The voice of her long gone Father echo constantly in her head : "Katherine, you're too much for this world, no man wants more then himself". This opinion may be true, as she hasn't found herself a man yet that stayed. Her head has always been ahead of what it was supposed to. Katherine never was a girl to want to be a maiden waiting for a man to save her. The 20's allowed many women to embrace that fact. She was home schooled, allowing her to constantly have her nose in a book, when it wasn't searching for answers. Her curiosity has gotten her into bad situations in the past, like finding out about the birds and the bees far too quickly. Now the curiosity appears in conversation with others, about their life before, or if a situation doesn't seem quite right. Due to this, she can be dangerous, because the truth doesn't stay hidden for long around the nosy girl. Her sly tongue has been helpful to get her out of compromising situations. The fact she can play the game of wits at all has impressed some.
How she landed her job, was her quick tongue. Though she wants to say it's also because she's a rather approachable person. Her smile is comforting to many, especially the small afraid children. She's quick to soothe their worries, and it's easy enough for her to get them to tell her about how they ended up in the orphanage. It is no strange image to see her interacting with the kids, even after her job is over.
Being a nurse, her parents make her rather anxious. What will happen, if they'll make it. If a child gets sick, it's a chore to pull Katherine from their side. She'd begin thinking if it was something she did. Often does she over think her own actions, silently criticizing herself in the hours she has alone. She keeps those thoughts locked inside herself, like a bottle she puts a cap on. It's a frightening thought to what would happen if it began to overflow. She's also one to stand beside her opinions and ideals. Getting her to do things that don't feel right is a task in itself, as the stubborn girl will continue to refuse.

Katherine was born out of wedlock. Her Mother a nurse and Father a journalist. The tale of their love has been repeated to her many a time, and she cares to forget it. Not long after she was born, her brother was as well. 19 now, he enlisted into the military. A decision that made their Father proud, and Mother weep. Ever since the girl was a child she was taught morality, elegance, and to always question the world. Being home schooled had he benefits of time. She was able to write with her Father, work with her Mother, and play with her brother. Her childhood was a happy one, even though it wasn't the most luxurious and posh. When she was old enough, she started working with her Mother more, learning from her. Home remedies, first aid, even the more complicated procedures. Katherine was 13 when she had her first real world operation. On her brother's arm in fact. After he fell from a tree, she had to stop the bleeding, and cast his arm as they waited for their Mother to come home.
It was when she discovered the Orphan Train Program when she knew what she wanted to do. She'd always loved kids, babysitting her neighbors. To help kids, and be a nurse like her Mother was a dream. So she went and didn't look back. She often writes letters to her family, and receives them when she can.

Something different is about the small child named Calvin. He's not as small anymore. She'd watch him grow over the span of months, and feels pride in the boy even after a small amount of time. She's talked to him about his old life, but mostly only read reports. She know he misses home, but she knows that his family can't provide for the small boy. An idea popped into her head one night about caring for him on her own, but after some questing asking around - she learned they wouldn't deem it stable. Because of this she decided she needed to get out there, to find a suitor. Secretly she's always been a bit of a hopeless romantic, but now there is a larger idea at stake. Many men would be revolted by the idea however, so her time at the speakeasies when they stop are often wasted. She's beginning to think the impossible. Katherine even entertained the idea of asking her good friend [the Agent] for help, but she knows better than to tie him down.
