Derris's brother, searching for his lost sibling, and some way to make sense of what has happened.
Distant, noncommunicative, and generally somewhat belligerent, Jasper does his best to avoid other people. The only exception to this rule was always his younger brother Derris, who he was fiercely protective of, learning jujitsu for the sole purpose of keeping him safe.
Despite his general unpleasantness, Jasper is not at all a bad person, merely an unsociable one who does not trust easily. He dislikes especially strongly vain people, or those concerned with appearance in any way. When he decides he dislikes someone, he will actively ignore them unless they confront him, in which case his temper becomes something of a problem. He's only impulsive when upset, otherwise he's quite calculating.
Abilities: In addition to the standard sense-enhancement, Jasper has recently discovered an increase in his reflexes and agility, to the point where he can land on his feet with no damage after a seven-story fall, something he discovered quite by accident, or dodge a bullet (assuming he knows it's coming) which he discovered with very, very much purpose.
Jasper wears a necklace with a single ring on it, part of a pair, the other half of which was given to his brother.
Jasper spent the first few years of his house in a happy, but poor household. His father was a manual laborer, his mother a daycare assistant. Unfortunately, soon after the two had their second child (Jasper was 11) they died in a freak car accident, and the boys were sent to an orphanage, where Jasper discovered that his then-cute looks combined with his brother's infancy would lead to their separation if he was not careful. Swearing that this must not happen, he began to act and dress like a delinquent so that nobody would wish to adopt him.
As the two grew older, however, the problem was reversed, and Jasper had to come up with creative measures to keep Derris from being adopted, which mostly included lying about a number of things, such as saying that Derris's small size was due to some incurable disease. Disgusted with how well both of his ruses had worked, he came to view people as fundamentally shallow and self-interested. The minute he turned 18, he took his brother and the two of them hitchhiked to Exodar, generally in the vehicles of elderly women charmed by his brother, or younger ones by him, which only served to increase his cynicism.
The two had been living together in Exodar for a year, surviving off winnings Jasper made in underground fighting tournaments, when the disease struck. Jasper himself collapsed first, and when he woke up, his brother was nowhere to be found. Now, the older boy searches for the younger, having no other driving force to his life but that one desire.
