The Rules of the Death Note

1. The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
2. This note will not take effect unless the writer has the person’s face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
3. If the cause of death is written within the next 40 seconds of writing the person’s name, it will happen.
4. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.
5. After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
6. The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
7. The note shall become the property of the human world , once it touches the ground of (arrives in) the human world.
8. The owner of the note can recognize the image and voice of the original owner, i.e. a god of death.
9. The human who uses the notebook can neither go to Heaven nor Hell.
10. The person in possession of the Death Note is possessed by a god of death , its original owner, until they die.
11. If a human uses the note, a god of death usually appears in front of him/her within 39 days after he/she uses the note.
12. Gods of death, the original owners of the Death Note, do not do, in principle, anything which will help or prevent the deaths in the note.
13. A god of death has no obligation to completely explain how to use the note or rules which will apply to the human who owns it unless asked.
14. A god of death can extend their own life by putting a name on their own note, but humans cannot.
15. A person can shorten his/her own life by using the note.
16. The human who becomes the owner of the Death Note can, in exchange of half his/her remaining life, get the eyeballs of the god of death which will enable him/her to see a human’s name and remaining life span when looking through them.
17. A god of death cannot be killed even if stabbed in his heart with a knife or shot in the head with a gun. However, there are ways to kill a god of death, which are not generally known to the god of death.
18. The conditions for death will not be realized unless it is physically possible for that human or it is reasonably assumed to be carried out by that human.
19. The specific scope of the condition for death is not known to the gods of death, either. So, you must examine and find out.
20. One page taken from the Death Note, or even a fragment of the page, contains the full effects of the note.
21. The instrument to write with can be anything, e.g. cosmetics, blood, etc. as long as it can write directly onto the note and remains as legible letters.
22. Even the original owners of Death Note, gods of death, do not know much about the note.
23. You may also write the cause and/or details of death prior to filling in the name of the individual. Be sure to insert the name in front of the written cause of death. You have about 19 days according to the human calendar in order to fill in a name.
24. Suicide is a valid cause of death. Basically, all humans are thought to possess the possibility to commit suicide. It is, therefore, not something unbelievable to think of.
25. Whether the cause of the individual’s death is either a suicide or accident. If the death leads to the death of more than the intended, the person will simply die of a heart attack. This is to ensure that other lives are not influenced.
26. Even after the individual’s name, the time of death, and death condition on the Death Note were filled out, the time and condition of death can be altered as many times as you want, as long as it is changed within 6 minutes and 40 seconds from the time it was filled in. But, of course, this is only possible before the victim dies.
27. Whenever you want to change anything written on the Death Note within 6 minutes and 40 seconds after you wrote, you must first rule out the words you want to erase with two straight lines.
28. The time and conditions of death can be changed, but once the victim’s name has been written, the individual’s death can never be avoided.
29. If you lose the Death Note or have it stolen, you will lose its ownership unless you retrieve it within 490 days.
30. If you have traded the eye power of a god of death, you will lose the eye power as well as the memory of the Death Note, once you lose its ownership. At the same time, the remaining half of your life will not be restored.
31. You may lend the Death Note to another person while maintaining its ownership. Subletting it to yet another person is possible, too.
32. The borrower of the Death Note will not be followed by a god of death. The god of Death always remains with the owner of the Death Note.
33. Also, the borrower cannot trade the eyesight of the god of death.

NOTE: There are far more rules, but these were the beginnings. Not all are necessary knowledge in order for you to join this RP. I have bolded all necessary to know.

Otherwise known as 'Gods of Death', these creatures are from an alternate world nearly unbeknownst to all humans, except for a select few. In simpler terms, they are Grim Reapers of sorts. They use their notebooks, The Death Book, to kill human beings in order to lengthen their own lives. They are Guardians of their Death Note, and unless it is somehow dropped into the human world, it belongs to only them. Once dropped in the human world, however, it belongs to them only if it is returned to them by a human. They cannot be seen by humans unless the human being has come into contact with their Death Note, and the first human being to touch their Death Note then becomes the owner of it. The Shinigami is forced to be with the human at almost all times. They do not, however, care for the human being - at least, most do not. They stay with them solely because of the Death Note, and rarely develop emotions and feelings for the human who possesses it. They are frightening creatures in appearance.

In actuality, these are not Gods. They are the human beings who have become owners of a Death Note and are connected with Shinigami. Their powers differ between them, but all powers are available to all of the owners. The first owner, Kira, finds himself to be a God of some sort, and works to carry out the righteous act of him, and bring justice to the world, hoping to make it a more peaceful place. The second Kira is a copycat of sorts, but only because she believes in what the original Kira is working to achieve. She has little to no contact with the original Kira, but works alongside him to help carry out his wishes, as well as her own. Not too long after, two more Death Notes appeared in the human world. One was discovered by Chattich, who has no wish to use his powers for what is considered to be 'good'. Instead, he uses the book for his own selfish and personal gain, such as killing people who are in his way of fame and fortune. The second Chattich is another copycat, but she follows the original only because she feels indebted to him. Indebted for what? No one knows.

All of the owners have the ability to write the names of their victims in their books, so long as they picture their faces in their mind when writing the names. However, only those who have performed the Eye Deal with their Shinigami can see the lifespan and names of anyone they cross, just as Shinigami's can. The catch, however, is that they cannot see their own lifespan, nor the lifespan of other owners or Shinigamis. However, they can see the names of other owners and Shinigamis.

The Investigators are normal human beings with no powers or abilities out of the ordinary, except for investigaiton skills. They are completely against anything and everything both the Kira's and Chattich's stand for, and strive to rid them of this world and achieve true justice. They believe that any killing is murder, whether the deceased be evil or good. Their missions in life are to bring down the Kira's and Chattich's once and for all, and are a special organization headed by a mysterious figure that only the closest members personally know.
