Blue was a great friend to have and they always seemed to have fun together. “-And show him no mercy,” Millie said laughing nodding over to Zack, she always enjoyed seeing Blue fight, or even just use her powers. She found it interesting the different things Blue could influence others to behave like, though she was glad they were friends and Blue wasn’t likely to turn her powers on her.

Millie noticed Zack wave over at someone and turning to her left Millie saw Maggie standing a little way off. Smiling kindly, used to Maggie’s introverted ways, Millie extended what she thought to be Zack’s welcome vocally. “What are you doing all the way over there Maggie, c’mon over here,” she mentioned for the girl to come over and join their conversation before filling her in. “We were just discussing a certain After School Club.”

Millie then turned her attention back to Sebastian as he answered her previous question about wanting to challenge anyone. She had to admit amongst the elites Sebastian was her favourite, he was just so friendly and carefree, and she couldn’t not make friends with him. Of course, she had probably done more than befriend him and had moved on to crushing on him. Like massive crushing. "Oh, someone challenged me, ah, I didn't ask his name though. He had a posse, about this high. That might be fun." Millie just laughed and gave Sebastian a light hearted smirk, “Well then, you better not lose. Nothing more embarrassing than beating someone who only comes to your chest.” She held up her hand motioning to the same height he had earlier, though sadly she was still shorter than this mysterious challenger. She knew she was physical weak with a small frame but being around Sebastian was like a continual reminder.

Next thing she knew Sebastian had wrapped an arm around her shoulder, unconsciously drawing her a little closer to him. Her heart skipped a few beats and she looked down for a few moments to regain her composure before she looked up at him grinning listening to what he had to say. "And what about our Millie dearest? Are you planning on taking down anyone in particular?"She looked away for a moment tapping her chin as if in thought before looking back at him, “Well, there’s you of course, I mean, I can’t let you go walking around thinking you are better than me.” Her tone was light and joking, and accompanied with her laugh afterwards she hoped everyone knew she was kidding around. She had no intentions of challenging Sebastian, at least not at that point in time.

She then looked around at everyone else, “In all honesty, I don’t really have anyone I think I’m going to challenge,” She said uncommitted to her decision, while shrugging she was happy with her position and did have any grudges. Though her face broke out into a mischievous smile as she added on to her pervious comment, “Of course, if no one challenges me, I might have to challenge someone to keep things entertaining.”

Millie looked over that School building the small group was still standing, it's figure still everything Millie saw and memories of maths and english still flooding her brain. Even if her weekend had only jsut started she was keen to get away from School. "So we have a few hours to kill before the Club starts and I'm keen to get away from that thing," Millie started motioning over her shoulder towards the school. "So did any of you guys wanna do something fun until then?"

Amelia tapped her pencil idly on the desk as she stared at the test in front of her. Her eyebrows knitted together in confusion as she pondered a question on the paper. The room was filled with sounds of pencil on paper, and the occasional rustle of a paper being turned over. At last, the final bell rang, and everyone leapt out of their seats, eager to leave.

Amelia stayed behind a few minutes, checking over her answers. The teacher stared at her irritated, but didn't say anything. When she was done, she went over and handed in the test, noticing everyone was already gone. Must have taken longer than just a few minutes. The hallways were emptier than usual, meaning that most people had already left the building. Stopping at her locker, she grabbed her backpack and shoved all her books inside. Zipping it back up, she slung the bag over her shoulder and slammed the locker shut.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket, and she took it out to see an incoming text from Lexi.

From: Lexi

Headin 2 club. Coming?

She typed back a quick reply, her fingers flying over the keys.

To: Lexi

Class ran a little long, be right out.

She left the building through the front entrance, and noticed the small groups gathered outside. They were all from the After school club. She saw Sebastian, Zack, and Blue, among others, and opted to go talk to them rather than the others. She hadn't seen Lexi anywhere as she shot a quick glance around the school front. Approaching the group, she greeted them, quieter than usual. "Hey guys..."

Magnolia had nearly not caught Zack gesturing for her to come and join the group, having begun to turn back to the flowers in order to continue the conversation- which had really just turned into a bunch of requests from the various bushes about how they would like their treatment to go about. More likely than not, Magnolia will end up taking care of the flowers herself, rather than having to go and find someone she doesn't know to talk about the issue with. It's more laborious for Magnolia, but she considers it a better alternative by far. Anyway, she catches sight of Zack gesturing her over, and glances back at the flowers. "I'll see you tomorrow," she promises in a little voice before turning off the hose and walking over towards Zack, Millie, Sebastian, and co. (It should be mentioned, at this point, that she actually communicates with plants telepathically- also saying it verbally has been something she recently picked up, when her mother complained that she rarely hears her own daughter's voice.) Her pace is a bit slow, as though giving her time to suddenly turn and walk away at anytime. Magnolia always gives herself time for things like that, though she rarely changes her mind upon having decided something. The girl puts a lot of consideration into her actions, and so it is only natural that she be very good about following through with them.

Magnolia reaches the group, but at first says nothing. Seeing the look in Zack's eye, she can guess that he's about to unleash another plant pun on her. The girl often wonders at the fact that he hasn't just started calling her Lorax, as some of the children in her elementary classes had been fond of doing. The young man seems to have a bottomless supply of flora-based word play, leading her to suspect that he spends altogether too much time thinking up various puns- not only for her ability, she is sure, but for others as well. Well, she hasn't seen him aim his pun gun towards other abilities very much, but quietly believes that he must have them stored up, even if they aren't all unleashed onto some poor student as they are upon her.

The young woman smiles gratefully at Millie, who miles and greets her before filling her in on the most recent subject, which is, predictably, After School Club. The meetings aren't exactly mandatory, but even those who abstain from using their abilities at the fights show up- and even people whose powers aren't really much use in an offensive situation make an appearance, Magnolia and the rest of the bottom rung being a rather good example of this. She can speak with plants, but lacks the step further of controlling them. Her gymnastics might have given her some sort of edge, were this normal fighting among normal students. It doesn't matter anyway- Magnolia isn't really one for violence, attending meetings only due to societal pressure and a general feeling of obligation. Other than the smile, Maggie does little to contribute to the continuing conversation, instead listening- she's always been a rather good listener.

A soft greeting grabs her attention, coming from Amelia Veris. Magnolia knows her, but not intimately. She nods in recognition with another small smile. In regards to Millie's question, Magnolia is rather indifferent. In fact, she has begun to consider going on without the others, so that she can water her garden.

Milo raises an eyebrow at Jason's mask, which he sees for a bit before the boy recognizes him as being his friend, best friend in fact, and allows the facade to drop. Sometimes, Milo thinks that the boy wears the mask so often that it will stick, and he'll lose touch with his actual personality. While Jason's facade may be a lot more polite and such, Milo would hate to see the reality go- it's far preferable in its sincerity than any amount of kind lies. "Jason," Milo responds to the young man's statement of his name, grinning despite the tired expression on Jason's face. If he hadn't already been certain that the boy had been fighting with his sister, this would be evidence enough- Jason always has this tired sort of expression after such interactions. Well, and after school, at times, if he has been playing the part for too long- which often happens. Milo will never really understand how he can stand to pretend for so long, or do it so convincingly. Due to lack of practice, Milo himself is a terrible liar- his face is an open book. It's just as well, for he has no real secrets.

"Well, it probably helps that they are a good bit younger than me, y'know? But I think that the problem is how overbearing you can be," Milo doesn't even consider glazing over it, bluntly admitting that Jason can be a bit suffocating in regards to trying to get his sister to fit into the neatly made box he has prepared for her. "I mean, with Leia and Alex, I let them do what they want, so long as they aren't going to, y'know, injure themselves or something. They are their own people, not just my sisters," he continues, trying to be helpful but unlikely to get through to Jason. For as long as Milo can remember, Jason has had this sort of personality, and he doubts that any amount of advice will fix it.

"Probably doesn't help that you keep trashing her friends, though," Milo adds. He's friends with a few of the people in the bottom rung as well, Josh and Maggie at least, but being more easygoing, doesn't expect Jason to like them just because he does. He just ignores things like that, anyway- it rolls right over him, so long as his family isn't involved. A person could yell and scream insults at Milo's face without the boy batting an eye, but say something wrong about his mother or sisters, and they will find themselves in the hospital with plenty of burn marks from his energy blast.

"Best burgers and shakes in town- of course, the usual place," Milo says with another grin, happy to have the chance to deal with his growling stomach. He has pocket money from fixing people's cars and doing odd jobs around, and it very often goes towards food- the young man has a ravenous appetite.

With the goal of food now in mind, Milo sets off with Jason to the diner, happy that he can hit two birds with one stone- his own hunger, and distracting Jason from the argument with Merida. It's a short walk, luckily.

It seemed their small gathering outside the school was slowly gathering more people, which was just the way Zack liked it.
Blue, having caught the last portion of Zack's comment, joined the group.
"Too scared Zack? Don't worry, I could take you on any day." She joked.
"Scared? Me?" Zack replied, placing a hand over his heart in mock astonishment, "You must have me confused with someone else. I'm never scared." He winked at Blue before adding, "Although I don't doubt that you could take me any day you wanted." Despite the subtle innuendo Zack was certain that Blue actually could beat him in a match. He had nightmares of becoming obsessed with a spoon or chair.
“-And show him no mercy,” Millie's playful input made Zack laugh and he stuck his own tongue out at her.

A moment later Hal approached the group, although he spoke only to Zack,
"If we're on tag teams tonight, you're on my side. Ya got that? No backing out." It was to the point and typical of Hal to assume that Zack would agree. Typical and correct. Zack grinned and nodded his acceptance,
"Why not?" Zack replied with a shrug. Most likely a tag team wouldn't happen, but if it did Zack would be more than happy to work with Hal. Hal had a great way of looking at fights, he was focused and determined where Zack was more laid-back. More than anything Zack thought that it would be fun to battle with Hal. As usual Hal's appearance was really just a passing visit, a flash and then he was gone. "See you guys tonight." Zack said to Paige and Hal as the pair left.

Zack turned back to find Sebastian answering the long awaited question, whether he would challenge anyone. He wasn't sure, however it appeared that a group of rather short students had decided to challenge Seb. Sebastian seemed to find it genuinely amusing. Seb flung an arm over Millie's shoulders, asking the girl if she would be challenging anyone.
“In all honesty, I don’t really have anyone I think I’m going to challenge... Of course, if no one challenges me, I might have to challenge someone to keep things entertaining.” Millie replied. Zack hoped that she did challenge someone. it was always fun watching the big battles.

Amelia appeared in the group, her greeting just as quiet as her approach. Magnolia joined their group quietly too, to be expected from the shy girl.
"Sup Mels." Zack said to the first girl, using one of the many pet names he had for her.
"So, Maggie, who are you... rooting for tonight?" Zack tried to bite back his grin, although he wasn't doing a very good job of it. "I hope you won't leaf before all the fun begins."

"So we have a few hours to kill before the Club starts and I'm keen to get away from that thing... So did any of you guys wanna do something fun until then?" Millie said. Zack had to laugh as she called the school 'thing'. It was oddly appropriate.
"Let's go to the lake." Zack suggested, flapping his shirt to try and get some cool air circulating. It was hot and he would love to take a dip. "Or we could grab some food?" He added. In all honesty he wasn't too concerned with what they did, he was just keen to hang out with his friends.

Ozzy laughed, clearly finding the thought of fighting Hal just as amusing as Abby did.
"I feel that you would make an excellent opponent for him. How can he run when he cannot even touch the ground. Even lightening or weighing down the around the field should give him trouble," Abby smirked as Ozzy spoke. Yes, super speed wouldn't work too well when gravity was crushing you into the ground.
"I don't think Hal has actually thought about that. From what I've seen he likes to act quickly without actually thinking anything through." Abby replied. Then again, for all Abby knew it could all be a massive bluff.

"Charley is simply enacting his pathology. I suspect an Inferiority Complex," Ozzy told her. Abby raised her eyebrows, her gaze flicking back to Charley. An inferiority complex certainly seemed to make a lot of sense. Charley seemed to be openly hostile towards Ozzy and Abby for no better reason then that they were better than him.
Abby flicked her eyes back to find Ozzy's eyes on her. His gaze made her slightly uncertain, an emotion she was not accustomed to feeling. Butterflies seemed to stir in her stomach, only quietening down when Ozzy quickly spoke again,
"Of course, he refuses to permit me to psychoanalyze him. For some unfathomable reason, he doesn't seem to trust me,"
Abby laughed quietly, finding the idea of Charley letting Ozzy psychoanalyse particularly amusing.
"Now, why wouldn't he trust you?" Abby replied with a smile. The question was purely rhetorical of course, they both knew that Charley disliked them. There was no way he'd let Ozzy examine him.

Abby shifted her bag on her back and turned to face Ozzy, "So, what are you doing before the Club meeting tonight?" She asked, "It's definitely too hot to stay inside all afternoon." It was a not so subtle way of asking Ozzy if he wanted to hang out before the After School Club started. Previously she might have just asked him outright, after all the two had known each other since childhood. But recently certainly feelings had began to creep in, making Abby more uncertain than she would like to be.
