An elven immigrant, merchant and all-around Machiavellian woman, she's trapped in Riv'nar's deep political web and loving every second of it.
Rin is often exactly what she needs to be in order to get things done. Sometimes polite and charming, sometimes cold and ruthless, she is always on guard, sharp, and manipulative. Her wide, expressive eyes allow her to both charm and intimidate, and she uses this, as she uses every edge or weapon she can gain, to her advantage. Rin is talkative and rarely worries about being rude or frank unless it is in her advantage to hold her tongue. She is extremely loyal and protective of anything under her domain--be it her lowest servants or the entirety of the Night Shade Thieves organization--and uses her political guile almost exclusively to further their success; the success and well-being of her allies is often more important to Rin than her own (though she is careful to keep her power formidable in order to remain a political player). On the other hand, everyone outside of her realm of perceived "family" had best watch out, for unless they have a use in her grand designs for the Night Shade or Rin's business empire, they stand a high chance of being used and abused to the best of her abilities--quietly, subtly, though viciously all the same. Detached and hard to read, she rarely expresses her true feelings to anyone but her most trusted companions--a title reserved for fewer than a hand-full of people. For, while Rin is more compassionate than she would ever let on, her trust is near impossible to truly gain and hold on to.
Small black daggers (mainly the throwing variety, one larger in size--borderline shortsword--and another normal-sized for her off-hand), dark brown light leather armor, and a bag of tricks up her sleeve (standard thieving equipment, mostly). She often wears a rich dark green cloak while out in public and a dark grey cloak while out at night on less... overt operations.
It should also be noted that she has considerable amounts of money at her disposal, and although much of it is used to grease wheels and fund guild activity, she can keep a significant amount aside for personal and professional expenses. Again, her concern and loyalty to the operations of the NST makes her more inclined to spend for them over herself, though she maintains a stock of quality equipment for herself as well. Much of her purchases for herself are practical: things like whetstones, poison, lockpicks, books, and services like repair and training. Some of her budget is purposely set aside for the sake of keeping appearances--lavish banquets, gifts and donations in every district (even the poor; especially the poor), and all the best and when the budget allowed, latest items in everything from shoes to carriages. Rin takes time and careful consideration to keep her illusion of endless prosperity and genuine generosity well maintained and widely accepted.
Whether escaping death, avoiding blame for a crime, or simply in exile, Rin is left her homeland far away many years ago to arrive in Riv'nar to stay. She retains very little in the way of old customs, accent, or mannerisms, and she considers herself a true Imperial citizen--having been in the country for so long, and with her fierce loyalty for and deep connections within Riv'nar, it is hard to see Rin any other way. Ever since her arrival, she has slowly worked her way up the political ladder, both through legal and more renegade methods. Rin's strong ties with the Night Shade Thieves did much to raise her position early on, and she has worked for years to make sure the Night Shade has grown to strengthen along side her. She has been implicated in many large-scale crimes and scandals--in business, politics, crimes of violence and more--though Rin has spent decades building ties and alliances to ensure her connections keep her clean and afloat. The delicate political games have a cost, however, in that she is often at the whim of its turbulent changes and dangerous undercurrents; for this reason, she takes many extra precautions to be prepared for physical battles as well as social ones.
