Although Kecicala angels have wings, they are not usually visible to those who are not angels themselves. Humans cannot tell angels from other humans, some intuitive elves can tell, but only demons can truly sense an angel and even catch glimpses of their wings. Angels hide them for various reasons, but mostly because they are a vulnerable part of their bodies and consequently something precious to them.
As with other banned angels, Aviel’s feathers have turned a dark color and become more fragile. Instead of being tucked in, his wings are now limp and hang down from his back, dragging across the ground as he walks and leaving black feathers behind from time to time. Since the wings are “hidden”, these black feathers seem to appear out of nowhere, specially when there is the slightest bit of wind (in which case they can get in his hair, clothes, land on his face, hands...), much to Aviel’s both annoyance and uneasiness.

While Aviel may look like your typical benign Kecicala angel, his behavior makes him an odd one among his kind. Absent-minded and with a tendency to space-out, Aviel spends more time contemplating things than actually doing them. This trait can cause him to over think things and second-guess himself, conflicting with the more spontaneous and enthusiastic side of him. Despite appearances, Aviel is not normally a serious person and does in fact joke around a lot, mostly as a way to cheer himself (and others) up and keep his pessimistic nature under control.

Aviel woke up one day somewhere in Oyra with little memory of his past. All he could remember was his name, the fact that he was angel and that he was in Oyra, which meant he had been banned. The reasons as to why, however, he had no idea and mulled over day and night. Life as a banned angel was not easy, specially when having to share space with demons, most of whom aren't very fond of his kind, but he tried to make the most of it. Always on the move, always looking for answers.

Being banned means that Aviel has lost some of his powers as an angel, but not all of them. While not able to fly, he can still float in the air (and walk on water for instance), but his black tainted wings hold him down a bit, so he can only go so far up (not even two meters). Some of his purifying and healing powers remain as well, though much weaker. He also is able to conjure weapons made out of some sort of light, which makes him think that perhaps he had been in charge of fighting against or protecting something in his forgotten past, though that seems uncharacteristic of his current self. His favorite weapon is the bow.
