"How can one paintbrush change the world?"
Often called a klutzy air-head, Iris lives up to her innocent nature. Without intending to, she frequently causes misunderstandings and trouble for others. Although Iris is naiive and easily distracted by the random, when matters concern her passion for painting, Iris becomes attentive and absorbed in her work. Since she appreciates the random yet beautiful aspects of the world, which are often overlooked and deemed insignificant, Iris respects those who equally care for things seemingly ordinary. Due to her extraordinary passion for painting, however, Iris can disregard her own health and well-being, all for the sake of art.
(Young Iris)
From a very young age, Iris had always shown exceptionable interest and talent in the fine arts, specifically painting. Noting the potential within their daughter, Iris' mother and father encouraged her to continue doing what made her happy. Continuing to pass everyone's expectations, Iris' entries won many contests and competitions. However, when Iris' mother was diagnosed with an unknown, terminal illness, Iris invested her full attention in her educational studies and tests, determined to attend college and support the family and her mother's medical bills with a job deemed more stable and reliable than an artist. Although she had the resources and time to paint, every one of Iris' entries lost in any following competitions. Her paintings had lost something subtle yet significant that overwhelmed her competition. Concerned for her deteriorating abilities, Iris was determined to attend the College of the Arts to discover what this "something" was and whether winning the yearly talent show meant her future occupation wasn't destined to be confined to an office environment.
