I'm the Eagle, Your'e the Snake. I'm the Predator, Your'e the Prey.
Salem is a generally bright personality. He likes to bring up the mood of everyone around him. He doesnt like to see sadness, and will, to the best of his ability, put it to rest. The only person he has never been able to make laugh, like truly laugh, is Captain Van Dan. The man is a stone, and its a constant challenge to Salem. He is competitive, he has to be. He feels a deep need to be the best at everything he does, be it Piloting, or just playing music. His main personality flaw is his emotions. He doesn't take loss well, so he doesn't tend to get close to many of the internationals. He got too close once, and it bit him. Hard. Despite all of this, Salem is an extremely loyal soldier, and would do anything for his commanding officer or his squad.
Salem is a pilot. He does not own his own aircraft unfortunately, but has become quite attatched to the V22 Osprey V/STOL owned by the Internationals. He was fully trained in the flight of all active duty aircraft. This includes all manner of helicopters, VTOL fighter jets, large cargo planes, and even passenger planes. When not inside of an aircraft Salem packs a sidearm M11 pistol and the standard duty Internationals rifle. The pistol is for emergencies. He is trained in Tae Kwon Do and has gone through basic training like any other soldier. He doesn't tend to see too much ground conflict, but is able to defend himself and his squad if the need is clear.
Salem was born to fly. He left just out of high school for the air force and enlisted. After basic he moved to flight training. He already had a backround of flight. He was a performer in his local flying circus before he left. Once he earned his wings he met his wingman, Carter. The two of them flew together on most combat missions. While only few were heavy combat, they each left a resounding mark on Salem. He followed his orders without question, without argument. He was a drone, but he thought he was in control. He wasn't.
His last mission with the American Air Force was a patroling of a known terrorist hot spot. He and Carter strafed the area many times but never saw anything, until carters radar showed an incoming surface to air missile. The two split off and attempted to dodge the missile. Soon after one was fired at Salem. He was able to lose his by having it prematurely detonate on a mountain side, but Carter was not so lucky. His plane was shot down. Salem was ordered to come back to base, and when he got there he was told he was never to tell of what happened. It turns out the missiles were accidentally launched by a secret american base in Aghanistan. The two were mistaken for enemy pilots and were fired on, and the government needed to cover it up. This was bad for publicity.
Short after that Salem went AWOL. He joined the Internationals quickly and gave everything he had to the organization. He pledged to never let the government have control of him again.
