Rebel without a cause
Personality: Nikalah appears most of the time as a human personality in an Hanai body. She doesn’t have the typical impassiveness of her race, preferring to live a passioned life. Which is why she left: she just couldn’t take the solemnity of living with others who didn’t see the world the way she did.
Nikalah has a sense of battle humour, which consists of insults and criticism of someone’s fighting style during a battle. This is designed to throw someone completely off their game, so they’ll screw up, hopefully presenting an opportunity for her to take them out. She has a love of battle, not from bloodlust, just from the thrill of a good fight.
She’s also the tiniest bit temperamental. As in, calm and collected one minute, before something ticks her off and she spazzes. If you’re the one to cause a spaz attack, she’ll make you regret it, whether through an emotional, physical, or magical beating.
Nikalah also loves books. First day in a new town, if she has some downtime, she’ll head for the library, and spend all day there. Food? Water? Pssh. Books are better.
Strengths: She’s a good fighter, physically and psychologically. She can back up a good friend, and will, should the need arise.
Weaknesses: She has a tendency to doubt. And is a tad bit over-protective if she gets close to someone. But tell her to back off, and she will.
Weapons: Nikalah wears a thin, strong sword on her left hip, easy to draw with her right hand. The blade itself is strange metal: pale blue-white stuff. There’s a three-quarter blood-channel on the blade, the hilt being made of light silver-coloured metal. The grip is bound in black leather. A pale blue crystal is the pommelstone.
Birthplace: City of Na’an, Tioria Province
Family:
Grandfather - Morishin Menedet - Council of Elders Chairman
Father - Vestor Menedet - Director of Na’an Law Enforcement
Mother - Selahna (Fortallan) Menedet - Professional healer
Brother - (older by 20 Hanai years) Alesdrian Menedet - Law enforcement officer
History: Nikalah’s family was quite prominent in Na’an - her grandfather was the head of the Council of Elders, her father led the city’s law enforcement, and her older brother was highly skilled in both swordplay and magic. Nikalah, like her mother, excelled in healing.
Against her grandfather’s wishes, Nikalah joined the city’s counterintelligence department. He had wanted her to follow in his footsteps, rising through city politics until she held his position. At the very least, she should have gone into law enforcement. He continued to try and persuade her to change her career path, to no avail. Eventually, he cut himself off from the entire family to punish his granddaughter’s thoughtless disregard for the family traditions. In order to end the family’s excommunication, Nikalah left. Since then, she has made a living for herself as a thief/assassin-for-hire.
She came to Armana City on a job, which she recently completed. With her target packaged up in a big box and on the caravan to Ban, she has time to relax a little. Hence why she has now come to the Dark Moon tavern . . . .
