"Robin's a girls name. Call me Robbie."

a character in “The Demon Bureau”, as played by Alle9009

Description

Name: Robin "Robbie" Speedman

Age: 19 years old

Gender: male

Race: human

Appearance: Robbie has messy, neck-length brown hair and clear blue eyes. He often has a tired look on his face, which is normally accompanied by a faint scowl. He has a tall, thin body, which is 172cm tall. He has deft hands and long legs, and wears a bandana to keep his hair out of his eyes. He has a scar on his abdomen which is faded and pinkish.

Clothing: he wears a blue army jacket, with a white t-shirt underneath. He wears comfortable grey trousers and black ankle-boots. His bandana is black with a large cat outline decorated on the front, and pushes the hair away from the eyes. His ensemble might change, but the boots remain the same no matter the outfit. He carries his wallet with him everywhere, along with wearing black, fingerless gloves designed for gun-use. His wallet has a couple of cats sewn on the cover and contains a picture of Robbie and his brothers.

Weapons: dual guns. He's trained to dual-wield guns, with good accuracy. His punches are weak compared to a demon and he has poor close-combat fighting skills, but he's an expert at using technology and far-range combat. He's also incredibly fast, and demons might have a hard time matching him in terms of speed.

Personality: cynical, lethargic, and laid back. He has a weird kind of laziness - he'll work really hard on the subject, make multiple checks and cross-references to make sure that the information is accurate and that he has covered all the bases as much as he can without making any careless mistakes and without stopping, then go back to sleeping and doing whatever he wants until the next case. Rinse and repeat. He is not a morning person. He seems aloof and non-caring at first, but he's actually a pretty good person at heart who does care even if he doesn't want to show it. He can be quite sarcastic at times, and is logical and pragmatic. Do not threaten or harm his family unless you want to die. He's the kind of guy who gets easily irritated, but hard to anger. He'll complain, but will go along with it and do it anyway. He can be really stubborn and is very frugal. He is surprisingly good at housework and taking care of people, but his food can be classified as a torture weapon.

Background: Robbie had pretty neglectful parents, who permanently migrated out of his life when he was 14, leaving him to take care of his brothers Cameron and Taylor, who were aged 13 and 11 when they left. His parents gave them money monthly, but it barely covered the expenses. As a result, by the time Robbie was 15 he had a part time job and was really good at housework and taking care of people. He became lethargic from expending so much energy working and studying without a break, but tried not to burden his brothers since they were just as hard off as he was, even though they were worrying about him and everything. He was the older brother, so he was expected to take care of them, even if he was only slightly older than them. He ended up taking multiple part time jobs to make ends meet, so that his brothers wouldn't have to suffer that much. They were probably the only reason he didn't become a delinquent, instead forcing himself to be a good student so that the authorities wouldn't find out and split them up.

Robbie and Taylor were picking Cam up from his part time job when a demon tried to rob the place. He had a knife and ordered everybody to go lie on the floor, while Cam gave him the money. Robbie probably wouldn't have done anything other than silently encourage Cam to hold himself together if the robber; who wanted more even though there wasn't, get angry and grab Cam by the collar to put his knife to good use. Robbie moved faster than anyone had ever seen him move and kick the demon in the head. He was taken by surprise and let go of Cam, who took it as his cue to get to safety. Robbie tried to get the knife out of his hand, but the demon recovered and stabbed him before he could do so. Adrenaline took over and Robbie kicked the robber between the legs as hard as he could, before realizing he had a stab wound. They both keeled over, Robbie due to pain and blood loss ; the thief due to pure, undiluted pain. The last thing Robbie could remember before passing out was one brother tearfully trying to stem the wound and the other one bashing the robber repeatedly over the head with what seemed to be a fire extinguisher.

When Robbie woke up, he was in the hospital. After viewing the tapes, the bureau was so impressed by him having the balls and ingenuity to take down a demon on his own that they offered him a part time job on the spot, with good pay and medical benefits. Robbie accepted, and that was how he got to work at the bureau.

Likes: his family, his friends, sleeping, computers and electronics, practicing with guns.

Dislikes: people dissing his family, his parents, mornings, his name.

Sexuality: bisexual.

Other:
his brother Cam is currently 18. Going to university to get a medical degree. A cheerful, sweet kid who loves boxing and martial arts, who practices tai chi in his spare time for relaxation. He knows self defense and has trained his body to be strong ever since the robber incident.
His other brother Taylor is currently 16, and in highschool. He tries to hide his feelings behind an aloof and angry front, but he's really a sweet kid with a bad temper. Tsundere who's tsun-tsun, like a jumpy stray cat. He tries his best to be mature, but he's a good kid who feels too much and is embarrassed by that. He's got good grades and is good with technology.

So begins...

Robbie walked out onto the street, yawning. He was dressed in his usual ensemble - jacket, shirt, jeans and ankle-boots. The wind ruffled his hair and he shivered, glad that he was wearing a jacket. Waving goodbye to his brothers, Robbie blearily walked to work, nursing a thermos full of coffee Cam had made for him. He gave a small grin as he took a sip, the hot, homemade brew sliding down his throat, warming him up. Cam, Robbie thought happily as he continued to sip his coffee, Thank God you took that job as a barista last year. This coffee is so good.... More awake, he strolled to work, his book bag swinging behind him.

Once Robbie made it to work, he looked around curiously, finding the place empty. Huh, he thought, placing his bag and thermos onto his work table. Seems like I'm early for once. Robbie sat down and took out a textbook, shifting into a more comfortable position as he read. He read, so engrossed that he lost track of what was happening around him. He only snapped out of it when he heard Arisa's voice. "Yeah," Robbie said distractedly, turning the page. He didn't look up, still half-focused on reading. He shifted in his seat and crossed his legs. "It's pretty cold too." Cold enough for the guy to have brain freeze, probably. I mean, cutie? Really? he thought. Robbie found his place in the book and continued reading, unaware that he had said his thoughts out loud.

When Arisa began talking about the mission, Robbie kept his book and listened; taking note of every word she said. Once she was done, he took out a pen and a dark brown notebook with white swirls on the cover and placed them on his desk, asking to Arisa as he did so, "I can help you keep an eye on the Bureau, if you want. I'm not going to be moving for a while, anyway."

Robbie knew that he wouldn't be able to last long if he actually had to fight head on with a class 3, especially if he was on his own. He had to come up with a plan, and since he was going to stay in one spot while Arisa wanted out, why not kill two birds with one stone? That way, he could help out a colleague while coming up with a plan that might help with the case. Turning to a new page, he began to write down the information Arisa had said in small, somewhat untidy writing.

Catherine was frustrated with herself, her lack of control over her own curiosity and sometimes even her own actions. But she was rewarded by the fascination of what she found. An office building, an agency, running just like any other. But it wasn't the inhabitants of the building that fascinated her, it was how any human could think of Demons any differently even as they see them moseying along and living lives like anyone else. It baffled her, as did how her feet seemed to have minds of their own as they led her further in. But then she began to grow a bit nervous, fingering the material of her tank top as she looked around. Maybe I shouldn't do this, report the murders that happened years ago, but would it even be taken? What would happen with the information? Would it be tossed away due to it happening so long ago or would it be accepted? Cat didn't know, and the thoughts made her hesitant. I don't even know where in the building I should do it.

After staying politely silent and waiting for an announcement to end, Cat built up herself to go to one of the many employees around her, asking where she would file such a thing. She received a vague answer and was pointed to the woman that had given the information or the man that was sitting at his desk as writing things down. With a nod and a silent sigh, she approached the woman, having chosen her because the man looked busier, "Excuse me, miss?" Cat asked with a kind tone and friendly smile, "Would you know where I could report something? It's nothing recent, but I was wondering if the Bureau would want to know of it."

When Robbie volunteered to stay behind, it was Arisa's chance to get out of the office. "Now the only issue would be not to face the class 3 demon alone." She said. Just as she made her way to the door, a young woman walked in. "Would you know where I could report something? It's nothing recent, but I was wondering if the Bureau would want to know of it." The woman said. Arisa then answered: "It really depends on the gravity of the crime committed and if any evidence is available. Currently we are out for some night crawler attacking people at night. So what is this you would like to report?"

Robbie didn't look up as Arisa left her desk, instead focusing on scribbling down into his notebook information pertaining to the demon and the beginnings of a plan.

Demon - Class 3

Wanted: alive.
Reason: attacking humans at night.
Demon weapons: very tough skin, so use pointy bullets, heavy blunt weapons and swords. Must find very strong demon partner before apprehending him. Avoid close range.
Reward: a bonus. Also $100 for info on whereabouts.

Plan: examine victim similarities, and how they were attacked. Also when. Examine places where they were attacked. Map the area, see if there's a pattern. If needed, act as bait, but LAST RESORT. I do not want to die. Find out what the Demon looks like.

Robbie frowned and stared at his writing, wondering if he had missed out on anything. Hesitating, he decided to add,

Why is the demon attacking the victim? Was anything taken? Any purpose?

Underneath that, he wrote,

Examine police records and evidence about the incident, if possible. Ask Arisa.

Robbie sighed and stood up, taking his notebook and looking around for her. He found Arisa near the door, talking to a girl with blonde hair who was clutching at her clothes in what seemed to be a worried manner. He began to walk to them, a bit worried. Was it another demon attack? Or did she have a new case for them? "Sorry for interrupting, but is everything alright?" He asked the two of them, coming to a stop behind Arisa. He turned to the girl, noticing that her breath was a bit shaky as well. "Hey, do you need to sit? You don't look to good." He asked her worriedly.

Catherine gaze switched from the woman to the man who, now that she was closer, didn't look to be too much older than her. "I..." she paused, about to refuse his offer. She wanted to be able to handle this, to speak about it without having to sit or cry into a pillow. But she knew if she tried to keep standing, she'd just fall. So she nodded, "I think I should. Thank you. And I'm sorry, I just... I don't normally talk or even think about this." She moved her hands from her clothing, trying to keep her self from fidgeting so much, but instead she started brushed her fingers through her hair before playing with one stubborn lock that framed her face.

But she'd already begun talking about it, and with one word came a steady trickle, all of the thoughts trying to escape, the whole memory. The emotions. Blood... so much blood. And the darkness, the monster, the demon hiding in the dark.

No. Catherine, don't think about it. Don't.

She closed her eyes, beginning to regret ever having come in here, but she forced herself. With several slow, shaky breaths she opened her eyes. But she didn't meet either of the stranger's eyes, and instead looked anywhere but them. It was probably odd, childish even, to still be so shaken by that night. But she had that scar, it was there to remind her forever that she may be a target.

With a clear but weakening voice, she spoke, still avoiding their gazes, "Where would you like me to sit?"

"Yes, here take a seat. We have many places to sit down." Arisa said. "So let me guess. This thing that you would like to report happened a long time ago and judging by your emotions, it has something to do with you. Did a demon kill a family member of yours?"

Arisa sighed: "It happens from time to time but it is good you come to us about it since it is our job to catch these demons gone wild." Now she awaited the visitor to tell them more about it, so that it could soon be investigated. She already started to search the database with the particular keywords mentioned.

Cat sat down gratefully, though somewhat hestitantly as she continued speaking, "Thank you, and... yes. You're correct. I'm Catherine Hayes, I'm the survivor. It happened eleven years ago, when I was seven. My parents..." She trailed off here, trying to regain her composure before she continued, "My parents, Daniel and Caroline Hayes, as well as the Nanny, Garcia Ewell, were murdered." Her brows furrowed as her thoughts suddenly went to the murderer, the demon that had grinned down at her. And her hands began making circular motions as if she were trying to speed up her own thinking. "The demon it... he uh..."

I'll come back for you...

It was a whisper, one she swore she could hear whenever she was alone in the pitch dark. It was a spoken promise that had been given alongside the scar on her back. From habit, her left hand bent at the elbow so that her fingertips brushed one of the tips of the scar at the top of her shoulder blade, "He... appeared more animal than most demons with animalistic features do." She sighed, just speaking of him left a bad taste in her mouth, "His skin was an odd texture, grey, while his eyes were almost completely black, but unless he has a healing factor, he should be missing one. I kind of... stabbed it with a syringe. His teeth were sharp, and his hair was black, probably..." She thought for a bit, looking around absent-mindedly before her eyes fell on the male agent behind the female one, "Probably three inches shorter than yours. And he was tall, taller than my-" Catherine blinked away sudden moistness in her eyes as she continued, "father, about 6'9" at least."

Cat began to bite the inside of her lip as she felt more tears trying to well up, "Is there anything else either of you need to know? Something you need me to do maybe?" She didn't wan to cry and hated crying in front of people, it always either upset or annoyed others or made them feel sorry. She didn't want to make them feel sorry for her, she didn't want to make her first impression as a whining child. But... this was still a wound that hadn't scarred yet, and by talking about it she was only picking the scab off. She could cry at home, leave as soon as possible so she could empty herself of tears and not bother anyone while doing it.

Robbie opened his notebook and took down the information the girl - Catherine Hayes - was giving them. His expression didn't change, but he felt sympathy for her, mixed with admiration. She had been a victim of a killer at a young age, and was the only survivor of what sounded like a serious attack. Catherine had probably witnessed the attacks, too, if she had seen the demon. And she had the guts to stab him in the eye with a syringe and still remember what he had looked like in detail even though the attacks had happen years ago. And she had the courage to come up to the bureau and recount the whole thing, even though it was probably - definetely a really bad experience for her. Not many people could do that, and Robbie felt that she deserved a medal.

When Catherine mentioned his hair, Robbie resisted the urge to run a hand through it, instead noting it in his book. Arisa was already looking it up on the database, this was just in case the computers shutted down and caused the information to be lost. And also so that Robbie could come up with ideas easier and practice his handwriting skills, but if anyone asked, it was because he wanted a safety precaution. Robbie wrote in a code he had made up and only he knew, so if it was lost or stolen the person would only find mundane gibberish instead of information about the cases. And he kept it on him at all times and had installed a lock, which should help as well.

At Catherine's question, Robbie looked up and stopped writing. "Yes." He replied gently. She looked like she was going to cry, and Robbie didn't want to be accused of being the one to cause it. "Is there anything else you can share with us that would help? Anything at all? Something you think he said, a weird detail in the background, anything. It doesn't matter if it sounds stupid or crazy or it was just something which feels insignificant, so long as it might help." After that, she could go and rest in another room made specifically for this very purpose - to allow people who recounted their tale a chance to collect themselves or cry in peace. Or go home, if that was what she chose.

Cat removed her hand from her shoulder as she listened to the agent, thinking over his question as she realized what she'd been doing. She flexed her fingers, as if testing whether her not she'd lost control of the limb. But meanwhile, she answered him softly, "Acutally, yes... He seemed to know the layout of the house well, almost as if he'd been there before but... there's something else. He likes leaving signatures." She began shifting, "You won't be able to see it well, but... it's a scar. A large 'X'."

As she finished speaking, her back was to the two agents, her shoulder blades bare enough to show what appeared to be two scars against her skin. It was really just two tips of the top part of the 'X' spanning her back. "He gave me this when he was... interrupted by sirens. As well as something else, something he said." She shifted again so she was sitting normally again, "I'll come back for you..." She almost grimaced at the cruel use of those words. Cat knew that certain wording from when someone gave their word that they'd return to someone else because they loved them. It was meant to mock her, for her new lack of loved ones as well as a death threat.

Cat turned her gaze downward to try and hide the tears, the ones forcing their way through, beneath her eyelashes. She didn't want to have to dwell on this any longer than she must, so she continued, "If you'd like, I welcome any agents here to come search my home. I don't think anything, not even the blood, was cleaned up. But everything's covered in dust and white sheets, and being so old I don't know if any possible missed evidence would be helpful." The young woman suddenly wiped the tears frm her eyes, trying to disguise the movement as brushing her hair away. "I just... if you choose to go there, could I wait here and go with you? I won't be a bother, I just don't want to be there..." Cat hesitated, stopping midsentence before restarting, "There are too many memories there, and I have the feeling that something could happen if I'm alone."

Well, that hadn't sounded any better, any less serious, but she'd told the truth. If they chose not to search for anything, she'd understand and she'd probably just go to try and relax somewhere.... maybe rent a hotel room until she got te house cleaned up to the point of where she'd be comfortable. But it would feel so empty then, so she didn't know what to do.

When Catherine responded that yes, she did have more details, Robbie raised his pen, ready to write. He raised an eyebrow at the edges of the X scar he could see on get back, but otherwise kept writing, expression neutral and professional. Inside though, Robbie was... Upset. Yes. That seems like an appropriate word for it. A more appropriate word would be "simultaneously shocked and angered by what the demon had done to a little girl", but that wasn't a word and wasn't really too good a description for what he was feeling, although it got the gist of it. And the demon was still loose...

Well, whatever. There was no point wondering about the length both humans and demons would sink to when they had what they believed to be a reason to; he'd be up all night if he did. Robbie continued to write down the information, adding a few personal notes as he did so. His mind was buzzing, working to figure out any extra details he could add from the description. There would probably be a few changes since it had been many years since it happened, but if he was recorded in the digital base with the same appearance they would probably be able to find him, though they would also have to make sure that he was the same guy. He took note of Catherine's reactions as well, noting that she did seem genuinely distressed.

When Catherine asked whether she could stay here for a while instead of going home, he frowned and said, "we have a room you could rest in, I think. Um... Arisa!" Robbie said, turning to her. He tapped her on the shoulder, asking, "what do you think? You're the boss here." Personally, he believed that they should provide Catherine some protection in case the demon came back for her like she had said, but he didn't know if that was the right choice. It was probably best to leave it up to Arisa, since she was more experience in this kind of things than he was.

When Arisa was spoken to about the woman staying there for protection, she responded with: "If she insists on protection then she can stay here. I have already found the information on the case and a lot of it seems to match with our class 3 that we are to arrest. If we are lucky, we should be able to catch this evildoer within days and put him away for good. I get tired of these demons who attack humans solely because they think they are powerful. Robbie, I am going to drop some info off at the police station and then head out in search of the class 3 in the evening. :3"

Robbie nodded in agreement, but responded cynically with "Only if he's the same guy, Arisa. If he isn't, then we still have a murderer on the loose. But yeah," he agreed, "I'm tired of those kind of demons too. Seriously, why are so many of them like that? It's as though they think they're justified to do anything just because they're demons." He sighed and scratched his head, remembering the demon which had gotten him in contact with the agency in the first place.

Ah well, no point thinking about it now. Robbie turned and beckoned to Catherine, saying "I'll lead you to the room, I guess. Then I'll guard you as well, since I've got nothing else to do. Or unless I'm needed here, in which case someone else will guard you. It's up to Arisa. Hold on though, I've got to gather my things first." He turned around and headed to his desk, quickly gathering his belongings before heading straight back to them "ok, done, let's - wait, almost forgot."

Robbie turned to face Arisa, remembering the reason why he had approached her in the first place and her plans to head out for hunting the demon down in the evening. "Arisa, do you have a plan? I hate to say this, but heading out to catch this guy without a plan is suicide." He stated baldly. If Arisa didn't have a plan or a demon partner, she wasn't going to be able to take down the demon without some serious luck, let alone figure out where he was or how to take him down without serous casualties to herself. Robbie might be a guy who wanted to be out of dangers way whenever possible (he had brothers to take care of, how was he going to do that if he was in hospital or dead?), but if he could help Arisa, he would. If having a plan increased the chances of less casualties, Robbie would make one in a heartbeat.

"If you don't have one, just send me all the info you've got on the demon to my laptop and I'll come up with a plan for you. Victim profiles, areas he was seen in, anything. It might not be a hundred percent foolproof, but it'll be better than nothing and since I've got time to kill hanging out in the bureau guarding or whatever, I'll be able to help out. If you don't need my help, just say it and I'll leave you alone." Robbie kept his face neutral, but his heart was beating nervously. It was the first time he was doing something like this, so Robbie was unsure if the reactions to his attempts to help would be received positively or negatively.

Robbie seemed to be worried about Arisa as he thought that she may not have a plan. But Arisa smiled and said: "I just have to make a couple calls and then I should have someone in the shadows cover me in case I have problems. Otherwise I could ask my unrelated uncle since he is a strong demon. He can bend steel girders with his bare hands. You can meet him sometime since he often goes to a bar near here after work. So if you need information about the case, just look it up on the database. I sent a message to the police while I was on the PC to see if they could send over a couple officers since we are kind of short staffed today."

Arisa then said goodbye and left the building. She would only ask her "uncle" if there really was no one else since she feared that her uncle may cause a lot of damage to surrounding buildings in a fight.

A chill had run through her veins at the thought of any murderer like that being out there, but it didn't show. Instead, relief washed over her and caused her to give a small smile and sigh of gratitude. She'd called goodbye to Arisa, giving a "Thank you and good luck!" after her farewell. When Arisa was gone and Catherine was left with Robbie, she stayed silent for a moment, collecting her thoughts and looking around the all too quiet office.

"So... thanks... again, for what you're doing. And that was sweet. Your wanting to help her, I mean." She smiled and hugged herself, "I'm sorry if my being here is keeping you away from anything. I don't mean to be any trouble, really." She paused, trying to think of a way to try and keep too awkward of a silence from forming, "Would you... like me to carry your things for you? Or just some of it?" But it wasn't just an excuse for avoiding an awkward silence, she wanted to help him however she could no matter how small it was. She didn't know how else to repay what he was doing for her, using his own time to guard her.

Robbie nodded. "Ok, goodbye then." He said, taking note that Arisa apparently had an unrelated demon uncle. That could bend steel with his own hands. If he could do that, Arisa probably wouldn't be in much danger. Turning, Robbie almost dropped some of his books, only managing not to at the last second. He probably should have just stuffed it into his bag, Robbie hadn't been thinking too much about it at the time. Now, he was carrying a bag, a few books, a pencil case, and a blue computer bag which contained his laptop. Yeah, he probably should have thought this out sooner.

At Catherine's words, Robbie looked at her in surprise. "Um, no need to thank me, unless you feel better doing so. We're just doing our jobs. And I need to do research, so guarding you is like killing two spots in one stone. I..." He hesitated, then gently gave her the books and the pencil case to carry. "Yeah, I do need help carrying my stuff. Sorry. But the room's pretty close, so it won't be much of a burden. Thanks." Robbie replied gruffly, his ears turning red with embarrassment. Making sure that Catherine was following him, Robbie lead her to the room she would be staying in, opening the door.

The room was small and utilitarian, but cozy. It was painted a light peach colour, and there was a simple white bed at one side of the room, with a small wooden bed stand and a lamp beside it. A table was in a corner with a chair, and there was a window, which gave a view to the outside. There was also a small cupboard, in case they were staying for an extended period of time. Robbie placed his work bag and computer bag on the table before turning around to face Catherine, giving a small smile. "Well, this probably isn't much, but it'll be where you're staying for now. How is it?"

Catherine noticed his ears reddening, and smiled to try and make him feel better, "Oh, I don't mind helping you, small favors are probably the least I can do to repay you. Besides, I wouldn't have wanted you to fall, feeling so enbarrassed is pretty bad. But really, you've no need to be embarrassed for needing help. If I followed every emotion I felt, I wouldn't have walked in these doors today." She paused then as the door to her temporary room opened to reveal what was inside, and her smile widened. Cat listened as he spoke, walking in behind him to set his books and pencil case with his other things on the table.

In answer to Robbie's question, a small laugh broke from her lips as she looked around the room, "It's cute, almost adorable if it's possible for a room, but definitely cozy. I'd say thank you again, but it's probably getting tiring." She went over and carefully sat on the bed, tesiting it by bouncing lightly a few times. "Yeah, it's better than some of the places I've stayed, to be honest." Smiling over at Robbie, she shifted on the bed so she was sitting cross-legged. After getting comfortable, Catherine gestured to the books on the tabland asked, "Do you like to read?"

Robbie nodded, shifting the books and pencil case to one side of the table. He said, "yeah, a bit. It passes the time, and there're some pretty interesting stuff in there. I borrowed these from my brother Cam, though. He's a bit of a bookworm, especially when it comes to sci-fi. I often had to pull him away from bookstores when we were young..." His smile grew smaller, more content and happy; almost as though he didn't realize he was smiling, at the thought of his brothers. Cam had a really large library in his room which ranged from cheesy romance to action thrillers to explanations about quantum physics. Robbie and Taylor always borrowed books from him whenever they wanted them, and Cam didn't really mind so long as the book got back in one piece. If they weren't, he sulked until he got a replacement as an apology or a really good explanation on why they were currently out of commissioned.

Robbie gestured to the pile of books on the table, taking out his laptop as he did so. "You can read them, if you want. Just make sure that they stay in one piece, ok? If you need me, just tap me on the shoulder or something and just ask." He said distractedly, taking a seat. The books he had on him were currently a book explaining quantum physics, a lighthearted comedy, and a sci-fi action thriller. They all belonged to Cam, and Robbie didn't really want to face Cam when his books we broken. Quickly, he typed in his password and logged in, pulling up information about the case and writing down patterns and common things inside his notebook, trying to see if Catherine's demon was matched with their current demon, and if so, any common locations and patterns.

Catherine smiled the whole time she listened, and in truth thought it was darling. And she couldn't help but let her smile widen when Robbie's smile changed as he spoke of his brothers. She could swear his tone even changed a bit. And she had to admit, the whole thing was pretty cute, and it lifted her spirits after drudging up the past.

"Your family sounds charming, they're lucky to have a brother like you." She smiled again, more gently this time before shifting to relax, laying down on the bed, "And thanks for the offer, but I wouldn't want to risk your brother's wrath if I don't even know him. I think I'll just... think a bit."

As he continued his search through the halls of The Demon Bureau of Elanya City, he realized that what he was doing was the exact opposite of what the job acceptance letter had told him to do. It specifically said, in bold print even, that he should wait round in the reception out front, until someone who worked there came to collect him, and they would do so after he has notified the receptionist. In fact now that he thought of it, it would most likely get him into serious trouble if they thought he hadn't turned up today at all, especially as he was already late as it was when he arrived. He stopped an pondered on it for a few moments before spotting a paperclip on the floor and decided to pick it up.
"Ah, I dont have time to wait around, I'll get into even deeper trouble if I cant find Princess soon!", he grumbled, full of stress suddenly, as he patted his pockets and realized he had left the letter they sent him at home on the kitchen table, as well it also saying from him to bring the letter to the desk with him.

Before he could complain or stress out further however, he finally spotted his pet hellhound dragging a small wastebasket around the corner up ahead of him, though he wasn't entirely sure why she was interested in the small bin so much, having been filled with mostly just paper.
"Princess there you are! You silly billy, that not for playing that's junk! Oh you! Come on now, we have to go wait in the reception before we get into anymore trouble. ", Ben babbled patronizingly, stroking Princess on the head, before she began excitedly bounding off round the corner, with Ben quickly trying his best to chase her, until she suddenly decided to take a sniff at someones foot. Ben managed to catch up, stopping to catch his breath as he saw his beloved pet hassling a young man with messy brown hair and wearing a blue army jacket over a t-shirt, along with a girl with plated blonde hair wearing a black tank top and faded blue jeans.

"Oh, uh sorry about that man, seems Princess is pretty excited today, bless her. She always love going to new places. And hey back there, hows it going?", Ben chattered causally, waving at the girl behind the bloke that Princess was taking an interest in the shoe of, before picking the hellhound up. As he did he realized how attractive the young man was, and made the quick decision to play it cool all of a sudden.
"The name's Ben, i'm the new guy around here. Not sure what they got for but i'm pretty sure whatever it is, I can handle it. Especially if it needs these two. Oh by the way, Princess is a hellhound. Yeah pretty cool, I know!" he blabbered, showing of his biceps, before adding; "So you two work here or just visiting?"
