Wesley was the only child born to Helen and Jacob Hann. Their little family struggled to stay afloat in the city, neither of his parents having a distinct skill. Living in the slumps of the city didn't bother Wes until he grew to understand the drastic social classes. At age ten Wesley's mother and father decided to work on one of the orphan trains, seeing as both a job and shelter for their family. The rest of Wesley's childhood was spent in a dirty stock car as an underprivileged child of two staff members. From afar he watched even the orphans living a better life than him. Starving and only having a lousy tutor for social interaction made Wesley rigid. The children of the supervisors would make fun of Wesley's lowly life, while his parents killed themselves to keep him fed. By the time that Wes was seventeen both of his parents were dead. His mother died from an illness that the supervisors ignored. His father "just disappeared", though Wes knows that there was only one thing that could have happened to his father after trying to steal medicine for his mother.
The hatred that he had for the supervisors turned into ambition when he got his first official job on the train. Wesley wanted to destroy every supervisor and pompous fool. However, through his years of being the top man he's been blinded by money and fame. Wesley isn't really sure what he's doing here anymore, all he knows is that his way is the only way on the Malcolm.

Wesley is the definition of two-faced. One moment he is the most lovely creature and the next moment he is tearing someone apart. Wesley can't get a hold of his emotions or his jealousy. He is neurotic, and explodes at the littlest inconvenience. Growing up poor has given him a little edge, but sitting in the lap of luxury has also made him possessive. Because he never had anything for himself as a child he clings to everything that he owns like its his most prize possession. Wesley has a hard time getting over himself, or getting over anything at all. Wes holds grudges, and disposes of anyone and anything that embarrasses his good name fast than they can say "Malcolm". He's a no shit kind of man, yet he himself is full of it.
Wesley has a boisterous confidence that reflects off the walls, all of which is just a big show. In reality Wesley has never been sure of himself, but he makes people think he's the sun and the moon just to get his way. His sour exterior is thick and his psychological turmoil is present but deep down he's got a soft side. Only his wife knows this undying devotion and sweetness.
To the public Wes is a charming, good hearted man who wants the best for the children on his train. To the children he is a strict, sometimes insane, father figure. To the staff he is the devil himself. Wesley follows the rules of the train to a tee, and he even adds unsaid rules that could be detrimental if broken. His scattered brain knows only that if he doesn't get what he wants than he's failed. Wesley isn't a failure, and he'll do anything to make it so. Anything at all.

His hands are rough from his previous blue collar work on the train, and his face is a leathery texture from handwork and personal stress.
