Personality
Kaycee is characterized as a very outgoing person, but only to the people she senses she wants to be friends with. Other than that, she seems very closed off to other people, labeling her as quiet and shy with the masses, even though in the halls with her friends she seems quite loud. She loves wearing loud and girly colors, and very unfortunately has a Niall Horan fetish. She can seem very ditzy at times, and this is because she is prone to losing memory temporarily.

When Kaycee has momentary memory lapses, she either didn't remember something she was told to do, or something someone had said to her, or, if the lapse is more severe, she cannot recognize anyone or anything until the lapse stops. The doctors she has visited can not pinpoint a specific disease since she is still in early stages of diagnoses, but don't think she is dangerous, since she is not prone to violence when she goes into one of her spells. Other than that, Kaycee is a carefree, well spirited girl although she is known for her moments of extreme sarcasm. She is a thoughtful, generous friend, and keeps up most of her grades, with her only weakness being in math, although her memory loss problem sometimes interferes with her learning capabilities. The teachers understand that and push her to her limits, making her write everything down.

Kaycee is also gifted in gymnastics, being extremely flexible and winning a City Championship trophy. She strives to enter in the Olympics one day, although her real goal is to be a fashion designer. She loves going into fabric and vintage stores and making new out of old. Her involvement with yoga also leads her to be a patron of Chinese culture, and she has her bedroom set up like a Chinese tea room. She also enjoys Chinese literature and has online pen pals who live in China, and she is planning to visit.

Kaycee is a bright, energetic girl who doesn't let her disability limit her, or drive her into a state of depression. Sometimes she will ask "why her", but most times she is cheery and radiant with stories to tell to close friends. She is also not afraid to talk about her own sexuality, sometimes going into detail to the astonishment of her friends. She, however, is not much of a party girl as it will sometimes cause her to mingle with people she's not comfortable with. She loves to be a leader, and while she's not an extrovert to the outside world, she is in her own inside world.

History
Kaycee was born on November 11th in the high rise city, and then went to her family in the suburbs. She was influenced by everything around her, one time going as a princess/cheerleader/chef for Halloween. She's always enjoyed many hobbies at one time, and now it is a characteristic of her personality. She is very diverse, but at the same time can't make decisions fast enough or even at all. This was stimulated by her parents, who seemed to do a lot for her in her early life.

Kaycee had an older sister Giovanna, who was four years older than her. When Kaycee was thirteen and her sister was seventeen, Giovanna was diagnosed with terminal cancer, a recessive gene that decided to show up in her. Kaycee and her family took it very hard, and still refuse to believe she is gone. They participated in the funeral, but three months later they all announced Giovanna had just left home and never returned. Her relatives urge the family to go to a therapist, but they refuse.

Since Kaycee was very young, she had moments questioning things, especially when someone told her something and they had to repeat it four times. Kaycee's parents just thought she was slow, and tried to put her in a special education program. However, when tested, Kaycee did not seem to have many problems. The doctors examined her and just proclaimed her as a bit distracted, and made her take ADHD medication for a while.

In the spring of eighth grade, Kaycee was in a car accident. She was physically fine, but not mentally. She had severe amnesia for several weeks. After that, no one thought much about it until Kaycee was remembering less and less. New experts ran through a series of operations, and the only thing they could declare is there was something seriously wrong with her brain, that had been settling there for many years. They gave Kaycee a new medication, but she still has momentary attacks, where her eyes turn green and she is in a state of panic, which is not abusive.

Kaycee's parents thought they should just homeschool her, but the doctors related that it was all right for her to go to school as long as everyone around her knew about her condition. She was worse about the beginning of freshman year, but now as a junior she's controlled it. However, she's always fearful for the next one. This is why she is very cautious at accepting people as her friends.

Kaycee is still a shining student is she reads her notes, and can get through most ordinary procedures. Oddly, the only time she's never gone into an attack is when she is in a gymnastics competition. Kaycee always used to practice with her sister, and this is something she holds on to all the time.

Kaycee was in the car, having showered and eaten and humongous breakfast, which her lame-o traditional father had insisted on.
She had on her favorite jean vest, with the collar she had custom-trimmed on her own. It held the patches on cheetah printed, and she smoothed down the raised collar as she drove. Underneath that she had on the most comfortable blue cashmere blouse, and she loved the way it nestled into her skin, the softness making her smile.
She stopped the car at a coffee shop, and went in to the delectable smells of caffeine, which of course, she hated to drink, but the smell was amazing.
She went to the register and bought herself a chocolate-chip muffin and a bottle of water. The two were never a popular combination, but she couldn't bear to swallow down a thick hot chocolate.

She got back into her car, and drove to school, her music blaring just enough that it couldn't be heard through the windows.

"Hey baby, will you look my way
I can be you new addiction!"

She sang all the way to school, and when she reached the parking lot, she turned down the volume and put on a mock serious face, giggling inside.

When she parked, she reached into the backseat for her bag, which she had to fumble for, and then exited the car.
She looked up to the massive building that had held her for more than two years.
"Always a pleasure to come back to this purgatory." she said as she smiled wistfully to herself.

When she got to the entrance, people glanced at her, probably only for her shocking red hair, which contrasted with the brunettes and blondes in the hallways.
She saw an obviously fake blonde looking at her and said, "It's all natural sweetie. You should take some tips."
The blonde walked away.
Ha.

She looked up to see some familiar faces.
Mikaela and her followers.
Jake and Indigo, extraordinary surfers.
She heard a crashing sound and saw Ian.
Oh jeez! Not again...

She rushed over to him, but he'd already stood himself up and was talking to Jake.
She went up anyway, and greeted all of them enthusiastically.
"Ian, are you....alright?", she asked, concern lining her voice.

Indigo's gaze quickly shifts from Jacob to Ian and the gaggle of girls, cheerleaders to be specific, who watch him fall and burst into a shower of giggles so sharp that it might as well be daggers. Her first reaction is to think of that sort of rain which seems to cut into your skin, and she can't help but be thankful that there isn't any wind to make the effects of it worse. This is temporary, though, as she notices what seems to be a sigh escaping from Mikaela Chandler's mouth, the lack of reaction or attempt to aid serving as that wind which she had previously thought absent. Didn't they use to be really close when we were kids? Indigo wonders to herself. She went to school with most of these people, but in elementary school had been more interested in surfing, skating, and her younger brother than in her fellow classmates. Still, the girl does remember things about others, and drifted friends tend to make her a little bit sad, despite the fact that it is perfectly normal and feeling down about it is just unnecessary nostalgia. Her first instinct, seeing the scene, is to go over to the young man, but she stops mid step at the sight of Ian getting off of the ground by himself and apparently muttering something under her breath.

"I do wish that they could find a less. . .cruel way of supporting their own self esteem, or relieving frustration," the young woman agrees with Jacob, pushing a bit of hair out of her eyes and seeing that Ian is actually on his way over to them, which makes sense because his locker is right here. As soon as he arrives, she opens her mouth to say something, but closes it again when he begins to speak immediately and with a sort of purpose, though the subject does not seem as urgent as his expression would make it out to be. Still, it is rather curious- a person who looks exactly like Jacob?

"Looks like you have a doppleganger, then? One of you'll have to absorb the weaker one," Indigo mentions in a voice that is slightly far off, as she recalls briefly some show that she had seen a long time ago, which had such a premise. More prevalent matters come back to mind, however, when she notices that Ian's glasses are broken, a small crack striking through one lens.

"Right, are you o-" Indigo begins, but Kaycee, a familiar and ever-cheerful face, bounces into the growing little cluster -growing but not large- and greets all of them with her usual enthusiasm. Indigo can't help but smile at the young woman's constant energy, which is always refreshing. Of course, she herself is not quite as energetic, being a far more mellow sort of person, but it is not unusual to admire in others what one lacks themselves. Besides, the girl always seems to have such passion, which Indigo has always liked in a person.

"Good morning," she greets Kaycee in response, before turning her attention back to Ian to wait for his response to the bubbly young woman's question. It occurs to her that he may not want to talk about having been tripped -he had been rather quick to bring up an alternative subject upon coming over- but she doesn't want to simply assume these things. For now, she seems distracted by the crack in his glasses more than anything, only looking away to survey Mikaela's group with raised eyebrows as they walk by.

"Well I don't believe anyone could answer the question about how to love a perfect destiny, it has been something contemplated for years," the girl, Violette paused before continuing, "But I think I do believe in perfection, it's just that society has shrugged it off as non existent."

Stephen nodded in agreement, pausing for a moment to think. He thought about his parents and their crowd, but also about his own generation and the many people he had come across. His father certainly believed in perfection, but he was sure that he was reaching out for the wrong kind. As much as he and his father were estranged, it hurt him to see the man that had raised him in the best manner he could fall so hard again and again.

"People have become disillusioned with seeking perfection because, often, people sought the wrong kind of perfection in the past. They had an imperfect vision for what perfection would be like and failed to reach that imperfect vision of perfection. Others, I think, give up too easily on perfection because they do not want to face the hardship and work it would take," he mused as he turned a page in his book.

"What is a clique? I was part of one in my old school, but I didn't consciously make the decision to join one, if you know what I mean."

"Ian, are you....alright?"

Ian sighed. He might have distracted both Indigo and Jacob for a moment with the news he gave them, but Kaycee had been here to see what happened and he could feelt Indigo looking at him expectantly. He shrugged as if it was no big deal and gave the others a small smile.

"I'm alright, thanks. I appreciate it, but I should have known better than to cross paths with a group of cheereleaders. Too many failed government experiments among them," he joked. He sighed slightly.

"I don't mind too much. After high school, it's all downhill for them. That bitch that tripped me will have to use even more chemicals to make herself look pretty, but she'd still look plastic compared to you two," he told Indigo and Kaycee with a grin.

He'd complimented her!
"Ah you are too cute, Ian!" She ruffled his hair, giving him her most generous smile.

Ian believed wholeheartedly in government conspiracies. She knew the government almost never told the truth to the public, or bended it, but could they really hold such power in everyone's lives? And even if the government tested... oh, he was just trying to make a joke.

Wait......
"Are you just complimenting us to transition between subjects?", she asked him, a bit hurt, but also a bit impressed if this was his intention.

She looked over at Indigo. Indigo was always so relaxed, which Kaycee could only accomplish laying down in her room, or at her yoga practices. Indigo didn't need these, instead focusing on surfing and the water, and Kaycee noticed her hair was wet, probably from a morning run. Kaycee also saw she had sandals on her feet, even though she knew she hated shoes.

But c'mon this floor is full of millions of microbes and bacteria! The dress code's doing her a favor.

She looked down to her own feet at her boots, noticing the clasp that had come undone. She reached down to fix it, but it was almost impossible at her angle. All her hair started to hang in front of her face a she contorted herself and had a very funny concentrated look on her face.

Ah, the expense of having fantabulous footwear.

The heel wasn't cooperating, and she felt off-balanced, Still, she reached for the clasp, now going into a resemblance of a Dancer yoga position, which she noticed with dry humour.
Reach, reach!
And then she was down on the floor with a splat, which brought chuckles and giggles from the crowds in the hallway.

She blew hair out of her face, and looked up with a sheepish, radiant smile to her friends around her.

"The floor seems to hold an attraction to all of us today, doesn't it?", and then she laughed along with the people in the hallway.

"Ah you are too cute, Ian!" She ruffled his hair, giving him her most generous smile. Ian couldn't help but blush slightly, but inwardly, he wondered what she meant by cute. Did she mean that his manner was attractive because he was sweet, or did she mean that he was cute in the way a little kid or a little brother would be cute. If the latter was so, then he was going to be even more depressed today.

"Are you just complimenting us to transition between subjects?" Kaycee asked him. She sounded hurt when she said so and he instantly felt bad. He hurriedly spoke.

"No! Not at all! At least, well, yes, that was part of it, but I think you're both really pretty, honestly. You're," he began. Then he watched her reach down for her heel and he felt himself get distracted with the angle she was in before she fell down. He mentally kicked himself and offered her his hand.

"I don't think they're used to you laughing with them," he noted from the way some people shifted uncomfortably and stared at her strangely.

She looked at the people who had laughed at her embarrassing moment who were now shifting uncomfortably and looking at her oddly.

"Why do they get to have all the fun? I don't have to suffer." She replied nonchalantly, finally closing the stupid clasp.

She reached for his hand and pulled herself up, proceeding to wrap her arm around his shoulder dramatically.

"Look at them, Ian", she said as she squished their cheeks together, getting entirely too comfortable with him, but she didn't think anything of it. She was used to Ian, no matter how awkward he was, and she didn't care about invading her friends' personal space. It was actually a very unnerving quality about her, sometimes making her friends feel squeamish.

"They take pleasure from pain, or if they don't, they are conforming to the mindset of taking pleasure from pain."

She looked him straight in the eye. "I was going to say something really deep, but I forgot it." Then, she laughed again and unwrapped herself from him.

She got her bag up from the ground.
"Do you like it?", she motioned to the bag. "I made it myself. These", and she pointed to the waterproof covering over the underlying layer of sequins and fluffy fabric, "were particularly hard to appliquΓ©, especially to make it form this particular pattern while still maintaining the function of water not seeping through....."
She was animated when she spoke. This was what she was most passionate about, her very core.
Fashion design.
Many a night she had stayed up until 4AM to sew, sketch, create new pieces in her diverse collection, which she wore herself, or sold online.
She loved hunching over the machine to the point where she could be diagnosed with scoliosis at a single glance, getting her fingers cut, her ideas melting into the final product.
She then realized it wouldn't really be appreciated here.
"Ah, nevermind I don't think it'd appeal to any of you.....", she said, a bit deflated, smiling a bit sadly.

I really don't think anyone here can appreciate such an art.....
She looked around the halls to the shiny new store-bought clothes, the outfits copied directly from the mannequins at the department store, and the lack of unique print, style, or color.
"Drones.....", she lamented softly.

Indigo glances back towards the retreating backs of the cheerleaders when Ian assures Kaycee, and indirectly her, that he is fine, before making some snide remark about them. She frowns very slightly, but it is gone as she pulls back that accustomed mellow of smile of hers, the sort that just seems to radiate relaxation and generally helps to give others this feeling that everything is going to be okay. It's probably because the smile gives the idea that she is fully confident that everything is perfectly fine, so confident that it must be true. She looks back towards him, raising one defined eyebrow at his commenting on them being failed government experiments, and then his follow up statement on them being destined for a bad future. Even though he slides in a sweet enough compliment to Indigo and Kaycee with this statement, she feels rather ill at ease with his words. She may have her own biases, everyone does, but she tries her best to remain relatively friendly with as many people as possible. It isn't always completely possible, especially when those people make a point of distancing themselves from people like her, but she finds that it makes life a lot more fulfilling.

"Thanks, Ian, but that's kind of a generalization, isn't it?" she says in a calm voice, closing her locker and leaning lazily against it. This isn't going to be a popular opinion with the group she is among, she knows, because ruling classes don't have exclusive ownership rights to prejudice. As if to soften her comment, Indigo smiles again and shrugs, running her hands through her hair, which is still wet from her morning shower. The attention from her statement is taken, anyway, by Kaycee, when the girl proceeds to lean down to fix her shoe before slipping in a way that almost looks like a cartoon character, landing directly on her backside and prompting an undercurrent of laughter and whispers from the surrounding students. Indigo glances over at them with a gaze so serious that it actually hushes a few, if only because people aren't always very accustomed to seeing that particular young woman with a foul expression on her face.

When Kaycee brings attention to her bag, Indigo can't help but smile at her, because, as mentioned before, she loves to watch people talk with passion. Kaycee has such an animated way about her that just watching her speak makes Indigo feel both refreshed and a little bit energized herself. Unlike Kaycee, she lacks any talent for clothing, and most of her clothing comes from thrift stores and sales racks anyway. It isn't that her parents don't give her money for working for her to get clothing with, but that she'd rather save as much as possible to by that new board she's been looking at, or some replacement wheels, or pay for the next Yoga session. Clothing just isn't a major priority to her, and it never has been, to be honest.

"It's very pre-" Indigo begins, but then she catches Kaycee muttering the word Drones, something clearly aimed towards most of the student body. This pulls a sigh out of the mellow young woman, who runs her hands through her hair again and studies her feet, and by extension the sandals they are wrapped in, before deciding to speak.

"People are all paper from a distance, Kaycee," she reminds her in a soft voice, before smiling again and rolling her neck, which is feeling rather stiff at the moment. "You're making people into who you expect them to be," she adds in an almost scolding tone, before shrugging and, far more passively, tagging "Well, Maybe, anyway," onto her statement.

Not that she can talk, having a certain prejudice towards the preps.

Only making it a couple of feet from her locker before Aaron along with his group of jocks pulled over the cheerleaders. In most occasions when people tried to wave her over at most she would give them a small wave and keep it moving but for her football jocks she didn't mind being late. She played along with Aaron's flirting she wasn't really interested in the guy but she had to admit she liked the attention besides having someone hit on you was always flattering.

"What is that bitch looking it ?!" Mikaela looked from Aaron to Nicole "Omfg! Nikki it is way to earlier for this shit. What's wrong ?" Mikaela said as Aaron started playing in her hair. "That girl with the bushy ass eyebrows is over there grilling us mad hard. Like damn I know were beautiful but that staring stuff is really creepy." Mikaela laughed when Nicole mentioned the girl's eyebrows as she glanced over at the girl that was looking in their direction with a raised brow. They were cheerleaders which meant there was always someone looking at them for one reason or the next.

"Do you even know who she is? Her name? Her clique? Anything?," the girls all looked around at each other than at the guys before looking back at Mikaela with shaking heads and shrugging shoulders. "Then that makes the bitch irrelevant and unless you have the energy to waste there is no reason to stress unimportant people," the girls nodded and Mikaela could still see Nicole eying the girl which made her chuckle.

Just then another body managed to hit the floor this time not Ian but a red headed girl Mikaela wasn't able to put a name to just by looking at her. The collective group of jocks and cheerleaders all laughed along with the rest of the crowd "What is up with everyone today. Did any of these losers learn how to walk right ?!" Nicole said loud enough to be heard over the hall of laughter by her clique. When the girl began to laugh along with the rest of them the amusement in it all fell and Mikaela sensing that things were over decided now would be a good time to get to class. "Well looks like the fun is over here. Come on girls let's get to class," hugging the jocks one by one she made her way pass them and started down the hallway.

When they arrived to class the room was still empty seeing as the bell hadn't rang yet. There was still no sign of Paige but Mikaela wasn't worry about it because unlike her Paige was almost never left for class. Sending her cheerleaders off to save their seats Mikaela went to the bathroom. She didn't really have to go but it wasted time and she got to run into she knew. On her way back to room she uploaded a photo she taken of herself to instragram. As she got closer to the room she noticed a familiar blonde just outside the room "Paige!" Mikaela screamed as she ran over to her bestie wrapping her up in a hug of love. "It took you long enough to get here!" she said as she peeled back her arms to let her friend out of her grip. "You know I don't stay awake during class if your not there to annoyingly keep me awake."

"Thanks, Ian, but that's kind of a generalization, isn't it?" Indigo stated and Ian flushed with shame. He knew he was stereotyping, which was one of the things about high school that he hated, but he wasn't able to help it. He sighed and looked at her guiltily as he responded.

"I didn't exactly mean it that way... Okay, maybe i was generalizing, but I meant to do it as a compliment to you and Kaycee. There are a few cheerleaders that are genuinely nice and good-hearted, but most of the ones in this school are not. Paige and Mikaela are good people from what I've experienced, but they are slaves to the clique if you know what I mean," Ian stated, past memories making his statement more bitter than he was intending it to be.

Kaycee went on about her handbag and Ian could tell it was well-made once he pushed away the very male instinct to dismiss it as a simple bag for caring money and other girly things. He supposed he appreciated different forms of beauty or maybe he was more practical than anything. Still, he listened politely and tried to understand what Kaycee was saying.

"Ah, nevermind I don't think it'd appeal to any of you....." Kaycee finished.

"Your handbag looks better than most I've seen, but I'm not the best judge. Still, it looks good on your shoulder and marketable," Ian told her honestly, feeling a little guilty that he didn't know more about these things.

Kaycee made a comment and Indigo lectured her now, causing him to grin. He appreciated both girls' personalities and Indigo was way more fair and easygoing than anyone he had ever met. He hoped she considered him a friend. He hoped they both did. He turned to Jacob.

"That Stephen kid... He looks like he's trying to reach Nirvana if you get what I mean. He'll probably join the Free-Spirit clique unless he finds a way not to... I suppose the school will group him there with or without his consent, though," he stated with a shrug. That was the way things worked. It was most prominent in high school, but people were still grouped outside of it by interests, nationality, race, income-level, religion, and everything else imaginable.

Indigo spoke up.
"People are all paper from a distance, Kaycee," she said in a soft voice, smiling. Then, she cracked her neck, and Kaycee winced."You're making people into who you expect them to be," she scolded, before adding nonchalantly,"Well, Maybe, anyway,".

"What if what I expect them to be is what they truly are? I mean, I no I'm no higher power or whatever, but I know most of these people fit their stereotypes pretty well, save for a few. " Kaycee responded.

Ian commented on her bag."Your handbag looks better than most I've seen, but I'm not the best judge. Still, it looks good on your shoulder and marketable," Ian told her. She was elated someone liked it. She knew Ian was a nerd, and a boy nerd at that, so he didn't really have experience with fashion. So it meant a lot that an ignorant was complimenting it.

He started talking to Jacob, something about a new "free-spirit" in the school.
"Not to eavesdrop, even though I'm right here, but there's a new kid!?What? Is he hot?! Is he single?", she asked.
She walked over to her locker, where she was still at a hearing distance, and opened it.
A shiny mirror, one of those detachacle shelves, and loads of Sticky-Notes.
Also, a collage of Niall from One Direction. She blew him a kiss.
She grabbed her books, her bag, and a new batch of Sticky-Notes and then closed it.

Just then, the bell rang , signaling everyone they had four minutes to get to their classes.
She took her muffin out of her bag and took three huge bites.
Swallowing, she looked back at the gang.
"Nevermind, tell me at lunch. I'll be looking for you guys. Later, amigos!" She waved.
And she strode over to class, chewing on her delicious muffin.
A new boy? And I was not aware?! This is the best thing since burned toast!
Was that the expression?

She had finished half of her muffin as she got to the door of the room, and slipped in.
Kaycee neatly arranged her things on the desk.
The notebook was in the center, along with other books for the class.
Her Sticky-Notes, to the right of it.
She evasively took the tape recorder in her bag, and shoved it closer to the open zipper. No one would be able to see it at this angle.
She sat down, waiting for class to begin, and she chewed on a chocolate chip.

"Ah, well, then, I'm sorry for sounding naggy," Indigo apologizes to Ian when he admits to knowing that not everyone is going to be exactly the same simply because they are in the same clique. After all, Indigo and Kaycee are both in the same clique, but they are completely different people all the same. A social group does not define who a person is, nor should it be the only criteria that people use when forming judgments about people. When Kaycee mentions knowing for a fact that several of the people she stereotypes are exactly who she views them to be, Indigo winces slightly and then bites her lip, keeping back words. This conversation clearly isn't going to make them budge, and so she decides that it would be best to move on for now, and prevent there from being any tension. Still, she can't help but think about what Kaycee has said, and combine it with various secrets that she knows, but that don't belong to her. Like how Angela, viewed as one of the bitchiest of the cheerleaders, is verbally abused by her parents, and frequently forced out of the house at night. She knows this because Angela is her neighbor, but doesn't give this example because it is not her secret to tell- not even one that she has any right to know, honestly.

She watches Kaycee light up with Ian's comment, and can't help but move on and smile at the girl's elation. As far as smiles go, Indigo has always had a bit of a weak immune system, hardly able to stop from cracking one when she sees others so genuinely happy about something. Of course, her interest soon jumps to the apparent new kid, this interest mostly involving his current relationship status and his appearance. Indigo laughs softly at her excitement, pulling her Calculus AB textbook out of her locker just as the bell rings. "See you then," she tells Kaycee with a smile, even though the bubbly young woman hadn't really been addressing her about it.

Let's see. This year is Calculus AB, then AP Art, and then...right! AP Lit and Comp, just before lunch, Indigo muses over the first half of her schedule, before looking over towards Ian once more. "What class are you heading to? If we're going in the same direction, we can walk together," she suggests, shifting her textbook and sketchbook into her other arm, revealing slight red marks on the arm that had been carrying them a moment ago. "Hopefully we'll have a class together this year- I think we only had one together last year, right? It was just a core, though, so that's to be expected, I suppose."
